Earls Court London
September 25, 1997

Oasis played the Earls Court, London on Thursday, September 25th to a 22,000 strong mad for it crowd who like me had spent most of the day down the pub. The Verve opened the show very quickly and soon had the crowd in a mad frenzy with songs like Lucky Man, Sonnet and Bitter Sweet Symphony, half the songs that they played were not familiar with the crowd because there album had not been released yet but the crowd loved them, towards the end of there hour warm up set the crowd wanted Oasis, there were chants of " OASIS! ", " OASIS! " when there were glimses of Liam giving autographs up on the balcony above. The Verve set ended and they got a well deserved applause, I went to get another beer from the stall and came back into the hall where you could see a mist of smoke and a strong smell of CK1 aftershave filling the arena. After about a half an hour wait of the people setting up the hyped up stage the big curtain fell to reveal there wonderfull set with a man dressed in a policemans uniform, he continually ran round the stage to the ticks of the big clock until you could hear the intro music to "Be Here Now" and then he opened up the telephone box and out bowled Noel, Liam, Guigs, Whitey and Bonehead, Liam walked up to his mike and shouted " London, Yer Mad Fer It?! " and the crowd replied with a huge roar, and then got the house rocking with a more Rock 'n' Roll version of Be Here Now. Next was a cool " Stay Young " followed by "Some Might Say" then the group kicked into D'ya Know What I Mean? followed by Roll With It. Liam left the stage after about 10 songs, to let Noel played a breathtaking " Magic Pie ", then the boys casme back onto the stage and Liam shouted " Roll With It " and Noel followed up by saying " Last time we played this song here, we woke up the neighbours, this time we're GUNNA RAISE THE FUKIN ROOF " and the crowd roared as Noel cranked up " Roll With It ". After a few more songs a speeded up version of " Fade In Out " came on and the crowd went wild, it was excellent, Noel showed his true guitar talents at the ending of " Champagne Supernova " and then the crowd said goodbye and went off, chants of Oasis could be heard a mile off as they bowled back on for there Encore of Acquisce which was more wild than ever. It was a wicked night, Oasis played the best I have ever heard them play before, Liam left by kicking over a speaker after desperatly looking for something to destroy!
