About Greg

So, you have decided to read about me. Here's why I put this page on what is supposed to be a "Marcy Playground " site. There are between 100 and 200 hits to this site per day. Most of you are younger fans, but once in a while I get email from individuals in the business world. So, I figure, "Why let let this opportunity pass me by." I am currently a junior at Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY. That means is I'll be needing a job in a year to pay off some major loans, and just maybe someone out there reading this might need someone like me. So, here's some information about myself and my life.

I am originally from a small town in Upstate New York called Salem. It was a great place to grow up and sometimes I miss the slow paced life that Salem offers. I graduated from Salem Washington Academy with a New York State Regents Diploma and several awards in the Spring of 1995. I was involved in the music and arts programs at Washington Academy including taking the role as "Bob Cratchet" in Dickens's "A Christmas Carol", playing in the Jazz and Stage Bands, singing for our chorus and Co-Editing the "Washingtonian" our high school yearbook.

My transition to life at Marist was smooth and exciting. I didn't have to give up any of my other hobbies like snowboarding and music but i got to add to that list. Computers and the Internet entered my life along with the education that the new classes provided. As an Advertising major, a sub track of the Communications program here, I was introduced to the media.

I have experience in copy writing, and production of commercials from the various Ad classes completed here. I have also had vast experience with computers and classes on Web Design. I am trained and proficient with PhotoShop, Page Maker MS Office, and HTML authoring. Everything you see here was made on my own from scratch. But wait...there's more.

My love and identity here on campus have stemmed from something else. Since freshman year I have been involved with the Campus Radio club, 88.1 WMCR. During my Frosh and Sophomore year I developed as an on air personality. This past year and now elected for a second year I have been General Manager of the station. This undertaking has had a great impact on my life. For one, I was introduced to Marcy Playground. That was being in the right place at the right time. But through the station I have learned some audio engineering, use of all types of audio equipment for production and broadcast purposes along with other technical knowledge. Management skills have also been learned and used on a daily basis. Running a radio station is no easy task, and I feel good knowing that my staff and peers feel that I have done a good job and want me around for another term.

I guess that you could say that I'm a very well rounded person. Because of my diverse background in all forms of media I'm having a difficult time deciding on my next step. Web Design? Advertising? Radio? Who knows? But rest assured, this site will continue to grow with the band over the next few years.
