Of course we all know the Goo > track MUST be great. How's the rest of the CD? The rest of the CD is okay... I'm not a fan of the other bands on the album, but I thought it was good for a soundtrack. Many of the songs are dark, much like the movie is supposed to be. I got an advance copy because I work at a radio station in Canada. We've already started playing the Goo Goo Dolls song in a medium rotation and I assumed that other station across North America would have at least featured the song once. Either way, the album is out today (June 10). Enjoy! Are there a lot of Goo fans in Japan? What age group are most of the fans in Japan--teens, 20's, etc? Over here it seems they have a huge following in the 20's-30's mainly because they've been following the band for years. One the commercials for the soundtrack, they don't even mention the Goo. You'd think a band that has been around for over 10 years AND sold over 3 million copies of their last record would get SOME kind of recognition. Wouldn't that be a great selling point for the CD? From: fabfay@aol.com (FABFAY) Date: 1997/06/15 Message-ID: <19970615123901.IAA14641@ladder02.news.aol.com> Newsgroups: alt.music.goo-goo-dolls [More Headers] I would think so. Do they feel that the band's name is too "silly" and would pull credibility from the ad? Or are they just unaware of the HUGE number of people this band can bring to the "check-out line?" I personally think it's quite an honor that the Goo Goo Dolls have had songs on soundtracks for the top movie of last summer and a projected hit for this summer. Maybe this one will bring them added recognition and get the Warner folks to take notice and start putting out what the fans want. Like maybe some "live" stuff. I heard "Lazy Eye" last night on the radio here in the Wash DC area. I LOVED it! Even a "non-goo" fan commented that it was a good song! Let's hope it's a HUGE hit!!! I mean that whole genre is pretty silly in itself (as much as I love all that stuff!). I think it came down to money. I would not doubt it at all if whoever put out the ads said to Warner Bros that "we will list the Goo Goo Dolls on the commercials if you pay us x amount of dollars". But, what hurts is when the critics write a review of the album and mention almost everyone EXCEPT the Goo Goo Dolls. They certainly are a major name and their song should be given mention. Fay
