Message-ID: <29.576bac.25b14570@aol.com> To whomever it may concern: Although I regularly listen to each of my goo CD's on a regular basis, today I had a bit of a delay. At 10:00 PM (my time) I decided that I had gone long enough without listening to my favorite music ... so I rose from my seat here and walked to my CD player located in my living room... I switched the function from tuner to CD and pressed play. I walked towards my seat (the one I am sitting in now) and realized that nothing was playing... (hmmmm?) Sooo... I got back up and headed towards my stereo to find that there was no CD in the CD player ... how could this be? I have a 5 disc player and there are 5 CD's that never leave their spots! Can you guess which ones? Well, anyway... I open up the CD player to find that all of my goo CD's are gone! I take a deep breath and try to keep myself from slipping into a deep state of panic to begin searching relentlessly anywhere they can possibly be only to find out I no longer own any goo goo dolls CD's... I am now completely depressed, sad, and angry! How could they disappear you might ask? Well, lets see ... my husband had some friends over last night and this morning and lets think... I bet they pawned them. And I am sure if you are still reading this you are asking "how do you know they did it?" lets just say history repeats itself! Frankly when my husband gets home from work he is dead! So my final question is... "does anyone want a playstation?" This is war and frankly I am selling anything of his that I can, in order to replace the merchandise that his friends stole. Is this wrong? NO I DON'T THINK SO! Other items that are missing include: Tonic lemonade parade Sugar Ray 14:59 Kid Rock Devil without a cause and of course every goo CD I own (even the spare unopened copies) I am now signing off. On the VH1 Crossroads album, there is a live version of "Name" that was recorded in March of 1996. Does anyone know where in the world this was recorded??? Just yesterday I dropped by a local new/used music store and bought a CD called "In Concert" (put out by Westwood One Entertainment), which is a concert which was broadcast on the radio the week of June 17, 1996. Anyway, disc one is the Goos (there are two, but I only bought the first one, since I was only interested in hearing the GGD), and they play 11 songs from the Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas, Nevada. One of these songs is "Name", of course, and I am almost positive that it is the exact same version that is on the VH1 Crossroads compilation, because in the middle of the song John stops and says, "You guys are awesome!" just like on Crossroads. I don't know... I just really don't think that John would stop in the exact same place and say the exact same thing twice. He's not the type who works the crowd with rehearsed compliments, if you know what I mean. Anyway, if anyone can tell me either where the version of "Name" on Crossroads was recorded, or whether or not the Goos performed in Las Vegas in March of '96, *PLEASE* let me know! Thanks everyone, and enjoy the weekend!!! -Elissa =) ===== "We were an alternative rock band when that meant something--when it wasn't a clever marketing euphemism for mainstream rock." **John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls** "Punk's not dead, it's just at Kmart!" ~*~Johnny Goo~*~ "We didn't think it was going to get played on the radio at all. I, for one, would read all the books and write my letter, hoping to be invited to John's house for dinner to discuss the book - er, perhaps in this case it would be an invitation to a dive bar for a couple of beers.....I would have to elbow Tara out of the way for a prime stool at the bar, but the good news is that Alex is too young to get in. We all read the Rolling Stone where John was talking about that chica who was sending letters to his house. I mean...she's obviously a little "not there" or over obsessed or something. Does anyone also remember in one interview john was talking about how the moved to new york city b/c it was uncomfortable in buffalo b/c they were so easily indentified and that he just wanted to be anon....and new york city gave that to him. I mean if he wanted it once, he's probably going to want it again. And don't you think that if he wanted us to have his e-mail, home addy and phone number he'd give it to us? We, as goo goo dolls fans should feel fortunate that our boys are so easily reachable as they are. Often after concerts the artists are no where to be found. Message-ID: <46.7c4fe8.25b21019@aol.com> OK first of all I can't leave the list! What was I thinking! Without the goo list I would have ::choke on these words:: no life! So anyhow I am back... FOR GOOD! Second of all ... when I found my CD's and movies were missing I called the police and gave them the name and address of the "friend" that was over. They went to his house to question him (which was the most they would do considering they couldn't go in and search his house). Well, to make a long story short this "friend" denied everything! BUT... His girlfriend (the angel)! was upset about what he had done and handed the police officer his backpack (the one containing all my stuff)! SO ... the police have my stuff and Monday morning I have to go to the police station to claim all of it! HOORAY! From what I've been told everything is still there but I have to make a list of everything missing in order to get it back! So I have to check and double check to make sure I find everything that is gone! So anyway! I guess going a weekend without Goo is better than a week or two! Third I would like to say thank you to everyone on the list that was so nice and offered their kindness! Not to mention the people that offered to replace the missing items! I MEAN WOW! Talk about kindness and the "power of goo" or whatever it is called! Thank you all! really! Fourth of all my husband who feels awful that his "friend" was capable of such low down dirty BS, is quite upset about the situation himself because he found several of his items missing as well. So I think he has learned a lesson as well. I almost sent him packing! But now he realizes that just because someone is nice and cool it doesn't mean they are honest and it does not mean they are a "friend." I guess I learned this lesson a long time ago! So now its his turn! And just a note: The girlfriend of the culprit is a goo fan, she called me to apologize for his wrong doing and said that if it were her CD's she would have been devastated which is why she did what she did. And not only that (Im sure someone will love this) She loves Robby! She loves the whole band but Robby is her all time favorite! I thought that was impressive. And now that this has happened she has broken up with him (which I feel bad about in a way but who needs that anyway). So anyway! I guess all I wanted to say is that good things do come out of every bad situation ... although sometimes it is hard to see it. Thanks again! Love for all of you! ::big big hugs!:: Becka ~poolboy's *former* poolgirl PS Caity, Don't worry I am not an Indian giver ... you can still have him! ::sniff sniff:: ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 15 Jan 2000 13:16:51 -0500 To: "GooList" From: "Joe Haniszewski Jr" Subject: CO Jones Message-ID: <001001bf5f84$eb3c90c0$bc6b3018@host.buf.adelphia.net> ------=_NextPart_000_000D_01BF5F5B.026688C0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Hey peoples. I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend. I had a very embarrassing Goo moment at work today...I have a Goo Goo Supreme candy bar on my computer (thanks again, Heather!), and I had a customer ask my coworker, Deb, why it was there. I returned to my desk to find Deb and the customers laughing about my Goo obsession, and Deb was showing them the pictures of the Goos with Elmo that I keep in my drawer. They were really nice about it, and even said that they own DUTG (they were in their late 40's), but I was a lovely shade of red! So, anyways, we have one birthday for tomorrow. It is: Shay Dizyupgrl5@aol.com This is Shay's response to my email: My name is Shay and I'm from Maryland and I am turning 16.The lryic that means the most to me is in Bullet Proof where he sings "Do you listen to yourself, never live for someone else" because this is advice i have used many times before. Please take a few minutes to send birthday wishes directly to Shay, and not the whole list. I am again looking for help with Birthday questions, so if you have any ideas, please send them to me at GrnEyedGoo@aol.com. I appreciate any help I can get. I do have the question for February already, but I need them for future months. I have had many people ask about my birthday, which is coming up WAY too soon, so I will just let everybody know that my sweet friend Pam (TATMOMA2) and her "secret helper" are going to take over the birthday posts for that day. It is so nice of everybody to be concerned about MY birthday... "Sam", I have decided you are right, my bad karma is all Hanne's fault! I will need you and Roam to help straighten her out! Shay, I hope you have a great birthday! Man, am I long-winded tonight, or what? Subject: Carol Anne's post Message-ID: <20000116043203.77263.qmail@hotmail.com> Hey kiddies! It's been a while since I've posted anything, but I've been reading and keeping up with what's going on. I just wanted to put my two cents in on this subject. Carol Anne (lil soapbox girl) just beat me to the punch on this one, but I really think everyone should take to heart what she said in her email. There has been a lot of petty things asked about, discussed, etc. over the past couple of weeks. Personally, I've been deleting more messages than reading them due to the subject headings. The list has totally changed since I joined way back in late Aug./ Sept. I'm not even sure if the people I was talking to are still on this list. I'm upset by it, because I really thought this was a cool way to keep in touch with goo fans like me, who loved the goos due to their incredible talent and character, and who had the utmost respect for these wonderful musicians. They've inspired me to do so much - to follow my dreams and have the courage to do so many things that otherwise I wouldn't have even dared to do. Therefore, it's because I admire and respect them so much that I don't go around trying to become their best friend. Granted, it'd be awesome to be able to have that occur, but I've got to be realistic - they've got their own lives, and although I'm sure they are happy that myself and others love their music and will support them, there's like a slim chance when hell freezes over (in real terms - like never) that I'll ever get to meet or interact with them, aside from screaming and dancing to their music at a concert, again. My one meeting and interview that I was privileged enough to do, was awesome. I will cherish that experience for life. But, I and everyone out there has got to remember that these are REAL people with REAL lives, just like you and me. It just so happens that they are lucky enough (well, maybe) to have a career where they are in the public eye and get to do something that they love and are great at. Please keep this in mind when posting whatever it is that you do. Granted, I'm just as curious as the next person, however, I know that I would not like someone whom I didn't know asking all sorts of questions about my life. It's because of this, that I don't do it to them. The only thing that I've ever done (in the one letter I gave to them when I met them that I know GOT to them) is asked them if I could HELP them out in any way. That's not prying - it's being a nice person and trying to give a little back to them, from all of the good they and their music has indirectly given to me. So - that's about it. I'm not trying to piss anyone off or point fingers by any means. Just putting out a friendly reminder. Thanks for taking the time to read this... -Frosty! ~~~"You grew up way too fast, now there's nothing to believe, and re-runs all become our history..." - John Rzeznik ~~~ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 16 Jan 2000 00:10:46 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: "??DizZy KmS??" AND there is a fine difference between invading their privacy and discussing meanings or their songs...HUGE difference. im not asking for their home address or marital status. people are aware that they are going to get a huge volume of mail on the list, and if its a problem, just unsubscribe! i know, i know, im being an anal bitch about this, but i am just tired of people talking to all the fellow goo fans about what they can and cannot talk about! but, i know that i cannot change the rules (although nowhere on the rules did i see anything about interpreting songs), so if anyone wants to discuss songs just for the hell of it, email me because i have no problem with reading a little extra mail. k? that's my submission for the day. if someone want to flame me, go ahead, i can take it. but you're wasting your time. Now after listening to it about 50 times, I want to learn how to play it. So, I'm looking for the tabs for the song; last time I checked, World of Goo didn't have it. I know the song is only four chords. . .so anyone that knows how to play it - - or has even heard it - - I'd really love it if you'd let me know. *And possibly email Alex, so he could put it up on WoG. Thanks, and have a gooey day!
