4 Dude, I'm white, I'm not a black guy filled up
with some kind of hatred against past white
racism. But it's obvious there were tons of great
black musicians operating right from the last
century to the 60's who were mostly completely
overlooked simply for the fact they were black.
Some of them managed to get records released,
Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters etc. I just don't
think Clapton had anything special when compared
to those types of people yet was worshipped as
some kind of amazing innovator just because he
could get recognition for playing blues because
he was white. There were blacks doing what he was
doing over 20 years previously, most of them only
started to gain some recognition after Clapton
and other people like him had become famous and
cited their 'influences' from them.
5 I'm not going even to bother with this one, it's
far too subjective. I've seen Clapton gigs and he
just looks like he's going through the motions,
after the 60's he became really awful though, you
cannot say other than say the rebirth Unplugged
stuff that he didn't turn into a really boring
easy listening type of musician. And you're
comparing a 40 year career to Jimi's 3 or so
years of being in the spotlight, the fact that
you are comparing them in the first place must
show that Jimi really did have something special
for the little time he was allowed to shine.
