Remix

Well, it was a great surprise when Jimmy asked me for doing a remix for $5 Extra. I didn't doubt it neither a second and I tried to give the best of me to compose a mix that wouldn't disappoint the confidence put on me.
When I got the acapella of Ch-Check It Out a month ago I stared to do a beat for it. I think CCIO is a party song, so I decided to do an "active" beat, something funky, nothing slow. I wanted something easy listeneable, a nice song to burn and play it loud on the car or in stereo hi-fi equipment. In brief: a summer mix.
So I took a dance sample from a Cayo Hueso mix that fit the beats and the voices. I added also a little sound of "we will rock you (Beastie Boys remix)" on the background of the chorus and some verses. In order to fortify the beats on the chorus I used two loops: fastbreaks and downtempo beats.
My first idea was cut off the chorus like the prunes did with sure shot and root down, but it didn't work.
I used the clean acapella, simply because I like more the chorus and some verses than the explicit one.
The bass line is always a very important part of the songs. You can't feel it in the computer' speakers, but I like to put a powerful bass so then you can burn the song and play it in a good equipment.
Every time I listen in the original song "Like a scientist, mmmm when I’m applying this" I automatically think "mmmm... drop", so I decided to cut the music and put it down.

When I have finished the mix I thought it just need something more. I resolved to add scratches in the bridge and the end of the song. I'm not a good scratcher, so I tried to do something special that could improve a bit the song and characterize it. I
reached to get "TO THE FIVE BOROUGHS" from different Beasties acapella's, and I believe it could be a nice with some discreet scratching's on the background.
It took me a lot of time to do this remix, because I wanted to sound as professional as possible. I hope you could feel this one and enjoy the song.
