GOO GOO DOLLS TO PERFORM FOR DEMOCRATIC LEADERSHIP DURING CONVENTION WEEK IN LOS ANGELES.

The Democratic National Committee and members of the Gore presidential campaign have invited multi-platinum recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls to participate in various events surrounding the Democratic National Convention next week in Los Angeles. The group will perform brief acoustic sets at several campaign-related functions. Band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin feel strongly about the importance of participating in the political process and hope to encourage their fans to vote in this year's presidential election.

The DNC's invitation to the Goo Goo Dolls was made after a recent segment of MTV's "Choose or Lose" political special "Who Cares?" featured John Rzeznik as a reporter. Rzeznik spent a day with Senator Ted Kennedy in Wash, D.C., accompanying him to a medical benefits hearing, a news conference on hate-crime legislation and a discussion with students lobbying for college aid. The program examines the crisis of voter apathy among young people and the visit with Kennedy provided a look at a typical day in the life of a government representative.

The Goo Goo Dolls will attend the following DNC events:

Sun., Aug 13 - Band performs and co-hosts a party in Hollywood celebrating young delegates and supporters at the convention. Karenna Gore-Schiff is the special guest.

Mon., Aug 14 - The group are guests at a dinner honoring President Clinton at Paramount Studios hosted by Whoopie Goldberg. (The band does not perform at this event.)

Later that evening, the band performs at the Grammy Foundation's reception for the Democratic Leadership at the Recording Academy headquarters in Santa Monica.

Tues., Aug 15 - Band performance at a late night party at SkyBar for Senators, congressmen and women and delegates featuring honoree Ed Rendel, General Chair of the DNC.

The Goo Goo Dolls latest album, DIZZY UP THE GIRL has sold over four million copies to date and has produced five hit singles, "Slide," "Iris," "Dizzy," "Black Balloon" and "Broadway." The band recently announced select tour dates and are appealing to fans to bring canned and other non-perishable foods to their shows. 8/9/00 - Long update today!!... I've got some news about the Broadway Single for those of you in Australia! The single will be released on the 11th of September in Australia and should be playing on radio playlists now. It contains the following tracks:

From what I hear, Black Balloon (Live) is a must-hear. It is brilliant, particularly Dave's keyboard playing and Johnny's vocals.

GOO GOO DOLLS ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES;
USA Harvest Joins Band in Collecting Food for the Needy.

Multi-platinum recording artists, the Goo Goo Dolls have announced select tour dates in support of their sixth album, Dizzy Up the Girl. The band, who has been on the road for almost two years, will kick off the tour at the State Fair in Pueblo, Colorado on August 28th. Band members John Rzeznik (guitar,) Robby Takac (bass) and Mike Malinin (drums) will be joined on stage by guitarist Nathan December and keyboardist David Schulz. Tour dates are listed below.

The Goo Goo Dolls have invited USA Harvest, the nation-wide food delivery organization, to join them again in collecting food for the needy. Since March of 1999, USA Harvest collected over over 600,000 lbs. of food donated by fans at the band's concerts. The Goos are again appealing to fans to bring canned and other non-perishable food items to the shows. Volunteers will be on hand to collect the food and deliver it locally to soup kitchens, shelters and other social service agencies. "We're very excited about USA Harvest volunteers joining us on the road again" says Robby Takac. "We want to thank our fans for donating to their communities this past year and we hope to see them at the shows again this month."

Dizzy Up the Girl has sold almost four million albums to date and has appeared on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart for 95 weeks. Four singles off the album, "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy" and "Black Balloon" have accumulated over a million plays at radio, according to BDS. The latest single "Broadway" is tops at several radio formats and a video treatment for the song, written by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait, can be seen on MTV and VH-1. The Goo Goo Dolls have been nominated for four GRAMMY awards and were honored this past year with songwriting and broadcast performance awards from ASCAP and BMI.

The Goo Goo Dolls web site googoodolls.com has been redesigned and now features contest giveaways, exclusive photos, unreleased audio tracks, band information and a Goo Goo Dolls store. The site provides daily information directly from the band on "The Daily Goo" which includes news from the road, tour information, television and radio appearances, downloadable clips and special announcements.
