8/31/99 23:16:05 - The tour date for Orlando at the Hard Rock Live has been rescheduled! The new show will be November 4 at 8 pm! Tickets go on sale via TicketMaster starting September 4 at 10 am! I don't have any official word as far as the fall tour goes, but for this show, at least, Tonic will be the opening band.
8/27/99 11:31:27 - The Goo's will have a segment on MTV News 1515 this weekend. The show will air: Friday, 7:30 pm Eastern, Saturday, 9:30 am, and Sunday, 8:00 am.

Goo Goo Dolls To Headline MP3.com Tour

Pop-rockers the Goo Goo Dolls will headline MP3.com's first Music and 
Technology Tour. The outing will hit about 30 college campuses in 
October and November, event spokesperson Perry Serpa said. In addition 
to the Goo Goo Dolls, the tour will feature local bands whose work is 
available on MP3.com, the MP3 clearinghouse, as well as technology 
booths and downloadable-music displays. Use SonicNet's archives of

The WB will air the ceremony live from 8-10 p.m. ET. The Goo's are nominated with for Contemporary Hit Radio/Hot Adult Contemporary Song of the Year with Iris, up against Shawn Mullins, "Lullaby" - Barenaked Ladies, "One Week" - Sugar Ray, "Every Morning" - Sarah McLachlan, "Angel" - and Britney Spears, "Baby One More Time". They are also up for Contemporary Hit Radio/Hot Adult Contemporary Artist of the Year against Ricky Martin, Backstreet Boys, Smash Mouth, Sugar Ray, and Sarah McLachlan! Good luck, Goos!

GOO GOO DOLLS ARE VH-1'S SEPTEMBER ARTISTS OF THE MONTH;  "BEHIND THE
MUSIC" AND LIVE PERFORMANCE AT VH-1'S BIG BACKYARD BARBECUE SCHEDULED. 

Warner Bros. recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls are the September Artists
of the Month on the music channel VH-1, where the group will be featured
throughout the month in videos, interviews and special programming. 

The band will be the focus of "The Goo Goo Dolls: Behind the Music"
premiering Sunday, September 5th at 9PM.  The show chronicles the band's
career through years of endless touring and the personal hardships it took
to achieve "overnight success." In-depth interviews with the band along
with never before seen film footage will be included in the hour-long
program. 

The Goo Goo Dolls will perform in someone's back yard this Labor Day,
Monday, September 6th courtesy of VH-1, who will air the one hour concert
live at 7PM (ET/ PT.)  "Big Backyard Barbecue with the Goo Goo Dolls"
entries are pouring in and a winner will be chosen at random on August
16th at 7PM during a VH1.com on-line chat with the band.  The winner and
100 of his/her closest friends will receive an all-expense paid barbecue
along with the live performance by the Goo Goo Dolls. 

The Goo Goo Dolls are currently on a headline USA Summer tour in support
of their double platinum album, Dizzy Up the Girl.  The tour features
special guests Sugar Ray and Fastball.  Goo's band members Johnny Rzeznik
(guitar), Robby Takac (bass) and Mike Malinin (drums) are joined onstage
by guitarist Nathan December and keyboardist David Schulz.

Dizzy Up the Girl is No. 44* on Billboard's Top 200 Album chart.  The
latest single "Black Balloon" is No. 44* on Billboard's Hot 100 Single
chart and is tops in radio airplay at various formats: Modern Rock, Album
Rock, AAA and Adult Top 40. 

The Goo Goo Dolls are involving their fans in several pro-social efforts
while on tour.  First, the band is distributing MTV's Fight for Your
Rights: Take a Stand Against Violence CD/Action Guide at every show.  The
CD contains music with comments by popular recording artists on ways young
people can reduce violence in their communities.  In addition,
representatives from PAX, the anti-gun violence organization, will be on
hand to gather signatures for the PAX Youth Petition and to sell a special
PAX/Goo Goo Dolls T-shirt.  All proceeds will go directly to their effort
to end gun violence. 

The Goo Goo Dolls are asking fans to bring non-perishable foods to the
concerts to be distributed to the needy.  U.S.A. Harvest, the nation's
largest food delivery organization, will pick up the food and deliver it
to local shelters in each city. Fans have generously donated over 100,000
lbs. of food to their own communities in the last four months. 

The Goo Goo Dolls have had three No. 1 singles in a row: "Name" from
their 1995 album A Boy Named Goo and "Iris" and "Slide" from Dizzy Up
the Girl. "Iris," originally recorded for the multi-platinum City of
Angels soundtrack garnered three GRAMMY nominations for the band this past
February.  "Iris" was recently honored at the BMI Awards as 1998's
"Most Performed Song from a Film," and according to the music trade
publication, Airplay Monitor, it was the most played song of 1998.

International GGD news! MMM is reporting that the Goo's may come back to Australia in October! Black Balloon should soon be released there. In Germany, Black Balloon is at #8 on VIVA2's Rock Charts for August 3. In Ireland, the Goo's are up another spot to #15 with Iris - it's their 5th week going up in a row! And in the UK, ABNG and SSCW are to be released on 8/9! (Thanks Monica, Sandra, John, and Lynsey!)

Tickets are on sale now for the Jacksonville (9/17) show! Tickets are on sale at CD Warehouse and Base ITTs, not Ticketmaster. They are $20 with a $1 surcharge and are general admission. However, there are no phone orders.
