Shows Scheduled for May 20-23

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--April 28, 1998--Garth Brooks will bring his sold-out concert tour to Freedom Hall in Louisville, KY, from May 20-23. Fans bought over 70,000 tickets when they went on sale Saturday (April 25), breaking the building's existing ticket sales record set by Brooks himself in 1992 (one show/19,200 tickets). Trisha Yearwood will be Brooks' special guest at the concerts.

In other news, Brooks will appear Thursday (April 30) at the kickoff for the National Celebration of the 50th Anniversary of American Red Cross Blood Services in Washington, DC. The event, hosted by Red Cross President Elizabeth Dole, will be held at Red Cross National Headquarters at 11:00 A.M. (EDT). It will highlight the organization's rich tradition of blood service to our nation, beginning in World War II, and its successful seven-year $287 million effort to completely modernize every aspect of blood collection, testing, processing and distribution. Mrs. Dole personally contacted Brooks and asked him to lend his support.

Brooks was voted Favorite Male Singer in People Magazine's ``People Poll `98'' (April 27 issue) over Elton John, George Strait, Elvis Presley and Michael Bolton. The poll was conducted by a random phone survey of 1,000 People readers.
