Goo Goo Dolls "Slide" in to Seneca Allegany Casino
ARTICLE | SAT, 10/30/2010 - 23:19 | BY KATHRYN KVAS

Manuela Marin Salcedo

The Goo Goo Dolls ran onstage, and everyone screamed. Most stood up, and they started playing one of their most popular songs, "Slide".

Robby Takac kept his promise, and they played a lot of their old hits, along with some of their new ones, like "Home", their first single from Something for the Rest of Us. John Rzeznik sang the majority of the songs, but Takac sang a few of his own too, like "Another Time Around".

The Goo Goo Dolls kept the audience entertained the whole time. While playing the base, Takac bounced a giant balloon off his head after it was thrown onstage by the audience. Both Rzeznik and Takac talked to individual audience members between songs.

One of the most memorable moments of the concert was when they played "Black Balloon", and a cloud of black balloons floated down from the ceiling and onto the crowd.

The concert lasted an hour and a half, a good amount of time for the audience to stay focused and entertained, but also long enough for the Goo Goo Dolls to play all the songs everyone loves.

Their songs were evenly dispersed between their old hits and new hits to keep everyone happy.

Karen Collins, a veteran fan of the Goo Goo Dolls, has been to at least 30 of their concerts and knows every song off of their new album. Collins loved every minute of the concert. She was on her feet dancing the whole time. "All their concerts are this good," She said.

I personally loved every minute of it and so did the two other people I was with. We were standing the whole time. The hour and a half flew by and we might have even wanted a little more, but the performance was nothing short of impressive.

And so were their voices. There was no lip-syncing, enough said.

Overall, after 26 years of performing and touring, the Goo Goo Dolls still have it, and are clearly still enjoying themselves. Their voices are still in tact and they still have fun playing both their old and new songs. So don't hesitate to see them if you're afraid they'll be washed up, because they're not even close.

No lip-synching.

Well, I hope not!

I was really happy to hear "Another Second Time Around" at the Sacred Heart show too. It was weird standing amidst a crowd of "Let Love In"-era fans, singing the words to an older song they never heard.
