My friend ended up getting sick and not going. However (I am really excited about this!), I may be in Buffalo on GOO GOO DOLLS DAY (April 13th). I'm not sure yet, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed! I heard Naked on the radio sandwiched inbetween Bush and the Foo Fighters. At first I thought I had turned my CD player on or something. Anyway, I love the station that played it, but I was completely surprised. I live in St. Louis (John mentioned he loved StL on Rockline, I about died) and I haven't heard Broadway yet. I keep requesting it online, but they never play it. Are you guys hearing it over the airwaves? I'm sure you are in Buffalo! I read that article in Rolling Stone about George. Does anyone have any more informtion about this?! I would like to hear the other side of the story. I am a little behind on purchasing mags w/ goo. If anyone has a complete list of the magazines the guys are in, I would greatly appreciate it. I'm sure that somebody has on their website so I will check those. Celeste ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 20 Jan 2000 19:39:35 -0800 (PST) To: Goo@mailinglists.org From: Goo Goo Lover Subject: TEAM GOO!! WORKING TOGETHER TO OBTAIN DOLLS^Ò IN MAGAZINES, NEWS, ARTICLES, BOOKS, ETC. Message-ID: <20000121033935.2487.qmail@web1503.mail.yahoo.com> GOO'd evening everyone! I apologize for the length, however this is very important and could aid in everyone communicating and getting what they want without so many emails and/or posts to the list if you read and choose to use this information in your future emails. Below are (5) five things to aid us all in obtaining information on the Doll^Òs. Please take the time to read and if you cannot read now, please save in a file to look at later. First, let me say thank you to everyone who contributes to this list by submitting any information they discover regarding the Dolls^Ò, be it in a magazine, book and/or other publication. Secondly, please try to remember that when you are referencing one of these resourceful publications, newsletter, article, etc., please take the time to include the following so that everyone can enjoy your new-found information too. Other wise you are simply wasting your time and ours by offering us information which may be vague. Below are some examples (you could use this as a template for future reference, just save on your computers so that you can post easily the valid/important information): Publication^Òs Title: Rolling Stone Publication^Òs Cover Feature: Melissa Etheridge Date: February 3rd, 2000 Issue/Volume #: 833 Page(s) #: 19 Section/Location: Random Notes/Top right-hand corner Article/Contents: Performing on the USS John F. Kennedy in Bosnia and it talks about their recent plane mishap on the US Navy C-9 last month. Picture/Size?: Cool picture of John & Rob performing/ Small U.S. Amount: $3.00 Your Comments: Cool picture, but not worth the money in my opinion. Thirdly, if you have an online article or news that you want to share with the list, please include the link^Òs location. To do this: · Simply RIGHT click on whatever the site or the line which is found usually underneath the wanted link and click on COPY LINK LOCATION. · Then go into your email and/document and then RIGHT click once more and select PASTE. Its that simple! : ) This will give everyone the easy link to the file and/or image you want them to view. Which in return, will save not only sending and receiving several emails from those who may be confused or misinformed, but it will prevent so many uneccesaary posts from occuring on the list which can often be annoying and make so many irrate. Let me say that I personally do not have a problem with most of the emails on this listing. However, if I see something in which is of no interest to me, the DELETE key simply interjects! Fourthly, if we can all band together and collect all the publication^Òs information for future references like for back ordering, subscribing, and so forth, this would be quite beneficial for so many on this list. If you have them and would like to send them to me to gather up, great! Once we have compiled them all, I can post them and then you will need to save them for your own future refernce. OR even better, if someone has a Doll website who is willing to place this information on their site, please let me know. Here is another example below (remember, the more information obtained the better and don^Òt forget to include links and Internet sites as well): Rolling Stone Magazine (Main Office) 1290 Avenue of the Americas New York, New York 10104-0298 212-484-1616 Subscription Information Rolling Stone Magazine PO Box 420870 Palm Coast, Florida 32142-8338 904-445-7289 (8 a.m. - 9 p.m. EST) http://www.rollingstone.com Lastly, and this only a SUGGESTION (note the "key" word being, "suggestion") may or may not go over too well since we are all so unique and have so many different opinions? However, it is simply a possible SOLUTION to an ever increasing dilemma here on the list! I know that a lot of you subscribe to certain magazines monthly. What if those who are interested, would take their perspective monthly issue(s) and go through it with a fine tooth-comb for anything relating to the Dolls. And if you discover something, then use the template provided above and post it to the list. For example, a guy on the list may love sports, so he would subscribe to the ESPN Magazine and if and when he spots some "Goo News" he would then post this news to the list for everyone to enjoy. That person could be our ESPN correspondent so-to-speak and we would not have 5-10 people writing the same post over and over again that the Dolls^Ò were in this month^Òs ESPN (note, this is ONLY an example, the Dolls^Ò are not in the ESPN magazine this month. So please people, don^Òt rush out & grab yourself a copy ok?). How do we go about doing this you may ask? Well how about these ways: 1. We could gather up a list of all the magazines the Dolls have been in or will be in 2. Then post those magazine titles to the list for everyone to share if they are current subscribers or would like to be. 3. Then those who are subscribers and are willing to be on the look out every month would be on a compiled post with everyone^Òs chosen magazine subscription, their name, and contact information. NOTE: List members could also take on online publications as well, like TV or radio news on the Dolls^Ò too! This will help save us ALL money, time, gasoline, and it will even go a bit easier on our current Carpal Tunnel Syndrome from all the chaotic posting and emailing we seem to do at least 100 times each and every month to get that magazine and/or picture (the CTS is a joke people, I feel like I have to walk on eggshells to prevent someone from taking this the wrong way)! Well those are some ideas and suggestions to eliminate our magazine and news dilemmas. So go ahead, let^Òs have it, what do you think? I just think everyone will win in the end if for once, we work together to meet a common goal as a team. "Team Goo!" I like it, its kind of catchy yah know? ===== "If I could paint in harmony and colors were words I have sung, if I could climb my way up in the sky where the stars are carefully hung, there are flowers in her backyard that resemble the spots of the sun and there are times I look in her eyes and see the woman and God as one." Also, today I was listening to the radio and all of a sudden I hear the opening notes of "There You Are". I was like, wait a minute! So I stopped and listened...It turned out to be an ad for emusic.com. It was cool though. I was excited to hear it on the radio!! Miss me? I thought not. After that warm fuzzy, thought I'd pass along the following tv news: On the VH1 Greatest Songs of Rock and Roll that aired tonight (I believe it was #40-21?) the Goos got a mention and a clip of Iris when they aired the online poll for Best Song of the 90's. Yes, my little Internet-voting friends, we managed to win them 3rd place in that category. Here's the cool part; tomorrow morning, 1/21, is the first of what I am sure will be many re-airings of this program, at 8am PST (sorry east-coast goobers, do the math ;) as well as Friday afternoon at 6pm PST. The Goo bit comes in roughly 45 through the hour-long show, and are visible for a brief period of time.....much like the Hale-Bopp Comet.......just kidding. So, look for it from about :45 to :50 in the show. Also, that "Hard Rock Live: 1990s Hits" will air on KCTS tv (the PBS station) at midnight (12 am Sunday 1/23, technically, folks!) on Saturday, 1/22, up in the Great Northwest for all our W. Washington and B.C. Canada pals. Yahoooo! Hope that helps. I'm off to discover new species of mold that seem to occupy the nooks and crannies of my house this time of year...... I just would like to share with this wonderful list that last week I saw the Cider House Rules with my two bestest friends (i havent gotten around to posting yet!) and it was awsome!!! I, as well as one of my friends, were bawling our eyes out, and let me tell you, i never cry at movies! That was the secong movie i have ever cried in! It was so moving, and it really reminded me of John, I can definately see why it is his favorite book. There was one lyric that I kept hearing in my head while watching the movie, "we live and we die with no reason why". Wow, it was such a good movie! It is now taken second place in my book, first being, and always will be, Sabrina, the one with Harrison Ford and Julia Ormand. Well, i definately recomend to anyone who hasnt seen it, do so!!! ~amandagoo:) >From: Vickyd3871@aol.com >To: goo@mailinglists.org >Subject: Re: [GOO] The Cider House Rules, where? >Date: Sat, 15 Jan 2000 03:20:59 EST > >This got me thinking....maybe John should start his own bookclub, you know, >like Oprah. John's not gay. We all know he's married and has been seen with his girlfriend...some of us even have the picture. :-) But that isnt really the subject of this email. I need to adress the fact that calling someone gay, or bringing up the possiblity of them maybe being homosexual, it shouldn't be a "rude comment" or "bashing". Im sick of all the emails sounding so angry that someone would dare call Johnny gay. We all love him primarily for his music right?? I must admit, if he were to be gay some of my fantasies would be ruined...but i would still love him just as much. C'mon people. Its time to wake up and be a little more sensitive to peoples differences. Some people on this list could very well be bi or homosexual. I know no one meant to sound homophobic and i think its safest if we just stop the talk about his sexuality. I dont mean to be attacking anyone particular, its a fault of our society today. But there are a lot of Girls that aren't like that. I am 13yrs old, and I'm not like that. All my good friends who like the Goo Goo Dolls is because of there music, and not what John Looks like. Robby is my favorite not John I know two of my good friends who are on this list who are the exact same age as me(One on the same day as me the other 20 days after) One of them will not admit that John is hot, but does admit that he is a brilliant Guitarist and Song writer, which we all know is completely true! Those of you who intend on coming here are the directions again. Choose a username... please use your first name and last initial... it will make it very hard to keep score if we have googirl, goocrazy, gooluvr, googoodoll etc. etc. We have not been able to decide on a prize for tonights game therefore I believe at this time it will just be for fun. We will have contests for prizes later but as of right now I just cannot afford it... sorry. Also, if you can go in early just to make sure you can get access... I will be ignoring all IMs to prevent clutter and disconnection so if you have problems please determine what they are early... Game starts at 9pm Thanks and see you there Becka ~ Proud Member of "Poolboy's Poolqueen Posse" ::bows to her pool princesses and all of our companions:: PS... Don't flame me cuz I am beautiful! I am sorry that these are going out together, but moving is terrible, and I came home today to find my sinks all backed up. Another lovely Friday night, waiting for the plumber to arrive... On a happy note, we have two birthdays. Kelly Steenlandt.Eric@village.uunet.be Steph girl_dizzied_up@yahoo.com First is Kelly (nice name!), and her birthday is TODAY. This is her response to my email: Your name? Kelly >Where are you from? Belgium >How old are you turning? 17 > >and, you answer to the birthday question: > >Which lyric/line of a Goo song has the most personal meeting to you? Why? Forgive me if my English isn't that good... Well, it's hard to choose. I can find myself in lots of lyrics of Goo songs. I guess every song has one that has a personal meeting to me. *One of my all-time favorites is: "Scars are souvenirs you never lose The past is never far" I have to agree with that. I can find myself a lot in this lyric. *I also really like that particular line of 'Iris': "And I'd give up forever to touch you" I have this feeling sometimes when I'm in love with someone but that person doesn't love me back, then I'd really give up forever to touch that person... Next is tomorrow's birthday girl, Steph. This is her response: hey, I'm Steph, the only Goo fan from DELAWARE, and I'm turning 16. Clear the roads!!! the lyric that has the most meaning to me is from "On Your Side" : "You're living in a trailer, friends all think that you're a failure...but are you thinking for yourself?" to me, this just summarizes the entire essence of the Goo Goo Dolls, and why they're so important to me. for me, the music is all about stating your mind, stating your truth, no matter what the rest of the world tells you to do. maybe your own personal goal contradicts the American Dream...are YOU happy? as I grow up, I'm told that I have to be domestic and quiet to find a successful, powerful husband, and that's my whole future. I'd rather live in a trailer with all my goo goo dolls stuff than resign myself to someone else's idea of what I should become. because eventually, if you follow your heart, you win....even if it takes thirteen years. Please take a few minutes to send birthday greetings directly to Kelly and Steph, and not to the whole list. I hope you both have amazing birthdays! kelly ...spread the Goo... ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 21 Jan 2000 21:11:25 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Creelzz@aol.com Subject: anyone online?!?! I myself am not better than anyone on this list so I am not going to try to act like I am! Anyway my point... added to everyone elses... is... IS THIS LIST'S ONLY PURPOSE TO BITCH ABOUT PEOPLE POSTING? REALLY, I WANT AN ANSWER! 85% of all of the posts I get are saying "why post this" "don't post that" and I agree with everyone else who has posted, (in one way or another) "KNOCK IT OFF" I DON'T CARE! I WANT TO KNOW GOO GOO GOO GOO GOO! I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW YOUR THOUGHTS ON HOW SOMEONE WAS WRONG FOR HAVING AN OPINION! There is a big difference between someone having an opinion about the band, band member, action of any of the band members etc or you having an opinion about their opinion... do you understand that? Let me try to explain it in ENGLISH! If someone posts an opinion saying ex: "John wears to much make-up" it does not mean that your opinion being "how dare you say that" is relevant to the list! Your opinion is then not about goo its about the thoughts that the person had who pissed you off... GET IT? So basically all I am getting at is out of 136 emails in my box.... well I wont go there. I may be a smart-ass, but this is ojne of the few times I'm being serious: SHUT IT. I am so unbelievably tired of the great amount of bitching that people do on this list. Now , I can, with pleasure search for my read first posters...Chuck, Bill, Alex, Bryan, Joe, Fay, Colleene, Michael T Russell, Kelly, Tara, Elaine, Carolyn and the rest... If you are interested in trying this, I will be glad to send along instructions on how to block, If you don't hear from me, obviously...you've made the list. Now all it's doing is filling up mailboxes with hundreds of letters they don't really want to read over and over again on the SAME topic every time. And why would it matter if he is gay? I mean, sure some of think John is cute and all , but isn't it the music that's the important thing? ~spacejenn~ http://www.angelfire.com/nh/googoodolls/index.html ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2000 06:58:05 -0800 (PST) To: goolist From: MR Subject: gay sailor's dance party Message-ID: <20000122145805.14639.qmail@web2105.mail.yahoo.com> attaboy Bill! way to get things rolling on the list. most fun i've had on this thing in a while. those of us who've been on the list for a couple of years know exactly what you were talking about (i.e., the Stern show).
