Limp Bizkit Eyes Tom Cruise For "M:I2" Video

As the members of Limp Bizkit continue to work on their forthcoming album, the group already has plans for its next video, but it's not for any of the tracks on the band's "Significant Other."

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst will soon return to the director's chair to shoot a video for the band's contribution to the soundtrack of the upcoming "Mission: Impossible 2." The "M:I2" album will also find Metallica kicking in a new cut called "I Disappear," a new Rob Zombie song called "Scum Of The Earth," and the Foo Fighters and Brian May teaming to cover Pink Floyd's "Have A Cigar."

In bringing Limp's version of the series' legendary theme song to television, Durst hopes to rope in "M:I2" star Tom Cruise for the clip. "We're going to be out in the middle of the desert, my band, just standing there with our gear on the dirt," Durst told MTV News recently of his plans for the video. "[The] wind's blowing and tumbleweeds.... We're just going to be looking at each other like, 'What's the deal?' It's going to cut to Tom Cruise in the car with his co-star, the girl [Thandie Newton], and she's gonna go 'So where we goin'?' And he's gonna punch on the navigation system and it's gonna go 'Mr. Cruise will be there exactly in...' and the car's gonna pull right in front [of us]. He's going to get out of the car and sit in a chair, right in front of us, and I'm gonna be like, 'So is the song gonna be in the movie?' And he's gonna go, 'I don't know. Let's check it out.' And we're gonna start performing the song, and he's really unaffected. Pretty much throughout the song he's gonna get more and more into it. By the end of the song, I'm gonna have him dancing like 'Risky Business.'"

While the plan looks good on paper, a spokesperson for Cruise says that the actor is not yet confirmed to appear in the video due to scheduling conflicts.

The "M:I2" soundtrack is slated to drop in early May, with the film to follow shortly thereafter.

News on New LP Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst took a break from recording his band's new album to rub elbows with Leonardo DiCaprio, Ben Stiller, Lauren Holly, and others at the Playboy mansion late last week.

Durst was one of many music notables (including rapper Xzibit and members of Korn, No Doubt, Hole, and Orgy) who turned out last Thursday for a party marking the release of the "Playboy" Sex & Music issue. The April edition of the magazine (which features cover girl Bijou Phillips) features the winners of the magazine's readers poll, including Limp Bizkit's Video Of The Year award for "Nookie."

At the party, Durst addressed Limp's progress on its new album and also revealed the band's DIY solution to its recent split with producer Rick Rubin.

"I decided to produce it myself," Durst told MTV News. "It's going really good. We've got like nine songs (written). We're going into the studio Monday to start recording, and hopefully we'll create like five or six more songs in the studio."

In addition to those revealing facts, Durst also joked that the new album will be called, "'Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water'...I'm Chocolate Starfish, and the band is the Hot Dog Flavored Water."

A spokesperson for Limp's label, Flip/Interscope, noted that the album is still being assembled under the tentative title "Limpdependence Day," and it's tentatively slated for release on July 4.

Christina Opts for a song with Fred

Pop singer Christina Aguilera has recently been quoted saying she's tired of her teen-pop image and would like to record a duet with Korn or Limp Bizkit.
"I would love to!" raves the 19-year-old. "Can I tell you? Just doing something off the hook with Fred Durst would be really, really cool. I'm a big fan of theirs. To tell you the truth, pop music is what I listen to least, because my mind's always wandering off to different places. I never want to be a straight pop artist myself. I'm a big fan of Limp Bizkit, Korn, and I love the Rage Against the Machine record."
Sure Christina, you just keep dreamin' of getting that dream duo with LB or Korn.....
