Rage Against the Machine Reviews

"The Battle of Los Angeles", Dec. 19, 1999

I would like to give you my review of the Los Angeles's show's. I was fortunate to go to both of them. Me and my brother and my 4 friends went. All of us like RAGE but my friends mainly like them just for the music. My friends also like limp-bizkit and korn......so I hope you understand. I am a huge fucking fan. I love they way they don't take shit from anyone, and say it straight out. I also love that there not out to be in the fucking "MTV, TRL shit." On Sunday and Monday they played with the same groups. The first group was Queens of the Stone Age, they played for about 45 minutes. They sounded alright musically but you couldn't hear what the fuck they said. Next was GangStarr, they played for about 1 hour. They were cool, musically and vocals. They keep trying to pump up the crowd for the main attraction. The minute he said "I was talking to Zack backstage and he said the crowd sucked" everybody just cheered! They left and everybody just got ready.

RAGE came on stage at about 9-30. They played till 10-45 to 11:00. The minute they came out the place got fucking crazy. They played about 13 songs. All of them went through my body so fucking bad. I and everybody must of felt that shit. They opened with TESTIFY, then GUERILLA RADIO, both bitching ass songs. The minute that Brad played drums the banner came down and said the shit everybody wanting to see "THE BATTLE OF LOST ANGELES" They played a great show. Just to see the emotion on Zack's face threw all the songs was the shit. Everybody got off when they played. Everybody knew all the songs lyrics, which was also bad. Then came PEOPLE OF THE SUN, kick ass song. Then CALM LIKE A BOMB. That shit sound awesome live. After that I kind of forgot how the rest of the songs went but I know which songs they played. Another great song was NO SHELTER. They surprised me playing VIETNOW, but that was cool. They played about 15 songs total which so fucking bad. After WAR WITHIN A BREATH, they left the stage for a breather...They came back and 4 songs for the encore. I know those, the first was BULLS ON PARADE, then Tom played a riff with Brad playing a new drum beat and y.tim.k playing new basslines to ROLL RIGHT , it was kind of a hip-hop groove sort of like MIC CHECK, but Zack said the ROLL RIGHT. It was cool cause Zack said " Then came the Shot" After that Zack said that one of the largest police forces in the United States was trying to break up RAGE. It was about the FOP boycotting the them on all theirconcerts. Then he said "We don't support cop killers, or any kind of killer, especially killer cops!" Then he gave a little shout out to Mumia Abu-Jamal, Leonard Peltier and all the other brothers and sisters that are incarcerated in the pen for shit they didn't commit. Then he dedicated FREEDOM. That song was the one of the best songs live since I haven't heard before. I went to Coachella, I got to go to the EL REY, and other concerts with them and they never played it, so IT FUCKING KICKED ME OFF MY ASS! THE WHOLE BAND got off on FREEDOM. They finished with KILLING IN THE NAME. Which was a bad song to end the shit. Towards the end when he says "FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME" The whole place lit up and you can see everybody's fingers in the air saying the same shit. That was so fucking bad. We left and I keep thinking I get to see that shit tomorrow? FUCKING BAD!

I'll make Monday's short and sweet. It felt the same way, but they played one less song, which was VIETNOW and in the ROLL RIGHT "new version" BOBO from CYPRESS Hill came out and got off on the bongo drums.
