If we don't like what someone says, we have the option of deleting the email. {click} and its gone. I think we need to be more careful of our use of colorful metaphores, per say, but there is no reason to just up and leave. You might be robbing yourself of the opportunity to get some interesting information. Like I said in a previous message, we've got more pressing issues to get upset over, than whats in here. If you don't like what I or anyone else has to say, hit that delete button, we'll never know the difference between you reading our messages or not. Too funny -----Original Message----- From: Robbie Blatt To: fabfay@boyleworks.com ; goo@mailinglists.org Date: Friday, November 19, 1999 4:31 PM Subject: [GOO] san diego review 11/18/99 San Diego, RIMAC Arena- First off I have to say this show rocked! My sister, her friend and I got there around 5:00pm. We parked by some tour buses, then some guy on a motor scooter drove by me. I don't know, but I might have been one of the goo's. Then we went up to the village and stood in line for awhile. When that got boring my sister's friend and me went back to where the tour buses were. I was looking for Elmo in the front of one of them, when some security guard said that these weren't the goo's buses. He said that the bus was down in back of the RIMAC. So we walked over to the bus and stood outside it waiting for someone to come out. But I don't know if it was the goo's bus. Then we went back in line and then went into the RIMAC. We sat down for all the other bands like: Lucky 7, Fono and Tonic. After Tonic was done my sister and I went down to the floor to get a good view. But it was kind of hard to do. Then the goo's came out with Dizzy! I don't really remember the set list but I know they played: Lazy Eye, Flat Top, Name, just the way you are, Naked, Iris, January Friend, Burnin Up, Iris and 2 days. I was jumping up and down and going crazy, singing along to all the songs. But some people around me were getting annoyed, like these blond triplets, but I didn't care. A girl through a white sparkly wig on stage and Johnny was wearing it, trying to imitate a heavy metal rock star. Robby was so cool and funny. It was cool after Iris causes some people started to leave so I got closer to the stage. John described "2 days" as: this song is about a girl who I really liked and she wanted to be a bitch, but she okay and I'm okay. He said something like that. It was cool when the confetti came out. Some stage crew guy was blowing the confetti off the stage and started to blow it in johns face. It looked like john was going down a roller coaster. After the show we went by the buses again and then left. This being my second goo show, was really cool. -Amy ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 Nov 1999 20:27:23 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: GaGa4GooGoos@aol.com Subject: Re: [GOO] "survey" info Message-ID: <0.15f4b12e.256752fb@aol.com> > NAME: Leigh Anne > SEX: Female > LIVING ARRANGEMENT: Married (with 1-cat-Slyvester 1-dog-Honey (yellow lab) 1-sister-Lauren) > WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT OUIJA BOARDS? My roomie said that Robby and Johnny both stopped singing and looked really concerned..Johnny even ran over and gave the woman who was beside me who got pulled out (she got hurt when when securty grabbed the guy) his pick. I snuck camera in both nights (YAY! for big chests and cleavage!) anyway, John comes over and give me his, "your not suppose to have that look"..then threw open his arms and grinned down at me, posing. I figure it was my, sorry you got hurt present. Well, the EMT's saw me afterwards (only because the security guy had got me Robby's setlist and wouldn't let me have it til I let them look at me) have more than likely a bruside kidney...will be in pain for about 2 months! But, NIGHT 2, made it all worth it. Ok, first I spot the lead guitarist from Tonic..my roomie thinks he is cute..so I go get her ..someone saves our place in line..then as we are talking to him..hey, Goos are sound checking..wonder over. Out pops Johnny, hair is face..baggy grey tshirt..looking like he just woke up. Got pictures..got my Iris sheet music signed..talked..was on cloud nine. I am wearing a lowcut tanktop..so I have my roomie write in black marker across my cleavage GUITAR PICKS PLEASE!! Start to go back to line..when who jogs up..MIKE...Got pictures..got Iris sheet music signed..Got Mike staring at my chest grinning at what was written. Robby was inside eating..only one I missed. So, show starts, Johnny give me a nod and a grin..YEs he remembers me. ((happy dance)) Then if anyone remembers him getting tagged in the leg with a tshirt at the beginning and him going HEY, NICE SHOT! That was me!! He read it to himself..this is what it said THANK YOU FOR ALL THE GREAT MUSIC! FROM GOO GOO DOLLS TO DIZZY UP THE GIRL! WE LOVE YOU GUYS, JOANNA AND MISTY..WE HAVE BEEN WITH YOU SINCE 1989, HERES TO ANOTHER 10 YEARS!! That is why he got that sincere look on his face and said THANK YOU!! So, then, I flash what is written on my cleavage at Robby, who reads it, eyes bulge, he leers and throws me his pick! Then my roomie and I wrote notes on notebooks paper..the first one she held up was ROBBY SMILE..he did..then did one of his little dances...ok..then we held up Johhny Rzeznik is a Puss tease. (Misty came up with the quote ::grins)He spotted mine. YES IT WAS ME!!!He smiled then strutted off..then, 3 songs later..he comes over and goes LET ME SEE. So I showed him what my cleavage said..he laughes and goes NOT THOSE..THE THING..YEAH KNOW, THE NOTE. So I give him the note and he goes: SEE, THIS IS THE NOTES PEOPLE WRITE ME, NOT HEY JOHN,NICE HAIR..NO,I GET(reads the note) JOHNNY RZEZNIK IS A PUSS TEASE! WHAT DO YOU THINK? IS THIS TRUE? (crowd goes nuts!) Then he doesn't throw it down..or wad it up..he walks over and hands it to his ROADIE (whick means he kept it..::big stupid grin on my face::) then he walks back over, looks at me grins and goes, AT LEAST YOU DIDN'T CALL ME A COCK TEASE..I HAVE HAD ONE OF THOSE WEEKS! You know I was smiling ear to ear!!!.. Then, to prove the sign was true! He comes over and gets on his knees right in front of me and my roomie and starts to play! He is lucky I was hurt the night before or they would have had to pry me off of him!! There were so many very cool moments! Makes all the pain worth it! So, the total for the Dizzy and MP3 tour is 3 set lists One from the Greek in July (Johnny's complete with is foot print and a big dirty Robby toe print) and One from each of the nights above (both Robbies) and 2 guitar picks..one from Robby and one from Johnny! Well, this has dragged on..sorry for the long post but, heh, I never write! Love to you all. Oh, BTW, any one who was there and saw them get on the bus, the Blond with Johnny was his cousin. Hey now !!! let us not get carried away recession is an ugly ugly word for someone who works for the stock market especially for those of us who work in the area of IPO's recessions are particularly evil. ;( It's almost Christmas can you wish for the recession after Christmas, it'd be a real bummer to have to go begging in the streets while those salvation army santa's are out there. They've got such a better gimmic than my pathetic please give me money I'm hungry routine. lol !!! Bill, you say the word recession and I get visions of me standing on street corners begging for quarters so I can eat at McDonalds... LOL !!! MY IDEA FOR DISPOSABLE INCOME Hmmmm.... disposable income can be given to charity as well.... and as well all know the Goo's are very charitable, why not give to their favorite charity rather than trying to own a piece of them ? We all have pieces of them anyway. Listen to their lyrics their music each song comes directly from their hearts. Every album you buy or every concert you attend you get a little piece of them. So why not in this season of thanks and giving why not donate some money to a charity in the name of the Goo Goo Dolls. If you specify that the money is a Christmas gift they will get a nifty thank you note from the charity. I'm not sure what address you could give the charity for them to send the note to except maybe for address that I see on Fay's site. And if you do do this pick a charity that means something to you that way you will be giving the Goo's a piece of you instead of it being the other way around. Just an Idea..... carol anne ------Original Message------ From: Bill Reiser To: goo@mailinglists.org Sent: November 19, 1999 9:57:13 PM GMT Subject: Re: [GOO] Buy Goo online!!! > 2)Guitar picks!! If there's enough disposable income out there to create a market that supports the sale of two-cent pieces of plastic for $15, maybe it's time for a recession. Look back and think of everything that has been going on with this list in the past week or so. I don't know anyone on it, and seems like I never will get to. People are leaving left and right, ppl are fighting back and forth, what are newcomers like me supposed to think about all of you? I aggree that in the debate of goo related messages on this list, that some ppl need to stop wasting our space with junk, but I can see both sides of the arguement. I wanted to be part of something great & cool, lots of goo fans sharing their info, stories, opinions, and thoughts, etc. Well, mostly everyone fights or sends stuff that is useless, "a little about me" (which, yes I guess it does help us get to know one another). Yes, there is a lot of good info passed along here, but it seems this list is falling apart, and I don't want that to happen, I just got here, and that may sound selfish, but I'm seeing for everyone else who wants this list to keep on living. I'm sorry this is so long, but I could go on, but I won't. I want this to be it's best, why do you think I signed up? I want everyone to get along I want ppl to care I want to get to know you I want you to get to know me We should be a family I want to get to know other HUGE ggd fans, like myself I want this ppl on this list to realize what's happening, and stop it I don't know when this list started, or what all the ppl have gone through, or all the changes that have taken place, but I know I don't want it to die Thanks for reading this big long thing, if you made it this far, THANK YOU!!!!!!!! a HUGE, not to mention TRUE Goo fan, allison >From: Russell >To: Goo Goo Dolls >Subject: [GOO] Congradulations, everyone >Date: Sat, 20 Nov 1999 10:07:20 -0800 > >Hiya, > >I have to ask, what the hell is going on here? When someone refers to vinyl, or to an LP, they are referring to a (usually) music record. Ya know, the old skool flat black plastic thingys that your great great grandparents used to play their Frank Sinatra discs (ok, so I'm being a little dramatic!). Vinyl in general refers to all the forms of record (7 inch, 12" inch, EP, LP, etc etc), where as LP tends to just mean a full length album on record. The abbreviation is the same as on your VCR. . .Long Play. . .as opposed to EP (again, same as on your VCR) . . . Extended Play. Every once in a while when vinyl singles pop up as conversation on this list, we have a very amusing chat about "b-sides" so I'll throw that one in as well! Just like on a cassette, a vinyl record has two sides, usually referred to as the "a-side" and the "b-side." Often on singles (7 inch or 12 inch), the song on the "b-side" is a song that isn't available on the full length album (CD). Because of that, a non-album song (such as "Nothing Can Change You") is often referred to as a "b-side" even if the song was never pressed onto a vinyl record. Any more questions, feel free to ask! I know most of you don't know me at all since I've only posted a couple of times, but some of you people are just ridiculous. Some of you just don't seem to realize that it's not always easy for a high school student to spend every free minute copying video tapes. While these trades are important, don't you think school work just might be a little more important in the long run? I have traded with Addie several times, and although the tapes may not have been in my mailbox a week after I sent the money, it would have been absolutely ridiculous for me to expect that. People have lives. I have always been VERY satisfied with EVERYTHING I have gotten from Addie, including a great friendship!!! She is very friendly and fair in her trades and has definitely gone out of her way to get me some rare stuff. Anyways the idea is that if anyone is interested we could kind of take up a collection from everyone on the list who wants to donate, and send in one donation to a charity from the goo goo dolls mailing list. I was thinking that everyone could send their donation to one person(probably me since this is my idea) and then that person could send it in to a charity(everyone could vote on which charity). It would be sent from the mailing list with the individual names of everyone who donated listed as well and if y'all wanted we could send it in honor of the Goo Goo Dolls so that they would receive something letting them know we did this. Sorry to be so long, just thought I'd share a thought, if you're interested e-mail me privately so we won't keep filling up the inboxes of those people who are not interested. Thanks Amy P.S. if this shows up twice I'm sorry I wasn't sure if it worked the first time I tried to send it. If you specify that the money is a Christmas gift they will get a nifty thank you note from the charity. Tommy is a power pop legend, though really not very well known commercially. Bands like the Goos, the Replacements, etc etc all consider him to be one of their biggest influences. He is, in my opinion, the best currently active modern singer-songwriter around. He's been in the power pop biz for more than 20 years now, and has never disappointed. If you are interested in more info about him, just ask, or head on over to his semi-official websight http://hiwaay.net/~ddouglas/tommykeene/index.html The Goos originally recorded their version for A Boy Named Goo, but decided to leave it off the album, in favor of "Disconnected" (a move that got them sued by the Enemies, the band that originally did Disconnected, because they didn't get permission!). They instead used it first, as one of the b-sides of the "Name" single, then, it appeared again as a b-side on the "Slide" single. When I first heard that the Goos were going to record a Tommy Keene song, I was totally thrilled to death! One of my favorite bands covering a song by another of my favorite artists. . .WOW. And, they did not disappoint! Their version is very loyal to the original. . .they did a great job. Anything else I can do for anyone, just ask!
