John uses Marshall amps live "As far as I'm concerned, the best Marshall's are the Mark II Lead 100-watt heads, the first ones with master volume, which they made from �75 to �81. Those are the best--with the 6550 power tubes"
On A Boy Named Goo, John used "two different Marshall heads and two different bottoms...I used an ESP Strat with an EMG in the bridge position for most of the tracks, and a Gibson Les Paul with an EMG in it for the extra- beefy stuff."
The green sparkle is a custom job from the Fender Custom Shop. Both Robby & Johnny are now endorsing Fender.
The formerly yellow, Boing Guitar, a cheap ESP whose lettering was changed to read Les Paul and was covered in black electrical tape in mockery of Eddie Van Halen, was recently overhauled in L.A;
Johnny formerly endorsed Epiphone and used an Epiphone Special II w/ a sunburst finish, pictures of which generated some interest here on the list;
Chuck Root has lent his Marshall Amp to Johnny during the recording processes for Hold Me Up, Superstar CarWash, and A Boy Named Goo;

6 1/2" x 14" snare drum (the snare is not a Starclassic series drum. It is a ten lug maple drum. The Starclassic snare only has eight lugs.)

The Band

The guys are using some Carvin rack equipment and loudspeakers, what they purchased was an S2442-1588 sound system package which includes:

a DX2442 mixer
2 DCM1500 amps
3 CM68 mics
4 1588 15" 800w spks
4 PH50, 2 XLR 8 & 2 SH2 cables
