7 Crossroads as well as Spoonful were just fuzzed
up versions of old blues standards, Jimi actually
rearranged them and completely changed the songs
style. And if you want to get in a war about
takes, Clapton was also known to do many takes as
he was absolutely shit scared of the studio and
never wanted to set anything down as final. Jimi
and the band never practiced, they would all turn
up at the studio and just jam until they came up
with a song, hence the 14 takes. Jimi just wanted
to record and jam and see what they could come up
with, they weren't anally rerecording similar
takes over and over until they had one that was
absolutely perfect. Voodoo Child Slight Return
took 15 takes, but that was because he was making
up the entire song on the spot, it evolves from
just one riff on take 1 to a riff and a couple of
chords and lyrics by take 7 to the full thing by
take 15 and that was the final version used for
the album. Again, that was how he worked, utter
improvisation, you cannot really have a number of
takes competition as it is irrelevant to the way
Jimi worked in the studio.

And there's something wrong with this board, it
wouldn't let me post anything more than one small
message at a time..

BTW Pottus, that latest post of yours about Jimi
killing himself because Clapton was better is the
most vulgar piece of so called 'gutter language'
there is, a completely derogatory piece of bile
which you know yourself is just a hateful knee
jerk response. Jimi didn't kill himself,
nevermind because clapton was 'better'.
