I live about 20 minutes north of Portland. I think it is something like a 3 hour drive to Acadia and Bar Harbor. I have only been to Bar Harbor once when I was young. I would love to go again.
Portland is a great little city and you should definitely try to go there.
I have only spent two weeks in Maine since February. I miss it there...

As far as I understand maps, we will be very close to Onondaga Lake (fun fact - It's one of the most polluted lakes in the world! Yay!), so your odds probably aren't that outlandish.

We always say we're going to stop there, but then by the time we get there we're so anxious to finish driving we pass it by.
Every time I go to ME, I say I want to move there. But I've never been there in the winter - I think I'd better do that before making the move.
