From Cheese16@webtv.net Tue Jun 16 18:42:14 1998 It is truely unfortunate to hear how many of you haven't seen the Goo Goo Dolls in concert. I have seen the more than 10 times, anywhere from bars, to small college shows, in ballparks, and large arena sellouts, everytime I go I hear them perform something I have never heard them do live before. I have even had the oppourtunity to meet them on several occasions, I truely come away from the shows loving them more than I did before! It is a great feeling and I believe that anyone else who has seen them will tell you the same, RIGHT? See Ya, Cheese From fabfay@aol.com Wed Jun 17 06:00:38 1998 Hi Ryan and other Lucky Goo fans! My website features an area called Goo Encounters. If you've met the Goos and want to share your experience, email me your story. Or if you want to add a review of a Goo show you saw--that's cool, too. Some of the reviews/encounters that are on the site are really good--it's a great way to experience it if you haven't been fortunate enough to see the Goo Goo Dolls play live. My email is and the website address is: http://members.aol.com/fabfay/googoodolls.html The Magic of a Goo Goo Dolls show lives on forever!! Fay From ptmcnee@aol.com Wed Jun 17 06:56:02 1998 Yes, Ryan you are correct! No Goo show is the same as the last one, and they just get better and better. For those of you who haven't seen them YET, you are in for a treat. Make sure you see them on their next tour. You won't be disappointed. :)) Theresa From rphpeet@nf.sympatico.ca Wed Jun 17 07:21:57 1998 Ever notice how many of us are from CANADA. Can anyone else say CANADIAN TOUR. No wait, they cut those off in Halifax, can anyone say ***COMPLETE*** Canadian Tour. If they came all the way to Halifaz and then turned around, I'd....I'd.... Heidi (No, I am not bitter) From ptmcnee@aol.com Wed Jun 17 18:07:32 1998 What? Cry? :\ Ok Heidi, heres the deal, we can do a trade. You send us Bucket Truck, The Tea Party, and Moist, all the way to Chicago, and I'll send you the Goo's! How is that? I know, I'm being greedy by wanting to see all three of those bands, and I would be only sending you one band....but it would be the Goo's! :)) THE GOO GOO DOLLS!!! If only I could, I would. :))) I'm sure they will head your way though. Have you written to Robby to ask him? Theresa From jc430@nyu.edu Thu Jun 18 00:57:40 1998 you know... add sloan to that list too? can't wait until they go on tour in america... anywho... speaking of goo concerts, i've been to a few myself... when they were playing when superstar just came out... and they played in buffalo, in the armory they were amazing... they always usually had very good opening acts also... lowest of the low... anyone go to that one? it's also a treat when lance diamond comes on... and does a couple... if anyone gets a chance to see the goos in buffalo do... might get a glmpse of lance diamond... he's the man... jason From ptmcnee@aol.com Thu Jun 18 06:18:38 1998 I've been lucky enough to have seen Lance a couple of times while in Buffalo with the Goo's, and he is amazing. He puts on a great show. It would be awesome if the Goo's could take Lance on tour with them sometime. :) Theresa From Cheese16@webtv.net Thu Jun 18 07:41:27 1998 speaking of "the Man" Lance Diamond I've seen him several times performing around Buffalo, no big concerts, but if you are lucky enough you can see the Goo's at his show watching their friend Lance perform!!!!! See Ya, Cheese From rphpeet@nf.sympatico.ca Thu Jun 18 09:15:03 1998 Heehee. Theresa made me laugh :) Yea, I did ask Robby. I also said, "Look, I'll rent the Edge (its only 90 bucks), I'll make you dinner and you can stay ay my house if ya want, you just gotta get up here." It didn't quite work....:~) Heidi From Matt@guilt-trip.demon.co.uk Fri Jun 19 08:25:19 1998 Hey Man, Don't rub it in!!! :) I live in the UK and have been a Goo fan for years but have never even heard of them doing a UK tour. It's difficult enough just to get hold of the albums! I would love to see them but there just doesn't seem to be opertunities for them to get over here. Mainly 'cos crappy UK radio doesn't play *rock* music 'cos it's considered sooooo uncool over here, we just get hours of Britpop. But.......I hope this will change soon as according to my local record shop "Iris" will be released over here on 29th June and it deffinatly has the potential to be a hit, even in the UK music climate!! I just hope it gets some airtime and the band get enough exposure over here to allow them to do a club or theatre tour for the next album. See ya Matt 8-) -- Matthew Goodson From ptmcnee@aol.com Fri Jun 19 09:26:30 1998 That is great news that they are going to release Iris in the UK!! Its becoming a huge hit here in the States so hopefully everyone there will like it too. :) Theresa From Cheese16@webtv.net Fri Jun 19 18:11:28 1998 HAA, HA, Matt, all you get to hear on the radio is Oasis, they suck, I pity you. See Ya, Cheese From romeo2143@aol.com Sat Jun 20 04:34:35 1998 okay now this is not good, all this talk about "NOT" saying how other groups suck....OASIS RULES!!!! you go and say how saying how you shouldn't have said the hip sucks but here you go again saying that Oasis sucks, who are you to say that they suck? Cheers Ruben From Cheese16@webtv.net Sat Jun 20 09:17:59 1998 Oasis is not good, I am a person who sells music and I can track sales of albums, and I can tell you by the amount of Oasis that we sell in the store that not many buy them, that's who I am. I also have friends from London and they all dislike Oasis, you can only sound like the Beatles if you ARE the Beatles! PLUS, the only time you get a good amount of follow-ups to anyhting on a newsgroup is if it causes a clash of opinions, and everyone puts their 2 cents in! SO, CHILL! See Ya, Cheese From romeo2143@aol.com Sun Jun 21 05:58:03 1998 Okay, this is where i can say, hmmm maybe some people dislike GGD's, and maybe they're friends dislike it also, but A LOT OF PEOPLE do like GGD's and as well as for Oasis, i can bet you anything, if you put a tour for Oasis, and GGD's i bet you MORE people would go to an Oasis concert...plus what is this sh*t about beatles, they're not trying to sound like the beatles, they love the beatles as much as the next person, and i don't see anything wrong with that. You are just "ONE" person who sells music...you're not this almighty person who knows every sale of every album thats sold throughout the world...and you say Oasis is not good? in matter of fact Oasis is coming out with an album with just their B sides, how many Music Groups you think can do that???? Now this is my 2cents! Cheers, Ruben From rafx@the-beatles.com Sun Jun 21 08:47:53 1998 OK I guess I will throw in my 5 cents worth......yes Oasis would sell out a concert more easily that GGD's but that due to the fact that Oasis are under a different type of recording deal which enables them to be promoted more heavily (or exploited). The GGD's have an upper advantage here as they have more control over the way they are utilized as a promotional vehicle for the record distributors, Oasis do not however. This is why Oasis is being burnt out a lot quicker than they would like to have been. GGD's have been around for quite sometime and thus have been very careful not to be used like meat in a slaughter house (good on them). Oasis = MASSIVE sellout concerts - quickly burnt out of the music scene GGD's = Medium ticket turnover but longer staying power. And you will ask who am I to judge? Well I work as a freelance music journalist and I travel all over to write and study all factors of the music sector. I worked recently with Oasis on their Aussie Tour and found that they couldn't sellout one concert in Australia as they had already burnt out in Oz. The band felt the under lying reason was to over promotion and bad judgment by the media over 'minor' scuffles on airlines and in pubs etc. (Oasis weren't on their best behavior as usual). Also on the 'Beatles' issue....Oasis do base their writing on the band The Beatles and have even stated that they are 'better' and will 'be more successful' than The Beatles could ever of imagined. I find that a rather over confident view to vocalize to the media, but they did it. This isn't a competition of Oasis vs GGD's. They are totally different talent with totally different ideals of what they want from being in the public eye and selling CD's. Both have accomplished an astonishing rise in their careers and both will continue to satisfy fans and music punters around the world. I am just glad that there is music for us to experience, in some countries they don't even know what a live concert is let alone a CD or Oasis. Lets no argue over music but be thankful we have the freedom to listen to it and choose to listen to what we prefer. Sorry this has raved on a bit, I don't mind if you don't even read it, but hey, it was damn good to get out of my system. :o) Regards Melanie From ted23mypantsblowme@flash.net Mon Jun 22 00:36:56 1998 I don't know if you are a new fan or not, but the Goo have had to fight comparisions to the Replacements and Husker Du for about 10 years now, just like you are attacking Oasis for sounding like the Beatles. Yeah, the Goo are better than all the bands they are influenced by (and accused (sp?) of "ripping off"), but there are alot of people out there who refuse to give them the time of day because they think they sound like Husker Du and the Replacements, just like you refuse to give Oasis the time of day for ripping off the Beatles. Yeah, from what I've heard of them, Oasis sucks, but "people stoned in glass houses..." remove the mypants and blowme to e-mail or reply
