them via Ticketmaster locations or by going to ticketmaster.com.
For those of you who missed the Goo's skit on Leno last Thursday, the show is set to rerun at
2:05am Eastern time this Wednesday night(early Thursday morning), so if you missed it, it'd be a good idea to set your
VCRs, cuz it was quite a show. :)
Today I added Erin from Ohio, Lizzy from Los Angeles, and Shanelle from Oregon to the AIM Chat Directory. Check it out!
And for those of you who still don't know, this is Mike Cardosa([email protected]) doing all of the updates
in Alex's place because he is not able to do them at this time. Feel free to drop me an email anytime you want and we can chat about the Goos or something.
4/16/00 - I'm sure all of you are eager for today's update. Yesterday's update
was a real drooler -- it got everyone's taste buds going on the GGD's future plans for
their current and upcoming CDs. Today is the second of the two updates exclusive
to the World of Goo brought to us by a inside source that has close ties to Warner Bros. Enjoy! Here it is:
Dear Mr. Cardosa,
...the DVD and video would be a release of the concert that
they played in Buffalo prior to Christmas and the tour of the Military bases.
The DVD and video would be the same tracks that are expected to make it on a
live album planed to be released for sometime in early summer while they are
recording their follow up to Dizzy Up The Girl. Also it is rumored that John
has written at least 10 songs that Warner Bros. is enthralled by and are pushing
for the next album as soon as possible. John is currently looking into playing
a role in a movie that's script was brought to him by someone at Crash Films,
but that is only being considered and he is not making any comments regarding
it.
4/15/00 - Early update today! Just a reminder that the Goos will be on the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards today at 8pm EST/5pm PST! Cynthia who was able to get in on the taping this morning of it saw them perform Broadway and Slide, with lots of fireworks going off during Slide. Don't miss it tonight at 8pm EST/5pm PST!!
An insider with close connections to Warner Bros. sent me an email yesterday that I think all of you will be drooling over. Here it is:
Dear Mike,
Word has it that the Goo Goo Dolls are planning a live album release as
a pre-lude to the next album. The set was supposedly recorded when they
played Buffalo before Christmas and that there was video crews there at
the time. The rumors I have heard as [a close insider] is that they
will be doing a Video and DVD release at the same time, sorta like Dave
Matthews did with Listner Supported. Allowing fans to be almost given
something while we wait on a new album that is said to be out in
possibly September of 2000. Also it is said that the live album will
allow them to release songs like Bulletproof and Hate This Place as new
singles from the tour instead of Dizzy Up The Girl. Just letting you
know what I have heard.
WOW, digest that one for yourselves! In tomorrow's update, I'll include another
email from this cool guy that talks about specifically what that DVD and Video
will be made up of specifically, as well as how many songs John has written
so far and the reactions they have gotten from Warner Bros. about the songs.
Tomorrow's update will also include information about a role that John was recently
offered in a movie that he is contemplating. Good stuff!
4/14/00 - The Goo Goo Dolls are going to be on a soundtrack for a new Jim Carrey movie entitled "Me, Myself & Irene!" The soundtrack also features other big names such as the Offspring, Smash Mouth, and Third Eye Blind. The Goos are listed at the top of the list, though, so it should be good.
4/13/00 - Hope everyone caught the Goos on Leno last night! I thought I'd include another clip from the article I featured yesterday from the New York Times News Service by Joey Guerra entitled "A Goo-Goo-Good life." Here it is:
Rzeznik has used his new visibility to branch into other areas of interest. He was a guest on Politically Incorrect and has hosted programs on MTV and VH1. He's also writing music for a Disney project and for "some people I respect a lot and grew up listening to their records and really loved them." (He wouldn't get more specific than that.)
What could this mean? It's open to your free interpretations. :) In other news, I added Shay to the AIM Chat Directory today, so check it out if you'd like!
4/12/00 - FLASH! The Goos are going to be on Leno tonight!! Set your VCRS!! It's a segment called Jaywalking. :)
In today's update I'd like to include a clip from an article from the New York Times News Service by Joey Guerra that Matt was so
nice to send me. Thanks, Matt! Here it is:
"Dizzy Up the Girl" is the band's sixth album, and it showcases a sweeter, more accessible sound. The album has sold more than 3 million copies. A fourth single from it -- "Broadway" -- was released March 28.
"I was hoping that the record would do well, of course, but I didn't think it was going to do as well as it has," Rzeznik said. "Things just evolve. I sort of have no control over what happens with the songs. Sometimes I'm afraid I might wake up one morning with an entire record of polka songs."
Rzeznik has already been writing for the band's next album, but no release date has been set.
"It's 10 seconds of inspiration and 10 months of being annoyed and having to do the day-to-day pounding of actually hammering into it," Rzeznik said. "It's all so tentative right now. It's hard to even say what the heck it's going to wind up being."
Once again, thanks Matt! Some other site news - today I added Justin and Meg to the AIM Chat Directory! Be sure to check it out.
4/11/00 - The Goos will be playing at the Colorado State Fair on Monday, August 28th! The
tickets go on sale on May 13th at 10:00am MST. Call 719-566-0530 for more information.
Some site news! I added Stephanie E. to our AIM chat directory today,
so please check out that section!
Also, I would like to add that I have been receiving an endless
amount of emails asking about myself and my web experience. I'm a very big GGD fan, and
I've been working with web site development for over 7 years, so it's quite a good mixture.
I realize that many of you Goo fans out there depend on this site for your Goo news and I promise
you that just like Alex, I will never let you down. If you have any concerns or would just
like to chat about the Goos, please email me([email protected])! Thank you for making this site the most popular
and the most successful Goo Goo Dolls fan site on the web! :)
4/10/00 - News flash! It's a press release from the Goos!
GOO GOO DOLLS TO PERFORM AT NICKELODEON'S 13TH ANNUAL KIDS' CHOICE AWARDS;
"BROADWAY" GETS OVER 100 ADDS AT RADIO AS DIZZY UP THE GIRL CLIMBS 30
POINTS ON BILLBOARD'S TOP 200 ALBUM CHART!
Multi-platinum recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls will perform two songs
at Nickelodeon's 13th Annual Kids' Choice Awards this week in Los Ang
eles. The event, taped at the Hollywood Bowl, will air Saturday, April
15th from 8-9:30 PM ET/PT. Master of Ceremonies, Rosie O'Donnell, will
preside over the annual event where kids choose their favorites in
entertainment by casting their votes at participating Burger King
restaurants and at nick.com.
This past week the Goo Goo Dolls latest single, "Broadway," received over
100 adds at radio, propelling the group's sixth album, DIZZY UP THE GIRL,
up 30 points from 155 to 125* on Billboard's Top 200 Album Chart. DIZZY
UP THE GIRL has been on the album chart for 80 weeks and has sold over 3
million copies. Four singles off the album, "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy" and
"Black Balloon" have accumulated over a million plays at radio.*
The video treatment for "Broadway," written by comedian Bobcat Goldthwait,
is now in rotation on MTV and VH-1. The clip is a parody on the rock star
mystique where ordinary factory workers punch in their time clocks and
join the make-over assembly line that transforms them into glamorous rock
stars. This star imagery machine proves that rock stars are really just
old balding fat men and women in really good makeup. The video was
directed by Nancy Bardawil who also directed videos for "Iris," "Slide,"
"Dizzy," and "Black Balloon."
The Goo Goo Dolls can be seen on several television programs this month.
First up, the band filmed a comedy skit last week while at the Tonight
Show, which is set to air Thursday, April 13th. The skit involves an
"audition" for the highly anticipated Diana Ross & the Supremes tour that
required the band members to borrow some special items from NBC's wardrobe
department!
Performances by the group can be seen on the popular television series
CHARMED on Thursday, April 27th and on MAD-TV will air Saturday, April
29th. An upcoming appearance by band member Robby Takac on VH-1's The
List, will be announced shortly.
Additional concert performances and television appearances by the Goo Goo
Dolls will be announced as soon as they become available.
4/9/00 - It's confirmed! On SEPTEMBER 1ST, the Goo Goo Dolls will put on a live performance at the Champlain Valley Fair in ESSEX JUNCTION, VERMONT, and TONIC's going to open for them! Call 802-863-5966 for tickets.
I've been busy making a lot of site updates. I updated the AIM chat directory today, adding Christiane and Tracy. Also, in the fan encounters section, I added stories/photos from Kelly and Tiffany. Be sure to check those items out!
4/8/00 - The Goos are going to make an appearance on TRACKERS(a show on the new OXYGEN Network) on Friday, April 14th where they'll be playing Slide!
For more information about Trackers, go to trackers.net.
I hope I'm not the only one who hasn't heard of Trackers before!
For our European Goo fans, the Tonight Show with Jay Leno featuring the GGD playing Broadway
will be aired in Europe TOMORROW(Sunday, April 9th) on CNBC at 9:00pm CET(Central European Time). Thanks, Mojo!
4/7/00 - Lots of updates today!! - The Goos are going to be at the NICKELODEON KIDS CHOICE AWARDS where they will perform
"Broadway" with 8 MILLION KIDS watching!! The show will be taped at the Hollywood Bowl on
Friday, April 14th and will be aired on Nickelodeon on Saturday, April 15th at 8pm EST/5pm PST!
The Goo Goo Dolls will be playing in the Million Dollar Wango Tango 2000 concert, which
is set for May 13 in Los Angeles' Dodger Stadium. One lucky concertgoer will have the chance
to win $1 million! ("the chance," LOL)
This summer the Goos will be playing at the Colorado State fair in Pueblo, Colorado. The
date is not set for sure, but the fair runs from August 19th thru September 4th. Make your
travel arrangements! :)
4/6/00 - Hello, all! This is Mike Cardosa stepping in for Alex
and I'll be the one posting the updates. Please feel free to drop me an email at your
own discretion... I'm dying to get to know other huge Goo fans like me out there and to chat about the Goos.
My ICQ# is 10488229 and my email address is [email protected].
Did any of you catch Leno last night? The Goos put on a spectacular show, performing
Broadway at its finest. Anyone notice a little green dye still in John's hair from the
music video taping(or was it just the lighting effects)? I think it looks great on John, it's cool to associate colors with
songs like that in a creative way.
(Switches to Casey Casum voice)
Our good friend Cynthia was able to get in on the Leno show last night, and she had a great
time! She made us aware of an additional special Goo apprearance on Leno(a humorous skit) to come in the near future,
so please read on!
Just got in from the Leno taping. Those of you on the East Coast are
watching it now but I just want to say it was a lot of fun. I got a
cigar from John Travolta which was totally cool!!
Anyway, the band sounded great, looked great and seemed to be having a
lot of fun as well. They played "Broadway" of course. John and Robby
were both in black and seemed to be very relaxed. We even got to see
them do a skit in drag for next weeks "Jaywalking" segment. They were
wearing silver dresses and I remember John in red high heeled pumps
because he went to throw one to me and it hit the lights and I never got
it. It sounds like I am suffering from sleep depravation but I am not.
Set your VCR's for Leno for Tuesday and Wednesday of next week as well.
Thanks Cynthia!
Some site news now! The chat directories have been updated; if you want to be listed, just
send me an email and I'll add you. Also, three new
fabulous sound files made by Scott have been added to the sounds section:
MIDI versions of Slide, Black Balloon, and Acoustic #3(they're the three in the top row of DUTG). Nice job, Scott!
4/4/00 - Due to some recent events in my life, this will be my last update
of the World of Goo - at least temporarily. If I don't get another update,
let me just thank you all for making my side project at work into the
biggest, best, most popular Goo Goo Dolls site on the web!
Until further notice, Mike Cardosa ([email protected]) will be continuing to update the site. I will forward him the same information I have always received, so there will be no lack of updates or information. I have full confidence in Mike and hope you give him the same! Feel free to email him and say hi!
(And don't miss the Goo's on the Leno Show tomorrow night!)
