TOM MORELLO MARCHES AGAINST SWEATSHOPS, CHILD LABOR

Rage Against the Machine's potically active guitarist Tom Morello will take part in the March of Conscience on Saturday (Oct. 4) in Los Angeles to protest sweatshops and child labor. The march, which is part of the National Day of Conscience, will take place in the garment district in downtown L.A.

This demonstration is sponsored by a coalition of religious, labor, and public policy organizations, which includes UNITE (Union of Needle Trades, Industrial, and Textile Employees), Witness for Peace, Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, Korean Immigrant Worker Advocates, and the Westside Alliance for Democracy. They are calling for such companies as Disney, Guess, and Nike to change the heinous conditions in the overseas sweatshops they use to make their products.

Morello spoke out about sweatshops and child labor -- as one of the many causes he's been concerned with -- on his Radio Free L.A. broadcast in January. Plans are underway for a second Radio Free L.A.
