Subject: JED & First Release From: fabfay@aol.com (FABFAY) Date: 1997/02/12 Message-ID: <19970212132701.IAA19063@ladder01.news.aol.com> Newsgroups: alt.music.goo-goo-dolls [More Headers] I'm just curious what some of the "new" fans think of the Goos older stuff like First Release and Jed. I consider a "new" Goo fan to be someone who is post-Name. (I fall into this catagory, btw.) I've gotten all the Goo CD's and LOVE them all, but the early stuff may be too "punky" for some people. So my question is, what do some of the rest of you think of it? Have you been pleasantly surprised (like me!) or are you disappointed? I hated Name when they first released it. Then I actually sat down and listened to it..=)...and I was hooked. Now, I learned the bass line before it was released in Guitar World, as well as the funky tuning for the guitar line, and the entire lead guitar part. By the way, DAEAEE is a *fucked up tuning!* Then, I started my search for all of the Goo albums, and luckily, one month, BMG music service was doing a kickin sale, and they, coincidentally, had the entire Goo history....=)...all 5 albums. So I guess you could say I lost control and bought all 4 albums(i already had boy named goo). Also, I saw them when they toured with Bush. Unfortunately, they already left before the show was over, and I didn't get a chance for autographs from the Goosters like I did from Bush...*evil grin*... But as for your question....I love the earlier albums more than I like b.n.g. Songs like Laughing, Don't Beat My Ass, Up Yours, and of course, the best cover..."Don't Fear the Reaper"...=)....i'm hoping that their new material is a regression back to their punk roots, although I much prefer Johnny's singing much more...=).... peace out y'all --Necromancer From: eaf69@aol.com (EAF69) Date: 1997/02/15 Message-ID: <19970215015701.UAA15578@ladder01.news.aol.com> Newsgroups: alt.music.goo-goo-dolls [More Headers] Well, I love all of the Goo stuff, but Superstar Carwash is my favorite album. I have all five & two CD singles, but the earlier stuff is a little too punky, but it still ROCKS!!!!!!!
