In order to get into this exclusive very intimate goo show you had to follow clues and go to wherever this radio person was to prove how big a goo fan you were....well, i was 10 minutes from the park when they announced the winners were chosen....i had been driving for 2 hours at this point...so i called the radio staion yelling and crying just to voice my opinion. When i got home i emailed the station to complain and say that the way they chose the winners was unfair and they should have given people a chance to get there (they picked the first 9 people who showed up at the park, not the first 9 goo fans like they said they were going to do). I also posted a few messages on boards that i frequent, and sent out a few emails to some other loyal goo fans who i have grown close to, and miraculously with their help, i recieved an email from the program director of y-100 on sunday night inviting me to the show as a special guest of the morning show...and he apologized for the way the contest was run, so this was his way of making things up to me. I was so excited....but found that i had to go by myself since none of my friends were able to take the day off last minute. Fine by me....here's how the day of the show went..... Monday May 22, 2000.... I headed down to the Fontainbleu Hilton on south beach at approximately 6 am monday morning....took me a little over an hour to get there (stopped for coffee...and got lost)....but after being told to go to person after person, i finally got up to the suite...which was the suite used in the bodyguard by the way...very cool.....and when i knocked one of the interns took my name (and my email) and said to hold on. 30 seconds later he was escorting me to a seat....and i was in heaven!! Surrounded by people who looked so out of it, i felt great!! Just before the guys were set to come in, guess who sat down next to me...none other than harmonica man himself...DAVE (the tour mgr)!! He's actually not so bad when the guys aren't touring. I introduced myself to him and he even said that i seemed to be the most into the situation (definate plus on my side) So the guys came in (lots of screaming and clapping) and tuned their instruments...introduced "broadway" on the radio...did a little chatting w/the dj...then they started playing...first slide, then a Q&A period, then black balloon, then name, another Q&A period and finally naked (which sounded amazing acoustic). They then rushed out of the room (as john announced he had to pee....great huh??) They then lined everyone up and had us take a picture w/the band and it was over....that fast...it was all of about 45 minutes, but well worth the drive. Unfortunately i didn't get a chance to talk to them much and they wouldn't let them sign autographs. That was it...45 minutes, but they were the most incredible morning of my life. As i was waiting in line to have my picture taken with the guys, i was also interviewed for the local news (which the segment never aired...boohoo) and i was also on the local show "Deco Drive" for a split second in the background. I was so happy. I hope everyone else is as lucky as i was and gets a chance to see the band like this soon. To everyone who protested for me...I owe you big time...and if the GGD are actually getting a chance to read this....You rocked....and i want to thank you for doing such a wonderful show and making a fan's dream come true!!
