September 3, 1999: No Doubt performance at October 7th!

Beck, Cypress Hill, and Eminem will be among the performers at the inaugural ARTISTdirect Online Music Awards. Fans will determine the winners in 15 music-related categories, ranging from favorite hip-hop artist to best unsigned artist site. The event will be held Oct. 7 at the House of Blues in Los Angeles and webcast live starting at 8:30 p.m. ET at www.artistdirect.com.

Comedy duo Tenacious D will host the show, which will also feature performances by No Doubt, the Offspring, and Chris Isaak. Members of Metallica, Long Beach Dub Allstars, Dwight Yoakam, and Dave Navarro will be among the award presenters.

The five winners of ARTISTdirect's virtual talent search, "Born On The World Wide Web," will also perform at the ceremony. The competition, going on now through Sept. 23 at bornonthewww.com, has received over 1700 entries.

The nominations for the Online Music Awards were based on an analysis of the 100 most visited sites on music search engine the Ultimate Band List (www.ubl.com), which is a part of the ARTISTdirect Network.

The "special" thing happening in October, as posted by Tom on the No Doubt Homepage probably refers to a series of so-far unannounced California club dates that they're planning to play this fall, according to a source close to the band.
