One
Hour Of Girl Power opens with some camcorder footage taken way back in August
1995 - they're having a pillow fight! Next the Girls welcome you to the official
video, volume one - suggesting there are more videos to come!
If you
thought their Baywatch poster, called Spicewatch, was good then you get to see
some video clips taken while the photos were shot. Next up is the first of the
full length music videos appearing on the tape, Wannabe.
For the Say
You'll Be There video, the Girls were taught some basic martial arts moves by a
professional instructor to make them fit their PVC cladded characters they play
in the video. Throughout the entire one hour video the Girls talk about what's
happening and talk to the camera. Geri fans will get to see a close up of her
black panther tatoo located on her back, very low down! Say You Be There is
played from the beginning so you get to see the opening bits where the girls are
introduced as Katrina Highkick, Trixie Firecracker etc.
Mel B reveals
that she didn't need to wear glasses until September 1996. Okay, there's video
clips of the Girl's trip to Paris in the same month, and then to the Far East.
They talk to this guy and then afterwards say he was a prat! Next up is the 2
Become 1 video in full and after that there's more camcorder footage of the
Girls turning on the Oxford Street Christmas lights in London, November 96. Mel
B said she didn't want to leave as they were having such a great time with the
huge crowd of fans!

The making of the Comic Relief
video, Who Do You Think You Are, involved the Spice Girl's doubles, comediennes
and singer Lulu (who plays Emma), dressing up and looking ridiculously funny! Of
course, the special video is shown which has never been released before. During the making of the Mama video, Geri gets to drive an eight wheel amphibious buggy onto the set! The crowd shown in the video was a real crowd of fans who went wild when the Girls came on stage and even when they were introduced to the Girl's mums. At one point the younger people in the crowd sat around the Girls and everyone sang Say You'll Be There. Geri gave this little girl a great big hug and the girl wouldn't let go! In Jan 97 they went to New York and had a photo session at the top of the Empire State Building. A helicopter filmed them holding an American and British flag. Then they visit an American radio station and give this DJ a dose of Girl Power - he tells them to pick up some American guys but he's soon put in his place! If anyone didn't see them perform at the Brit Awards in February 97 then the highlights and the performance of Who Do You Think You Are are on the video - except the part when Geri popped out of her dress! And that's just about it - just under one hour of Girl Power! Oh yeah, and at the very, very end you're shown some cheesy merchandise they've been trying to sell since last September. I would have thought they'd have some new cooler stuff by now! |

The video is on sale in the UK for £12.99 and can be bought for as little as £10.99 in some high street shops. The Spice Shack has no information about availability elsewhere in the world, so please contact your local music and video retailer for details specific to your country.
