THE BATTLE OF ATHENS,GREECE 14-06-2000

� I can't find the words to describe what happened during and after the RATM gig here in Athens,Greece! If you have seen RATM live,you understand what I mean! The energy of this band is unique in the world! The wild greek crowd was about to see them for the first time and I knew it was going to be a hell out there! They came on stage and the crowd was getting mad already.. They were all perfect,Tom was wearing the outfit of Guerilla Radio videoclip.They started with a real BOMBTRACK,we all knew the lyrics! The same with TESTIFY and GUERILLA RADIO..What better time than now..It was so difficult to be in the front,there was no room to breathe!We couldn't do anything but jumping and screaming with Zack! PEOPLE OF THE SUN and the crowd knew this as well! GHOST OF TOM JOAD was a nice track to calm down.Then,the war started again and there was no way it could stop: CALM LIKE A BOMB,KNOW YOUR ENEMY,SLEEP NOW IN THE FIRE,BULLET IN THE HEAD,BORN OF A BROKEN MAN,WAR WITHIN A BREATH and FREEDOM(Zack was screaming: FREEDOM, for MUMIA!!),we all had run out of water and RATM needed a little break.In a couple of minutes they came back with 2 great encores:BULLS ON PARADE and KILLING IN THE NAME!! People were really like bulls on parade!! Then,everyone had raised his middle finger during KILLING IN THE NAME and everyone knew the lyrics ofcourse..it was the highlight of the gig.People were shouting in greek "cops,pigs,killers". Zack was moving all over the stage screaming 'FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!' and people were screaming and jumping in a state of madness!! The gig finished,RATM left and the riot started! We could see the fire outside of the gig place.People wearing masks threw molotov bombs and set fire to 4 cars that were parked outside and you could see broken bottles,rocks and fires everywhere.The police came,the crowd was shouting 'Fuck the police' and then cops threw teargass,everyone was trying to leave...I got home and the only I could think was that this gig was the best experience in my life.And it's something that only RATM can make happen..
