16:14:03 - Black Balloon premeired today on MTV. Cool video! Catch it on the Total Request Live rerun at 9 pm Eastern tonight. The video is shown right after the #2 song ("Drive Myself Crazy" by N'Sync) and there is a short interview shown before it!
According to Ticketmaster, the Camden, NJ show originally scheduled for 8/24 has been moved to 8/25! Tickets go on sale June 19 at 10 am! This does interfere with the show supposed to be at the E Center in Philadelphia, so I'll try to clear this up ASAP!
New poll! For the next couple weeks, vote on a revisited topic - What should the next single be after Black Balloon?!

GOO GOO DOLLS JOIN MTV'S "FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHTS" ANTI-VIOLENCE CAMPAIGN; DATES ADDED TO BAND'S HEADLINE SUMMER TOUR WITH SUGAR RAY AND FASTBALL. Warner Bros. recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls will join forces with MTV this summer to promote the music television's 1999 pro-social campaign, Fight for Your Rights: Take a Stand Against Violence. A free CD/Action Guide* and other information related to MTV's anti-violence campaign will be distributed to concert-goers during the band's headline summer tour with special guests Sugar Ray and Fastball, beginning July 16 in Phoenix. The Goo Goo Dolls are on tour to promote their double platinum album, Dizzy Up the Girl. New tour dates are listed below and additional dates will be available soon. The Fight for your Rights: Take a Stand Against Violence CD features music and comments on the subject of violence from such diverse recording artists as Lauryn Hill, Dave Matthews Band, Alanis Morrisette and others. The CD also contains educational CD-ROM content designed by the National Center for Conflict Resolution. The 24-page Action Guide was created by MTV with the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education and outlines ways young people can reduce violence in their communities. Speaking at a recent press conference, Goo's guitarist John Rzeznik said "People need to be comforted and understood and educated and reinvested in to ultimately break the cycle of violence that's been passed on and on." Rzeznik along with band members Robby Takac and Mike Malinin will continue their food drive with U.S.A. Harvest while on their Summer tour. Fans have already brought over 25 tons of canned and other non-perishable foods to the band's shows since April 1st. Volunteers from U.S.A. Harvest pick up the food at each show and deliver it to local shelters. The Goo Goo Dolls have had three No. 1 singles in a row: "Name" from their 1995 album A Boy Named Goo and "Iris" and "Slide" from Dizzy Up the Girl. "Iris," originally recorded for the multi-platinum City of Angels soundtrack is nominated for Best Song for this year's "1999 MTV Movie Awards" scheduled to air on June 10th. The band received three GRAMMY nominations this past February for "Iris." "Black Balloon," the third single from Dizzy Up the Girl, set for release June 8th has already been added to radio playlists across the country. The "Black Balloon" video will debut on MTV May 25th. The clip was directed by Nancy Bardawil ("Iris," "Slide" and "Dizzy".) Lots of TV stuff this weekend! The Goos will be on Friday Night Videos on NBC, which airs at 1:35 Eastern. Look for the Dizzy video! Also, tonight on Loveline they are repeating the Loveline from earlier in the year that the Goos were on.
Lastly, the guys did a press conference this morning to introduce a joint MTV, US Dept. of Justice, and US Dept. of Education program called The Fight for Your Rights: Take a Stand Against Violence CD/Action Guide. The Goos also announced that during their upcoming summer tour, they will be distributing information about the "Fight for Your Rights" campaign and how young people across the country can get involved in their communities. Look for it to be covered on MTV's "1515" this weekend: tonight at 7:30 pm, tomorrow at 10:30 am and 4:30 pm, Sunday at 10:30 am, and Monday at noon (all times Eastern). You can find out more at MTV Online, but here is some basic information:
The Fight for Your Rights: Take a Stand Against Violence CD/Action Guide was created jointly by MTV, the U.S. Departments of Justice and Education. The 24-page Action Guide booklet outlines specific ways that young people can reduce violence in their communities through mentoring, conflict resolution, youth crime watch, arts, and advocacy programs. It is packaged with a special CD featuring music from Lauryn Hill, Alanis Morrisette, Tori Amos, Dave Matthews Band, Everclear and Backstreet Boys and contains recorded comments on the subject of violence from additional artists. In addition, the CD also contains educational CD-ROM content created by the National Center for Conflict Resolution.
Don't forget to go to MTV Online and vote for Iris in the MTV Movie Awards!
On the Billboard Charts for the week of 5/15/99:
The Goo's are scheduled for MTV's Loveline program on 5/7. This is likely a rerun of the episode they were on earlier in the year.
Updates to the Show Board and Trading Board!
Also, I heard tickets for the HFS Festival on 5/29 the Goo's are playing sold out! Something like either 50,000 or 75,000 tickets in under 1.5 hours! (Thanks, Aisling and Jeff!)
Also, Rob reports that tickets for the Long Island (8/20) show go on sale next Saturday (5/8) via Ticketmaster!
