Spice World Knocked by Critics  11/Dec/98
Film critics from around the world agree on one thing: The new Spice Girl's movie is terrible! Comments taken from newspaper and TV journalists include: "The Spice Girls can't act", "Lightweight and dull", "I couldn't wait for it to end", "I needed a cattle prod to keep me awake". As we all know, critics are not always right so it's worth waiting for it's release to find out for yourselves. This basically means one of two things: the media has now become anti Spice Girls, or the movie is genuinely awful. The Spice Shack reserves it's opinion until the movie is released on 26th December.

Leading music industry wiz, Jonathan King, has predicted the Spice Girls will split in March 98.

Too Much is not enough  11/Dec
Fans fear that the Spice Girls new release, Too Much, will not make it to the number one spot this Christmas. There's fierce competition from the Teletubbies and another Diana tribute song to raise money for her charities.

The number 1 Christmas toy in the UK will not be the new Spice Girls dolls as they are selling very badly according to leading toy stores. They're being outsold by Teletubbie dolls!

NB: Teletubbies are strange human-like creatures in bright colours with weird TV aerials on their heads. They talk like 2 year old children but are very popular in the UK - more so than the Spice Girls!

Spain Boos Spices Off Stage  15/Nov
As the Spice Girls appeared on stage during an awards ceremony in Spain, the crowd began shouting and booed the Girls off stage. Apparently the Girls had banned anyone in the audience from taking photographs. They gave similar rules to the Swedish press last month but when the press said they would boycott the press conference, the Girls decided not to visit Sweden.

In England and the US, sales of the new album have been very disappointing according to music retailers. Sales in the UK were shadowed by sales of the new Oasis album, outselling Spice World by 4 to 1.

Genius Manager Gets Fired!  8/Nov
In a surprise move the Spice Girls sacked their manager, Simon Fuller, the man who made the Spice Girls. Simon lured the five-some away from their original manager in 1995 and gave them their own unique characters creating the Spice Girls as we know them today. The unanswered question is why the girls would get rid of the man who gave them fame beyond their wildest dreams? (Not forgetting $10M each!)

New Album Released!  3/Nov
Spice World, the second album from the Spice Girls, was released in the UK on 3rd November 1997. The tracks are a highly polished mixture of Brit-pop tunes, sounding decisively different from their original 1996 album. Ex Manager Slates Spices!  7/Oct
The original Spice Girls manager, Ian Lee, who once auditioned hundreds of girls for the band has spoken out. In an interview on UK's Live TV he said "They don't sing anymore, they mime, and they don't dance. They've lost it. They've got sucked in by their own marketing machine.... This time next year we'll be talking about someone else." Sour grapes or the honest voice of "Father Spice"? You can voice your views in the Spice Shack Discussion Forum.

New Album & Movie Update  7/Oct

Girls Flee Britain!  23/Aug
With a potential tax bill of £32 million ($50M), reports the Daily Express, the Spice Girls are leaving Britain to live in Austria to escape payment. Friends say the Girls are upset about their self imposed exile, but that leaves a very bad example to honest tax payers earning considerably less than them.

This year they earnt £8M each but in 1998 it could double to £16M. Tax at 40% could generate a total bill of around £32M. Because they will be staying out of Britain they would not have to pay the British taxman a penny. £32M would go a long way in supporting underfunded hostpitals and education.

An aide said "They have made a lot of money and do not want it to go to the taxman... They have chosen Austria because it is a small country where they can blend into their surroundings."
