Limp Bizkit invited Kerrang! to the two-day shoot for their new 'Mission: Impossible 2'
track on May 8 and 9. The new song is title 'Take A Look Around' and will be released in
the UK as a single on July 3 through Polydor.
Directed by frontman Fred Durst, the video was filmed at the 24-hour diner Johnny's Broiler,
in Downey, a county outside Los Angeles. The tongue-in-cheek storyline sees the Bizkit being sent on
their own impossible mission to intercept a mysterious computer disk from the bad guys.
The 'madcap' six-minute adventure includes a fight scene in which Durst, disguised as a waiter,
beats up a villian. In the first take Durst went overboard. "I gotta do things for real,
otherwise it looks fake," he told the crew. "Is he okay?!"
Guitarist Wes Borland and bassist Sam Rivers go undercover in the diner as waitresses, while
DJ Lethal and drummer John Otto become short-order cooks who pour hot sauce into a bad guy's
soup.
In Durst's trailer after shooting, the frontman spoke to Kerrang! about his vision for 'Take A
Look Around'. "I hate it when bands do songs from movies and they're cheesy," he said. "I love
'Take A Look Around'-it's one of my favorites. We wrote and produced it in a day. It was crazy!"
Durst reveals that, while Americans will have to buy the whole 'Mission: Impossible 2' soundtrack
to get 'Take A Look Around', fans in the UK will find it tagged on to the Bizkit's imminent studio
album 'Chocolate Starfish & The Hot Dog Flavored Water', which is out on August 7 through Polydor.
Durst added that 'Take A Look Around' lyrically sees him responding to his band's harshest critics.
"There's so much hate in the world," he said. "I understand, because that's all we see out there. So
I'm going, 'I'm not mad at you for hating me'. Limp Bizkit don't live in this hate world, because
it's such a short life, man. It really goes by."
'Mission: Impossible 2' hits US cinemas on May 24. It opens here on July 7. The soundtrack album
is out on June 19 through Hollywood/Edel.
