I made sure the toys didn't require batteries since they can be pretty spendy...ESP. in 3rd world countries where neccessities matter (which narrowed it down quite a bit considering we live in such a technological society) and also made sure they weren't of violent nature in anyway (for MY piece of mind, the Goos sake, and the fact that it might be sent to Bossnia...they have enough violence there as it is) Needless to say, that narrowed it down a WHOLE lot...lol...that says something about the world we live in, doesn't it =-( Luckily, a good ol' fashioned guitar playin' Barbie (fitting wouldn't you say ;-) and a Nascar Racecar, no less, did the trick! *Note* My apologies for being overly-specific...I couldn't help myself...I INDULGE in gift giving =-Þ Now on to ?s... Is Dave going to joining the band officially? I wonder this because in a recent article he mentioned he was moving to LA...does this also mean he is leaving his band, CO Jones? Also, he mentioned in Taxicab confessions that he was 'in' the band not 'touring' w/ the band...just wondering...think it would be cool if it were true. Dave's a PIMP! What about Nathan...does anyone know what HIS plans are after all this? Does anyone know if the 'quick' Canada tour is off? Russel...do you have the complation cd promo called 'Certain Damage Volume 31'...or are you aware of it? I got it off Ebay, and it has 'There You Are' on it. It's put out by CMJ publishing/music association. Anyways, I guess my Q is, are these valuable to you (promos and compilations I mean) or do you deal strickly with what the Goos put out? Is this kind of a CD rare? I ask you this, because I want to get a perspective on what is collectable. So far, I've tried to collect ANYTHING the Goos have been on...esp. these...well, because they're cheep, and I figure I'll move on to the more spendy imports when my pocketbook allows ;-) Thx! Does anyone have any suggestions on what Goo songs I should play at my wedding reception? I would like to play them all of course =-Þ ...but I think that would scare a lot of people off...lol. So far, IRIS is a definant, because it has a lot of significance in our relationship...but to be honest, Goo songs are not really danceable...so let me know what you guys think...I DEF. want to incorporate Goo somehow, since they've had such an impact on my life. Hmmn, maybe I can get them to SING at my wedding...anybody have a phone # I can reach them at? LOL Lastly, but not leastly =-Þ I give props to all the men on this list who willingly and patiently court all us women through our pre-menstral and bad hair days...(although Bill has HIS days...lol) I don't know what we'd do w/ out ya! Seriously though, I think it's wonderful that there are men out there as devoted to the Goos and thier music as women are...it gives proof that the Goos rock!!! I think any man who likes the Goo's music in it's entirety, shows what being a REAL man is all about. Nuff' said! ;-) P.S. Tsk, tsk...Alex, did you loose your retainer again? *shaking head* ...And Bill, I HOPE you remembered your diaphram this time... *shaking finger and raising eyebrow* I'd HATE to see you pregnant, and in a speedo ya' know =-Þ Forever Goo, ~Traci~ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 07 Dec 1999 04:59:16 PST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: "Traci Bedard" Subject: Also...(Ebay stuff) Message-ID: <19991207125916.2951.qmail@hotmail.com> Dave Hallett (whom I've mentioned before-to refresh your memory, he's from Buffalo and had pics of the guys from WAY back...WELL *DRUMROLL* he has some AWESOME pics from the Goo's homecoming shows in Buffalo up for sell at Ebay...go take a look-see! ;-) There's a shirt (supposedly from the DUTG tour) up for sale that has on one side 'may cause dizziness' in red/black/white and "Dizzy Up The Girl" in those Black/Silver lettering (like the sticker) on a black t-shirt accross the front? Well, here's my sort of review on the Buffalo shows and going ons.... By the way, it's a long review.. Get out your reading glasses grandmas (and Bill) -First off, a big hello to all of you that travelled out to the shows. It was cool to meet the faces behind those fuzzy pixelated 15" Dell monitors finally. First of the Die Hard Goo Award of the year goes to RobbieBoy. The guy came out to Buffalo for the Weds show from Long Island, then went home on Thursday, and then came back to Buffalo just in time for Fridays show and Saturday. Hate to hear how much airfare to and from Buffalo is, but hey, you know it was worth it. -As for the confetti explosion that caused all those vacuum marks around his neck, that was really a cover up story. That was actually scattered schrapnel from the riot police after the swarming girls raided the Hyatt, after hearing rumors of Bill walking around in his Speedo. RobbieBoy was an innocent bystander caught in the center of the commotion. I guess I'll emphasize "innocent" -And for that Alex Guy, he should change his website name to the World of Grab, since he was going around all weekend grabbing bootie. Wait to see TaxiCab confessions with Alex as he is taped leaving the Calumet in a taxi with Bill and Dave Schulz. I'll cover my eyes on that one..... -OK, enough of the joking, maybe until later.... here's more of a review.... As Mike Tracz put it, he ranked the shows in order of Fri,Weds, and Thurs.... I totally agree with him. The Friday show was the best of all 3, and also because the addition of the Incredible Lance Diamond, that made it all that much better. Lance in his Millenium suit, that was so bright, if you shut off all the lights at Sheas, you'd still be able to see him. One word, classy..... He seemed to have a lot of space to move around, belting out some new moves, and getting the ladies going.... He lived it up.... - To be honest with you all, I can't remember the names of the opening band on Weds, they were pretty good though... I totally missed the openers for the Thursday show, but I wasn't impressed with Mexican Cession's lame ass version of Iris so I planned on skipping them, but I ended up missing Velour, which I heard some good comments about them. - For the Weds show, we had our group of 7, we sat in section 5 mid way to the stage,. Not bad seats, but you could hardly see Nathan except for his Iris guitar solo. But any seat in Sheas is a good seat. The Goos played the same set list for all 3 shows, but it was nice to hear Thousand Words again. John told his array oh Jokes, the Ricky Martin joke with the faggy accent was the topper though. And the Backstreet Boys joke was the runner up. He seems to like doing stand up comedy. Maybe someone should buy up www.johnrzeznik.com for the affordable cost of $5000 from on ebay in the hopes that you could promote it when he goes solo from the Goos and hits all the Comedy Clubs across the US.... (This is just a joke people). The show was an awesome opener for the 3 shows.... The Goos sounded great and seemed pretty happy to be home. Plus a bonus, I got to be on the radio live with Michele from 103.3 the Edge. She interviewed me and called me a Freak for going to 35 Goo shows. Oh well, I'll live with that title.Plus the roadie with the leave blower for the confetti (the same stuff that marked RobbieBoy's neck) cracked us up. -No encounters with any of the Goos on Weds, but figured it was early still..... -Thursday night, 2nd show.. I got out of work a little early and went to meet Bill and Julia at the Hyatt. I was running a little bit late, but Bill was in the gift shop checking out the new Speedo's that arrived that day. When we were leaving, Mike was in the lobby talking to some people. He recognized me and said hey... Didn't bug him, figured I'd run into him a couple of times. We went for a quick drink, then to the show. Met a couple more people from the list, like I said, always cool meeting up with everyone that showed. I sat solo at the show, but had a nice isle seat in section 4. Not bad, chatted a bit with the people next to me. The lady was asking some questions about the pre-ABNG stuff, and I was obliged to answer. Ran into Robby's parents and talked to them a bit. Same set list, and the usual antics of the guys. Was a fun show. Met up with Wanda from the list (Mail me Wanda). She gave Robby's parents the actual Goo Goo Doll. This was the first time that I ever seen it. It was pretty cool. Robby's parents gave him the doll, and Robby was so excited and ran around to show the other guys. He was like a kid on Christmas from what they said. After the show some of us went to the Hyatt for some food and drinks. Mike was there with his mom. Noone seemed to bug him. Figure let the guy have a quiet evening with his family. I went to the bathroom and the door was locked. Hung out for a second and Mike came out. Talked with him for a bit about stuff, the tour, their deserved vacation, ect. Didn't tie him up that much since his family was waiting. Then later, myself and a bunch of people went to Chippewa street later that night. Went to BigShotz, but it was too busy, so I decided to get some air and seen Dave Schulz across the street at the Bradford. A couple of us went over to the Bradford to say hey. When I walked in, I seen Robby hiding in the corner at the front of the bar. It was cool, Dave and Robby were there. We went over to talk to Robby for a bit. He's a popular guy. I his in the background for a bit. Some people moved out of the way and he was like, DUDE..... Sad hi to him and chatted a bit. I asked him about the b'day presents that I delivered to him. He said he was going to open them that weekend at his parents, but was overwhelmed by the amount of gifts he recieved. I still had more gifts for him and told him I was bringing them to his parents that Saturday. Also chatted a bit with Dave. Harassed him about his Taxicab adventures. Chatted about his website, www.cojonesworld.com - Cheap plug.... It was cool, there were at most 40 people in the place. We took some pics with them, and I'm waiting for the pic of me, Robby, and 8 guys in kilts... don't ask, I don't know why..... Hung out with them for about 2 hours or so... It was cool....Callled it a night around 4am or so. -Day 3, show 3... The best of them all... a TON of list members were there.... I got mentioned on the radio, aka Freak again by Michele from 103.3. We had a bunch of us meet at the TGIF like we were the past couple nights. A pretty big group. Too bad the waitress was a bitch. We got to Sheas around 7 or so to all meet up again, but I wanted to see Lance Diamond again. I thought I had crappy seats, section 6, row BB. From when I originally got them, I thought they were the 2nd last row in the back corner. I got proved wrong. They were awesome seats. Row 2 in the balcony, where you could see everything, and the thing shakes like crazy when they played Iris and Name. A bunch of relatives and friends were in my section as I found out later that night. They put on the best of the 3 shows that night. All the list members with the black balloons, it was awesome. People were loving it. Too bad the Happy Bday didn't work. But at least seen and mentioned the card. Noticible mentions, the defective confetti blowers that left huhge clumps of confetti on the stage so Rob and John wrestled in it. Robby yelly, "hi grandma, My grandma is here!!" mid song. She was in the balcony with his parents and family. -On to the party. After the show there was an invite only party for John's bday. My girlfriend Kim and I went a little after the show. It was pretty cool and a chance to say good job, congrats, chat a little, and say happy bday to John. They had a big sign that said No Pictures and No Autographs. That sucked and was cool. It sucked cuz I wanted to have them sign the cool Buffalo shirt. It was cool cuz the guys were able to hang out and chat a bit with everyone. I got to say hey to Nathan, but he wasn't feeling that great still. Even though the guy seemed so full of energy, I was told that he was sick with a cold. He kept a low profile, which was understandable. Mike was there next. Talked to him and his mom a bit. Wonder who he gets his tallness from. His mom was a real nice lady. Next talked to Dave, about his website www.cojonesworld.com , the new cd, Saturdays show, ect.... Also to Steve, the other CO Jones croney.... Next came John. He came in, everyone sang Happy Bday and then he cut his cake. For those of you that like the little details. The cake was chocolate. For your information, I freeze dried 5 pieces and will be posting them on Ebay. he had a good size group of people that wanted to talk to him. I finally got up to him and said "Hey". First thing out of his mouth when he recognized me, "How many shows is it for you now?" I told him that it was 35, and he replied with "Damn, you just put my unborn kids through college." And then he proceeded to offer me a bus pass for all the shows since I paid enough to support their entire leg of the Dizzy tour. We also talked about his GTO. Back in September at Jones Beach, I gave him an 8x10 of a 66 GTO that he loved. Well, he got his 67 GTO and should have it by this summer. For those of you that aren't car freaks like us, a GTO is the Pontiac version of the high horsepower muscle car from the 60's. I didn't go searching for any in particular, but if you are interested in seeing what they look like, you could go to my photography web site www.photo-action.com and then pictures. Then select the POCI and the Norwalk shows. There are a couple of GTO's mixed in with them. My girlfriend and a couple of other girls that were with us were laughing at our conversation, but John and I replied with, "It's testosterone, ya know". Then went to talk to Robby again. He was floating around with his family and friends. Just continuation of the discussions we had from the other nights. Later that night we met up with the group at the Elmwood Lounge. Lance was finishing his dynamic set. We hung out with the group for a bit and I seen Robby floating around. He stopped outside to give the horses in front a sucker. Then he came in and chatted with everyone. Was cool to see him again in public. He signed some autographs and took some pics. Night 2 of staying out past 4. Saturday, Kim and I slept in til 3pm. We were beat. Later that day we stopped at Robby's parents to drop off the remainder of his presents. Hung out for a while, then off to the Calumet for CO Jones. There were about 20+ list members. The diehards that stayed the extra day (if they could). Talked a bit with Dave and Steve from CO Jones. They played a bunch of songs, new and old from their new cd. www.cojonesworld.com :) They had 3 members from Rick James' band too. It sounded awesome! And later that night, another appearance from Robby himself. He found a nice corner in the bar to watch the show and keep a low profile. Talked with him again. My girlfriend ran into him when he was walking around. She gave him the message from his parents. His mom wanted to give him a kiss on the cheek, so Robby moved the hair from his cheek so she could do so and kissed him on the cheek. Then his dad wanted to kick him in the ass, and Kim said she wouldn't do that. I was going to though :) We hung out at the Calumet til around 4 with Alex, Bill, and the gang. That's when the 3 of us did our now-infamous Buck Nekkid Three Amigos salute. Oh the ladies were loving it. I got 3 rolls of pics from this show that will be up soon. I'll post when it is. -Thats my review in a nutshell. A really big nutshell. It was an awesome weekend. The Goos are going to be doing their military leg of the tour and then take a little vacation. Time to start the new album. Then tour for another 6 years in support of it. -Oh yea, the minor details that too many people give a care about. I'm posting these in special reguest for Tara, because deep down inside she is still a giggling little 13 year old. (Had to throw a dig at her, you could only harass Bill so much): -John's nails were painted black -John had no cologne on, according to my girlfriend -John was wearing a a sweatshirt at the after party and was all smiles for his bday. Plus the candy from Erica had a bomb in it. -Robby alwys wears sunglasses -Robby will eat a bag of dum dums in a single serving -Dave avoids Taxicabs -Mike is a tall guy -Nathan has a lot of tattoos and likes the number 12 -Dave once hurt his leg playing a massive keyboard riff Some of these facts are useful, you decide which ones..... To some up this mail: -I enjoy typing a 2 hour review of shows. -Ebay is a friend of all of us. -Bill is still the king of the now-infamous Buck Nekkid Three Amigos salute. -My fingers hurt. -Harassing Bill is fun. -People could truly be generous. The toy drive for the shows were truly AMAZING!!! -There are truly some awesomely cool people on this list, and without them, it would be lifeless. So cherish the rules of the list, send Bryan a Christmad card with a thank you note, because without it, a lot of us would not be in the know, have less Goo friends, and not have the one major connection to the band we all know and love. -If you read this letter, you are a die hard!!!!! Message-ID: <0.38eeb18a.257ea133@aol.com> Hey goobers. I was lucky enough to go to Buffalo and thought i'd share a few things 1. I sent my reviews/encounters to Fay. she will post them soon 2. To those who blew up the black balloons during "Black Balloon"-Thank You. I noticed about 15 of the 45 I gave out. I appreciate it. 3. Just for the record because I haven't read it yet- on the 3rd some lucky girl actually managed to outrun the security and get on stage. She made a beeline for Johnny and gave him a hug. Personally, I think-judging by his reaction-she scared the living shit out of him. 4. This is more like a request! On the 3rd I made a poster that said Happy Birthday Johnny Love, Goo@mailinglist.org. On the back it said- Our Names....All 120 of us. In between this was all the names of the fans at the show who signed it and those who e-mailed me(thank you!). Well, I gave to Lena and Heidi to hold up because they were in the 3rd row. Anyway, after greed they held it up. Johnny saw it-both sides-because he pointed to it after they showed it to him.Lena had a security guard assure her that Johnny would get it. Since some of you can contact the Goos and/or their parents, could you please find out if Johnny actually got the sign. Some of the list people are wondering. I would also like to know if all my hard work went to waste(It took about 5 hours for me to complete the sign and get all the names). Thanks! 5. I would like to thank Joe for including me in his ever lengthy e-mail(it was great though-I even printed it for my scrapbook-seriously!). Once again thank you for being my "delivery boy". At least I know the stuff got to the guys. 6. thank you to all the Goos I met in Buffalo. you made the trip extra special for me. I would do it all over again. I enjoyed the reviews, and I thank you for not posting TOO many reviews, since a bunch of you went to the Buffalo shows. Joe, you're too weird - I like that! I figured out I joined the right group: Russell, Tara, Joe, RobbieBoy, Bill (which color Speedo did you pick?), etc.... my kind of people! Let's not forget the others I talk to you, and met in person! You guys rock! It's nice to have friends with a good sense of humor when holidays come around. By Thursday next week my brain will either be jello (finals) or rested up to party. Good luck fellow GOObers who have (or had) finals the next couple of days! I'm still trying to fix that, but they don't return my emails and I don't want to call them as I live overseas. Anyway, if you got what you paid for could you please email me and let me know how long it took and stuff. Thanks a bunch. Love, Andrea __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Thousands of Stores. Millions of Products. All in one place. Yahoo! Hope you're all doing great! :) I just found out today that a local Bay Area radio station, KFOG, has released a CD "Live From the Archvies 6" with a live version of "Slide" (I'm not exactly sure where the track came from--probably an in studio thing?) on it. It came out today and I think it's only available in the Bay Area, and exclusive at Wherehouse music stores (so it may actually be available in Wherehouse stores outside the Bay--don't know). Right when I got home from school, I called about 10 local Wherehouse stores to see if they had the CD. Wow, they were all sold out of it! I finally called one store that was about a half hour away from me, and they said they had a few copies left. They said they couldn't hold it for me because they were selling out quick, so I zoomed over there (as fast as I could in rush hour traffic), and by the time I got there they were sold out of the CD, too! :( But the good news is that most of the stores say that they should get a new shipment of the CDs on Friday. Other than the Goos, the CD contains live tracks from Lyle Lovett, Jonny Lang, Sheryl Crow, Train (Lorna! :)), Pretenders, Shawn Mullins, Elvis Costello, Bruce Hornsby, Patty Larkin, Robben Ford, Joe Henry, Wes Cunningham, Patty Griffin and Ben Harper. Pretty cool lineup. If you're interested in the CD, I think KFOG/Wherehouse Music is selling limited copies of it online (go to http://www.kfog.com and click on the CD link)--the radio station said something about only being able to order it until 7:30 (California time) tonight (but they could just mean 7:30 each night?) OR I can try to get you a copy of the CD if indeed new shipments of it come in on Friday (except that I'm totally broke right now and may not be able to get the CD for you unless you send me the money first [sorry!]---but go ahead and e-mail me still if you're interested--I'll try my very best :)). Oh and for Bay Area people, I think they're playing tracks off the CD on the radio, so if you wanna see what this "Slide" live track is all about tune in to the station (KFOG--104.5 or 97.7) and they might play it. That's all for me now. Take care and goodnight! :) -Jennnnnnnnnnnnnnn ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 7 Dec 1999 20:22:29 -0800 (PST) To: Flyyspyy@aol.com, goo@mailinglists.org From: "VåmÞ¥®ê" Subject: Re: [GOO] live Goo track on KFOG's "Live From the Archives 6" Message-ID: <19991208042229.7215.qmail@web116.yahoomail.com> I have the entire show on cd from KFOG. Subject: SF Bay Area Goo Question Message-ID: <19991208052705.22472.qmail@hotmail.com> Hey all! Not too long ago I mentioned something about Carson Daly being on a local radio station 98.5 KOME and I asked if anyone remembered it. Well my good buddy Jen (Flyyspyy@aol.com) said she did and asked if I rememered a concert the radio station had the summer of '96. I remember the concert (KAMP KOME), but don't remember most of the groups that performed. I know they were a lot of bands (Dishwalla, No Doubt, Filter, etc...), but we got into discussing whether the Goo Goo Dolls performed or not. So my question is for anyone who also went to that concert if you remember if the Goo was there or not. I remember a lot of things going on in my life at that time (I just started dating my current boyfriend), and I can't recall who played. I feel like an idiot for not remembering. Why would I forget seeing the Goo?!?! So let me know if you remember them being there or not, I think I've lost my mind.... 8-} Dani ~my mind is just becoming jello....~ ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Dec 1999 00:49:45 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Eva753@aol.com Subject: artist of the year at VH1 Message-ID: <0.b246461b.257f4b79@aol.com> hey everyone, if you haven't voted for the Goos yet on VH1 go vote NOW! you can only vote once so it is very important that everyone votes. here's a link - VH1.com Events .if that doesn't work go to www.vh1.com. also once you vote you are entered to win a contest to see four VH1 artists of the month concerts and $5000. so go vote! ~Eva, Erika, & Kerri "I'm not perfect, I dont give a f*ck. I wouldn't have minded if all this stuff was actually pertaining to the Goos, but a majority of it wasn't. I think this new band thing is funny, but it is an inside joke, and I'm sorry to say I wasn't in Buffalo. Additionally annoying was the amount of 1 sentence mails stating how this whole thing is SO hysterical. Please please please have a little self-control as to how many mails you send, for my sake and the sake of those who have other stuff to do than read their mail 24/7. Flame away...I don't really care. *This is Bobert, signing off* **STAY GOOEY!!** Erin ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 8 Dec 1999 12:47:44 -0500 To: goo@mailinglists.org From: dizzygrl@icx.net Subject: Extra RS Message-Id: <199912081749.MAA31409@icx.net> Hey, I have an extra Rolling Stone with the Goos in it thanks to some freaky thing with my subscription whereby I ended up getting three different RS mags this week alone. Anyway, if anyone wants to trade for it or anything, let me know.
