The once-in-a-lifetime auction of limited-edition boxes of Millenios - the "Official Cereal of the Millennium" - is coming to a close with some of the best boxes that we saved for last. Autographed boxes of Millenios signed by some of the hottest stars will go on auction Sunday, November 28 at http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/millenios/. The final boxes include Janet Jackson; Kevin Spacey; Courtney Cox; Lisa Kudrow; Cuba Gooding, Jr.; Mel Brooks; Bonnie Raitt; Hanson; Rachel Leigh Cook; Steve Young; Billy Joel; Kathy Bates; John Goodman; Reggie Jackson; Susan Sarandon - and a special box signed by Donny and Marie Osmond. Dick Clark, spokesperson for Millenios, will appear on "The Donny and Marie Show" on Monday, November 29. The first 20 boxes, which included Katie Courac, Oprah Winfrey and the Goo Goo Dolls, were introduced on eBay following the Millenios countdown event in Times Square on September 8, 1999. Since then, Cheerios, maker of Millenios, has posted over 160 celebrity-signed boxes. All of the proceeds from this special auction, including an initial $25,000 donation from General Mills, will benefit local chapters of Big Brothers and Big Sisters (BBBS). BBBS is an organization that provides one-to-one mentoring relationships between adult volunteers and children at risk. BBBS currently serves more than 100,000 children and youth in 500 agencies across the United States. Millenios is a limited-edition cereal from General Mills created to celebrate the new millennium. Consumers looking to purchase their own (unsigned) box of Millenios will find it at grocery stores now. General Mills expects this once-in-a-lifetime cereal to be sold out by January 2000. General Mills ranks among the largest consumer foods companies in the United States, with such category leaders as Big G(R) Cereals; Betty Crocker(R) Dinners, Desserts and Side Dish products; Yoplait(R) Yogurts and Chex(R) Snack Mix. General Mills worldwide revenues, including share of sales from international joint ventures, total $6.8 billion, with employees in plants and offices throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, Europe and Asia. TIMES SQUARE FESTIVITIES Times square 2000 the Global Celebration at the Crossroads of the World, will be the largest New Year's Eve Celebration ever held in Times Square's 95 year history. Times Square 2000 will be a multi-media celebration beginning Friday, December 31st at 6:30am(EST) and continuing for more than 24 hours. The live program will incorporate music, special effects, video broadcasts from around the globe, and hundreds of costumed dancers and actors performing over a half-square mile of Time Square.Beggining 7:00am with the arrival of the year 2000 in the South Pacific revelers at Times Square 2000 will celebrate the people and cultures from around the world as the New Year arrives in each of the world's time zones. The festivities will continue until 7am January 1st, when the last time zone, Western Samoa, enters the New Year. In size and scope, Time Square 2000 will be many times l! arger and more spectacular than any previous Times Square celebration and unlike any event ever staged in an urban setting. With a running crew of more than 1,000 in the event will combine elements of theater, street carnival, pageants, sound and light shows, and dance. From its theme to its audience size, more than one million people in Time Square and a television audience exceeding one billion, Time Square 2000 promises an epic experience. The stage management of the event will be momentous, with timing cues taken off a signal transmitted by the atomic clock in Colorado. The hourly celebrations will vary in complexity and media. For example,at 3PM EST as the New Year arrives in the Indian subcontinent one of the largest processional puppets of the event, a 22 foot long elephant, will lumber through the Square to musical accompaniment. As the clock strikes 6pm EST on December 31st and 41 European and African countries enter the New Year, dozens of puppeteers will appear and ! hoist up banners measuring 760 feet in length and made up of silhouette cutouts created by students of the New York City Public Schools to represent the children of the 41 different countries. As the dramatic sounds of a children's choir fills Times Square, streamers will rain down on the crowd. At 10pm EST, as the midnight reaches South America, a soundtrack of thundering tribal percussions will fill Times square. A fantasy world will be conjured using fanciful procession of puppets, including exotic snakes, ants, and butterflies of the tropics. The production will also feature over 400 dancers, actors, musicians and puppeteers-native New Yorkers and troupes from around the world-performing in 24 separate midnight celebrations throughout the Square and on a specially built stage with effects provided by Con Edison.Five giant Panasonic Astrovision screens broadcasting live images from the New Year's Eve celebrations in hundred's of cities on all seven continents as they enter ! the year 2000.Contact Jimmy James at 212-768-1441. Message-ID: <19991124225635.24155.qmail@hotmail.com> hi everyone, i just wanted to let you all know that i am probably going to be selling my 2 tickets to the December 2nd show. the reason i say "probably" is because i am not sure if i can go or not, but i am 90% certain i can NOT go. i will know for sure by this friday and will mail the tickets then to anyone who wants to buy them from me. i'll send it like express or something so you can get them on time. they are in balcony 3, row Q, seats 18 and 20. i'm not sure what exactly "balcony 3" means, but i think it means they are not very good seats, but hey at least they are seats and they are pretty close together for a sold out concert. so i am willing to sell them either together or seperately. all i want for them is $35 (or $70 for both) which is what i paid for them. i'm not trying to profit from this so i don't want to say that the person willing to pay the most gets them, but i'm not sure how exactly else to do it. i know some people won't check their email for awhile so i don't want to say that the first person who responds will get them. anyway, i will be very depressed if i can't go, so if i know that a true goo fan can at least go in my place, i might feel a little better. please write back if you're interested. sorry this is so long. i didn't mean for it to be. One more thing (but along the same lines)- if anyone on the list is from Montreal and wants to go, it seems as if I have an extra ticket (assuming none of my friends change their minds, which I don't think they will) for the show on Dec 2nd, as well as space in my car. On December 20th, MTV's "Fly 2K," the network's custom-made, millennium party plane, will take off from New York City with 10 lucky winners plus 10 guests from across the U.S., and set off for a truly global adventure. Included on their itinerary are such famous locales as Rome, Paris and London. At one of the stops along the way, they will pick up additional international winners from MTV channels around the world to join them. "Fly 2K" will feature in-flight entertainment by the Goo Goo Dolls, 98 Degrees and MTV's very own DJ Skribble. The Goo Goo Dolls will join the crew just in time to catch the sites in London before heading back to New York. The final stop on the global tour will be MTV's Time Square Studios where the lucky winners will celebrate the turn of the Millennium from a very special front-row seat overlooking New York's Times Square. "MTV 2 Large," the network's exclusive New Year's Eve Millennium Bash, will feature performances by Puff Daddy, Bush, Blink 182, Christina Aguilera, Jay-Z, as well as "Fly 2K" entertainers, Goo Goo Dolls and 98 Degrees. Additional performers will be announced shortly. "MTV 2 Large" will air on MTV Friday, December 31 from 7pm-1am (Live ET/Tape delayed PT). This will be a one-time only opportunity to enter. MTV international channels around the world will also run their own local contests. "Fly 2K," a 250 passenger DC10 chartered through Canadian Airlines of Vancouver, is generously sponsored by Pepsi, America Online, Wherehouse Records and Bristol Meyers. But anyways, please lets try and get stuff out on Friday because I don't want to have to send back stuff that doesn't get to me in time. Remember if you are sending a gift that weighs something please try and send a $1 or so for shipping because this thing isn't going to be cheap to mail off. If its a card or letter don't worry about the money. When everything comes in I'll take a picture of the box before I send it off so you guys can see how I decorated it and stuff. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Have a GOOd night ^-^ TO BILL REISER: could you please e-mail me about the address to the hotel, so I can send the box out on the 30th. (i wanted to win!!!) they said a dollar so i started filling out a ticket... when i was done i picked a slip of paper that told me i got another free entry..so i was filling it out and my sis asked the older man there "how did you get them to donate it?" the guy said "i'm really good friends with john..." the woman there said, "actually, his daughter is better friends with them.." he said, "yeah, he's my son-in-law." me and my sis were thinking wow.. she said "so you're laurie's dad?" he was like "how did you know her name?" she said "we're fans, we know these things." then we just chatted and left...it didn't really hit me until i was up the escalator... hahah nothing amazing...but hey since i've never met the guys it was kinda cool! *^*amanda*^* p.s. cross your fingers that i win the guitar! ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Nov 1999 20:43:29 -0800 (PST) To: goo@mailinglists.org From: DiZZY Steph Subject: mike joke/Dec 2 Message-ID: <19991125044329.22210.qmail@web1607.mail.yahoo.com> found this joke at the world of goo. read the whole interview at: http://www.musicfanclubs.org/googoodolls/misc/RecoveryQA.htm anyway, here's the joke: Mike: The funniest joke every told is : What do a bunch of grapes and an elephant have in common? Remember, email me at joejr@pce.net to add yourself to the list or change any of the info jOegOo As for get togethers. I figured that dinner out near Sheas might be a good thing to plan. There is a TGIF and Buffalo House and a couple of other restaurants. Quick food, Jim's Steak Out, AWESOME snacks (subs, pizza, ect) right around the corner on Chippewa. The main date for planning a get together seems like Dec 3rd since there are so many people. I am trying to find a place that could hold a decent amount of people. I am also going to get a hold of Lance Diamond to see if he is doing happy hour that night so maybe we could go where he is. If not, then I'll check into a restaurant that has room for 30+ people. For those of you 21 and up (or with fake id's) Weds night is busy on Chippewa Street, around the corner from Sheas. Tons of bars and stuff to do after the show. Friday is the big night down there (and Saturday too). ZooBar, Ka'os, Calumet, ect are cool clubs. Also on Friday night Lance Diamond is playing his regularly scheduled show at the Elmwood Lounge about 5 minutes away from Sheas. Would be cool if everyone goes to see him on Friday night and see's CO Jones on Saturday nigth at the Calumet. From the emails that I am getting, this sounds like the kind of plans people want to do. Here are some things going on. I didn't get o do a lot of research, but here are some ideas: the Festival if Lights in Niagara Falls,NY and Canada - http://www.a-festival-of-lights.org/ bring your ice skates too... very scenic, plus see one of the wonders of the world. I would honestly recommend the Canadian side I think the Buffalo Sabres have a game on the 4th www.sabres.com or www.marinemidlandarena.com Then there is the malls, check out the Galleria Mall in Cheektowaga or th Boulevard Mall in Amherst, or the Factory Outlet Mall in Niagara Falls. Those are the big three malls. Being 2:15am, I'm not all that productive right now. I'm sure I'll be posting again before the show, but this is a guideline for some people's plans.... Any suggestions, changes, modifications, ect, mail me at joejr@pce.net I'm going to bed, got to save up the energy to eat some turkey and then fall asleep watching football... jOegOo joejr@pce.net GooGooDollsOnline www.pce.net/joejr And here is the same info that I posted before for the shows........ (this is pretty much the same info as before, other than the fact that the Sabres may be playing the Rangers on the 4th, just no Dominic Hasek aka World's Greatest Goalie, groin tear - OUCH!!!!) I know there is more people than this going to the shows, email me at joejr@pce.net in the same format as above and make sure you mention the days. As for whats going on, a lot of things in Buffalo and Niagara Falls. The Festival of Lights is going on in Niagara Falls on the US and Canadian side. They have the whole area lit up and the Falls look real cool. The Canadian side is better I think. There are 3 major malls in the area Walden Galleria, Boulevard Mall, and the Niagara Factory Outlet Mall. For those of you shopping, they are all within 20/30 minutes of the venue. I'm not sure, but there is probably a Buffalo Sabres game. Check out the almost Stanley Cup winners from the 98/99 season (damn Dallas Stars - www.nogoal.com). They play in the Marine Midland Arena www.marinemidlandarena.com . Then to the nitty gritty. On Friday night around 6pm, Lance Diamond plays at the Zoo Bar on Chippewa street (right down the street from Sheas). I think he still does this. And then he also does his live shows every Friday and Saturday night at the Elmwood Lounge. He already is making plans for a great show for everyone that is coming in to town. Mail me also to get on the list of people that are going to his show. CO Jones (Dave's band, with Steve Demarchi) www.cojonesworld.com also has a gig on Saturday night the 4th. They are playing at the Calumet on Chippewa around 11pm, but the way they are, it will start a bit later and last til around 4am, when the club kicks everyone out or they run out of alcohol. (The only time that club ran out of alcohol is when CO Jones played in the summer). We are planning on getting a bunch of people together for that too. Mail me if you are interested. Thats about all for now. Mail me if you want to add your name to the list of people going to one of the 3 shows or the Lance Diamond or CO Jones show. -Please Do not mail me to ask for backstage passes or hints on meeting the band Thats all from me for now. Now I'm gettinog prepared to get a ton of mail :) jOegOo joejr@pce.net GooGooDollsOnline www.pce.net/joejr ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 24 Nov 1999 23:27:25 -0800 (PST) To: goo@mailinglists.org From: June Subject: is there anyone up out there? I just got this and thought I'd pass this along. Looks like they remastered Superstar for an import. I also heard another promo on a radio station here by Johnny. this wasn't the standard, "Hi this is Johnny from the Goo Goo dolls." He said that but he also said the DJ"s name and the station. I was about to change the station too because I'm a radio flipper in the car and just when I was going to, they did this promo and played Slide. I also heard Black Balloon like 3 times yesterday, two of them were back to back on different stations. GOttta love when that happens! -- "I believe the sun should never set upon an argument. I can sell or trade, it doesn't matter. It has things like them performing on talk shows, interviews, etc. - nothing really hard to find or anything, though, I don't think. There's quite a bit on it, and it's in pretty good condition. If you're interested please email me about it with the subject line I have in this email, except without "thanksgiving" and (GOO) or (TTB) in front of it (I might delete if by accident). Also, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!! And does anyone know what the Goos are doing for thanksgiving - do they get to go home, or are they on tour? Anyone know? Just wondering...thanks, laura goo_luvr@hotmail.com ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 25 Nov 1999 16:04:23 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: "Cathy Ravago" Subject: *cd catalog*, etc... Message-ID: <383DFFED.EEC01E0C@Hotmail.com> Hiya everyone, While chatting with a fellow Goo fan about the different versions of the CDs that have been released, I noticed something that (at least in my mind) was a little odd. . . There have been three unique pressings of the first release (Mercenary/Celluloid MERCD 2102. . .Metal Blade/Caroline CAROL-CD 2211. . . and Metal Blade 14079) Two unique pressings of Jed (Enigma/Death 73406. . . and Metal Blade 14035) Three unique pressings of Hold Me Up (Warner Brothers/Metal Blade 26259. . .Priority/Metal Blade 53917. . .and Metal Blade 17018) PLUS the French pressing (Fun After All CDAFTER8), which has the longer version of "Two Days In February." Two unique pressings of A Boy Named Goo (the Warner Brothers advanced CD with "Stand Alone" {on this version, "Ain't That Unusual" is titled "Someday" and "Somethin' Bad" is called "Something Bad"}. . .and the Warner Brothers/Metal Blade commercial release, with the track listing we've all grown to know and love). You could even go so far as say three unique pressings, if you count the changes in artwork in the booklet and on the CD that were done soon after initial release. And, of course Dizzy Up The Girl, which seems to have countless unique pressings, with each country seeming to have a different combination of bonus tracks not included on the US release (the acoustic version of "Iris" on the Japanese, and many other european, asian and australian releases have "Name" and/or "Slave Girl" as bonus tracks.) That, finally, just leaves Superstar Car Wash, which, as far as I've ever been able to determine, has only been released once (Warner Brothers/Metal Blade 45206). . .never been out of print, so no reissues. . .no oddball promo releases. . .no imports with different tracks. . .nothing. . . My question, then, is. . .can anyone prove me wrong? Are there any other unique versions of Superstar Car Wash out there? Or, other versions of any of the other releases that I don't know about??? Now that I've confused you all. . have a great night. . .LOL Russell -- "Be careful what you pretend to be, because in the end, you are what you pretend to be."
