But the Goo's are my faves. So I will just have to buy both cd's when they come out! Same as Van Halen, Smashing Pumpkins, and Eric Clapton. These are just projected dates; I'd be surprised if they all came out at once. ---------------- Matt Mauler Cundill *Acadia Alumni '92 Assn't Program Director *LCC Alumni '87 100.3 FM The Bear *Bring Back Stubbies Edmonton, Alberta *Member Cdn. Cute comment but the bottom line is that it is going to be a busy month for the record buyer. So far, the spring releases looks like this... Pearl Jam Yield February 3 Eric Clapton TBA February Van Halen VH III February Goo Goo Dolls TBA February Jerry Cantrell Bogey Depot March Smashing Pumpkins Acoustic April As someone pointed out earlier in this thread, there is competition for sales. Bands will always have their core following, but casual record shoppers may be inclined to buy the new Pearl Jam, Van Halen, and Eric Clapton - and this is where suucess is attained. The strong sales of "A Boy Named Goo" can be attibuted to the "Name". (A song the record company didn't even release it as a single until KROQ starting playing it and got great reaction to it. The first single "The Only One" went nowhere.) "Name" was played on tons of Top 40, Rock, AC and Alternative radio stations. In many cases, on adult contemporary type stations would follow up "Name" with (gasp!) Eric Clapton's "Change the World". Point is, it's more than just rock and alternative listeners who become fans of the Goo Goo Dolls. Those people will have to be repeat buyers of the band's product in order for them to equal or better the success of their last album. ---------------- Matt Mauler Cundill *Acadia Alumni '92 Assn't Program Director *LCC Alumni '87 100.3 FM The Bear *Bring Back Stubbies Edmonton, Alberta *Member Cdn. I agree with you comments 100 % but i'm one of the few that wouldnt even think of buying any of these releases: >Pearl Jam Yield February 3 >Eric Clapton TBA February >Van Halen VH III February >Jerry Cantrell Bogey Depot March >Smashing Pumpkins Acoustic April "When I Smoke,Caugh You Up.
