6 Again, Jimi's tricks he just did in the emotion
of the moment, he didn't like doing them on
request. And by the end of his life he hated
doing them because people only turned up at his
gigs to see the tricks and not listen to the
music. Obviously he wanted to make an impression
on the crowd at the polytechnic gig so did some
tricks from his reportoire, it doesn't detract
from his playing at all. Clapton and lots of
other top British guitarists saw his playing and
were knocked out, they would of known if he was a
hack, Jeff Beck announced with the arrival of
Jimi they were "all finished!" Clapton and Jimi
were friends, would Eric really be friends with
him if he thought he was just a cheap hack who
was ripping him off? I think Clapton was excited
to be with Jimi because he knew he was really
talented, Jimi also thought Clapton was really
talented so there's equal appreciation there.
Nothing bad about that.
