For immediate release April 30, 1999 GOO GOO DOLLS ANNOUNCE CONFIRMED SUMMER TOUR DATES WITH SUGAR RAY AND FASTBALL. Warner Bros. recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls have announced confirmed Summer tour dates with Sugar Ray and Fastball. This exciting eight week tour brings together three of America's most popular bands for what promises to be the hottest show of the Summer! The tour begins in Phoenix, Arizona on July 16th and will go through September. Goo band members Robby Takac (bass), John Rzeznik (guitar,) and Mike Malinin (drums) will be joined onstage by guitarist Nathan December and keyboardist David Schulz. All confirmed Goo Goo Dolls shows are listed below, with more to be announced as soon as they become available. The Goo Goo Dolls, who are on a Spring tour promoting their latest release, Dizzy Up the Girl, are asking fans to bring cans and other non-perishable foods to their shows in their effort to feed the hungry. Volunteers from U.S.A. Harvest, the nations largest food delivery organization, collect the food at each show and distribute it to local shelters for people in need. Over five tons of food has already been collected! "Our fans response to this food drive has been amazing so far" says Robby Takac. "During the Summer tour, we'll continue to ask for their assistance in helping U.S. A. Harvest feed those less fortunate people in their communities." Two singles from Dizzy Up the Girl are currently on the Billboard charts. "Slide" is No. 8 on the Hot 100 chart and "Dizzy" is No. 10 on the Modern Rock chart. The group's Top Five smash hit "Iris" was just nominated for Best Song by MTV viewers for the "1999 MTV Movie Awards," which will air June 10th. The song, originally recorded for the multi-platinum City of Angels soundtrack received three GRAMMY nominations this past February. The Goo Goo Dolls recently completed a video for their next single, "Black Balloon." Scheduled for a June release, the video was filmed on location in Los Angeles with Nancy Bardawil, who also directed clips for "Iris," "Slide" and "Dizzy."
