TAN M&M's were my FAVORITE!!
(M&M colors as I remember them: red, orange, yellow, green, TAN aka light brown, and dark brown.)

Even those colors together looked old! I do not remember tan M&Ms, sadly. I think there were always blue.. I was never a fan of them though, sadly.

This is how old I am .... when I was a child they stopped making red m&m's for quite awhile thinking the red die caused cancer. Eventually, it was deemed safe and the red ones were added again. Anyone else remember the red m&m ban?

I remember voting in elementary school as well..
But the real question is WHAT HAPPENED TO THE PURPLE M&MS? Shortly after the blue ones were added, they ran another contest between purple, pink and aqua. Purple won. I don't think they were ever actually made though.
Also, I cannot randomly eat M&Ms. I need to separate them by color. Reds get eaten first because I hate red, then yellow because I dislike yellow slightly less than red. After that, I eat the color I have the fewest of and so on. I'm pretty sure I need some sort of therapy...

I guess I'd need therapy too, because I would always eat them in some sort of color order. And I always saved the light brown ones for last.
I think blue threw off the color palate.
But according to the wikipedia (whether it's true or not, I don't know), long ago, the tan ones had replaced purple, so I guess what goes around comes around.
