They don't even play Slide....but they think its okay to insult our wonderful Goos. If you're wondering about this change of heart....just watch...no one minds it if its not their artist, but when it is...frankly, it sucks. I'm not saying e-mail MTV or anything like that, its just, that a bunch of slackoffs and not even great animators decide to poke fun at celebrity cause they're on MTV. Really cruelly. Here are my thought's on it. Deciding the best way to get a tape to the show is the problem. I think that sending a tape around to everyone will be really complicated. People are very busy and might not have time to get to it when it is sent to them. Also, I don't have a camera here at school. I would have to make sure that I get the tape when I am at home and that would be hard to coordinate. Other peolpe might not have access to a camera at all. People could send in clips to one person and make a compilation but that would be a long and tedious process. I don't know if anyone is willing to do that or not. We will have to wait and see. I think the most efficient way to do it is to have one, or a few, make a tape explaining the list and what we are trying to do with the concert list. If someone knows how to make a cool tape with graphics and stuff that would be cool. Then, we could e-mail or send letters the old fashioned way to the person who made the tape and they could send it to the show. I mean, the Goos will be working on their next album and maybe this could get together for the next season of shows. Those are my thought. I would love to hear what you guys have to say. Questions, comments,reactions...let me know and we'll see what we can get going. Fanatic is supposed to connect Artists and their fans and I think this is a creative way to do that. Thanks a lot people! Jessie ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Message-ID: <0.79ed6a5b.255e52c3@aol.com> I got a ton of responses to my question about ordering Goo stuff from WhatsHotNow.com. The people on this list are great - thanks a lot to everyone who responded to my question! :-) To answer my question and if anyone else has the same question, about half the people who replied to me got the stuff they ordered right away. The other half of the people who replied are having problems and have not gotten what they ordered. After getting no response from the What's Hot Now customer service people online, a few people called (1-888-500-7776) them and talked to someone who informed them that their order is on backorder. So it seems like the main problem is that stuff is on backorder but the people from What's Hot Now are not bothering to tell this to people who are waiting on their orders. So basically their "your order will ship in 3-7 business days" statement means either your item is in stock and will ship in 3-7 days or your item is really on backorder and will take about 2 months to ship. Hopefully everyone's stuff they ordered will show up soon and hopefully WhatsHotNow will fix their customer service problems! Thanks again to everyone who answered my question! The austin show kicked booty last night! I was even lucky enough to have a small goo encounter! Read on, I got there at about 6:45 and as soon as I got there I looked for the list people, but no luck. (I'm really sorry about that.) So then as I was looking around the west entrance I saw Nathan walk in the building, but he looked like he was in a hurry so I didn't bother him. Then my mom and I went down to our seats which weren't terrible ,but not that GOOd. after fono my mom and I decided to go outside to look for the list people and as we walked up to the village I saw Nathan again but he was talking to some other fans so I didn't bother him. it was boring until Tonic. I was real embarrassed because during tonic I wanted to stand up and when I did I didn't know what to do because I didn't know the words or anything. Then it was boring boring boring. And then GOO GOO DOLLS!!! When Dizzy came on I started crying but it rubbed off after a little while. I can't remember the setlist sorry. There was no Walk of Shame or BSB nightmare. WE got the lottery joke and an extended version of the Ricky Martin joke. If you want to know it e-mail me. I felt really weird because I was dancing, screaming, and singing to every song and when Two Days, Just the Way you are, and any songs from SSCW everyone sat down and I was the only one singing in my section, but I know I wasn't the only one in the audience. It was probly just us goo mailing list people singing to those songs. I don't wanna sound rude but......When they came back on for the encore, Johnny and Robby were wearing towels on their head. It was cute. And then johnny threw his towel in the audience and after the show I saw the girls who had it. If you're on the list, how much $$$ do you want for it? I know this is rude but they WERE REAL teeny-boppers who liked the goos because of Johnny. I'm sorry but I have to say that. Anyways the show was over, very sad moment but the encounters are coming up. I went up to the stage to ask for the setlist but the guy said that he didn't know if I could have it. So I went outside to look over the little wall by the buses. Ok, like as soon as I looked over I saw Mike in the bike :). Then I moved down to get a better view. Then Dave came out, he was funny. Then Nathan came out. Somebody said he wanted an autograph or something. nathan said " how in the hell can I hunk something up there?". So he got his cigarette and tried flicking it up to the guy but he didn't make it. So after like 3 minutes Mike came out of the bus. I yelled Mike and he looked up and waved right at me!! I promise you he did. Then it went back from Nathan and Dave coming out by the bus to where we could see them. The fono guy came outside and everybody thought it was Johnny and I was like "no". Like 15 minutes later I decided my mom and I should just leave. So we went around the bus thing. The goos bus started pulling under the garage, to where the people over the wall couldn't see. I knew I saw Mike talking so I stayed for a little bit and watched from the parking lot. Then guess who walked to the bus? ROBBY AND His GIRLFRIEND. They are so cute together. Nobody on the other side could see him though because they were under the garage. Anyways Johnny came to the bus too! I was so happy I saw him, but from a very far distance. I thought that was it for the night ,but there is still more. My mom and I decided to drive home, it was only 2 hours. When we got like halfway home, the goos bus passed us and stayed in front of us for likr forever! It was so cool! and in fredricksburg, we passed them but it was a two lane road this time, so I looked back at the bus driver, smiled and he smiled back. And then I looked for the Elmo doll and I saw Johnny sitting on the little side couch thingy! I was listening to I Don't Wanna Know (very cool song) so I was like dancing in my seat. he could have maybe seen me looking back at them and dancing. Anyways we cam to the stop light where my mom and I turned at, away from them. And then I saw Johnny getting up and going to the back of the bus. Well that was my review. Not that detailed in the concert area, but I didn't want to make it longer. Thanks! I went to the Austin concert this weekend, which was totally cool. Anyways I had a major goo encounter!!! I was waiting in front of the west entrance for Ana (sorry I didn't get your e-mail in time)and I heard this bike coming up behind me. So I turned briefly to make sure I wasn't in its path, and it was Mike. I did a double take and he zoomed past me so I yelled out "Hey Mike!" He turned around and said hi and rode over to my friends and I. I introduced myself and my friends and shook his hand. While he was signing my CD I asked him how the tour was going and he said " Its great, but we are really tired, I'm ready to go home" THen he asked my where we were from and I said College station. He then said " Oh cool I've been there, you drove a long ways". Anyways we talked for about 5 minutes and helped him pick a rock out of his tire and he had to go. He was really nice and friendly. The concert was great, but you could tell the guys were tired. Johnny changed some of the pitched during some songs to make them lower so they would be easier to sing. Robby was goofy as usual. The jokes were so funny, I had never heard the Ricky Martin joke before. I got in some trouble with the people behind me, cuz I was singing and jumping around with my friends and they wanted us to sit down so they could see. Overall I had a blast, the guys were wonderful and our seats were great. Be groovy! Message-ID: <0.60de12d0.255f6ad5@aol.com> hey everyone! sorry this is really late, i was going to send it but i jsut never got around to it, i wrote it right when i got back from FL, it's long but enjoy! i just got back from Florida, where i went to the concert at the Hard Rock Live. in case you dont know, i'm the person who won the Goo Goo Dolls charity raffle for OLBS. Anyways, so we (my dad and i) arrived at around 9:00 in the morning in Orlando. We checked into our hotel, which was right across the street from Universal Studios, and Hard Rock Live where the Goo's would be playing. So we decided to go to Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure for the day, since we had all day until the concert started. I was supposed to pick up my tickets and backstage passes before the concert started at the Hard Rock Box Office. so i went over there and the lady said that there weren't any. So i was really frustrated, and the lady was so rude to us. she said that they could show up at any time, even at around 8:00 or 9:00, which wasn't good cause the concert was general admissionand it opened at 6:30. and we would end up in the balcony section. so after much stress and calling around to several people trying to get the tickets, we FINALLY got them, as well as the backstage passes. Anyways, onto the concert. I was pretty close, at the beginning, about 4th row, if there were rows (it was just a huge floor). and then i moved up to about 3rd row, couldn't move very far because there was this group of people right in front of me who were a bit drunk and they were really loud. but that was ok, since i knew i was going to meet them after. Tonic was good, i made alot of eye contact with the lead singer (sorry, i dont know their names!) and the other guitarist. The Goo's were excellent. they were so good. Johnny commented on how tired they all were but it didn't show, i thought. they were really energetic and looked like they were having a great time. so, as usual, they came to Name. the last concert i went to, Johnny gave us a choice but here he just started talking. this is what he said: "I got alotta sh*t for this song. (starts playing the first few chords of Name; audience goes wild) (John laughs) yeah. well, we didn't really want this song to be a single, you know, it's such a sissy song! (audience screams, and John laughs again.) so we, you know, stuck it in the middle of the album, kinda hoping no one would find it. yeah, so then one day i'm driving around, and i turn on the radio, and i hear this (strums a couple of chords of Name) and i go 'click'. (pretends to turn off radio). and i thought to myself, ah, it's jsut a mistake, it wont happen again, someobody jsut mesed up. but then, like a month or two later, i'm in the grocery store looking for dog food, and i hear (a few chords of Name) 'clean up ilse number six, clean up ilse number six.'(John says this in a nasal, monotone voice) and i go SH*T! oh my god, this is not happening. casue you know when your song is played in a grocery store, it's pretty popular. yeah so then, like a few months later, i was getting mail out of my mailbox, it's weird i mean i never mail! well at least i never get letters to me. so i got this one letter, and i opnened it up and htis is what it said "Dear Faggit, you suck and your song sucks. you're a sellout." so i read that, and i was really hurt! that's my song, ya know? so i wrote back "Dear Mr. Indie-punk-rock dude......" and i told him what the song meant to me and i explained it. so i licked the envelope (makes werid sounds into mic) and i was just about to put it into the mailbox and i thought 'John, you dont need to explain yourself to some asshole.' so i ripped it up (makes sounds into mic) and i wrote another letter. "Dear Dickhead. (John starts laughing really hard) Eat a bag of shit. ~Rzeznik" then starts playing Name. Robby was really good. he had so much energy and interacted with the crowd. He was wearing a black shirt and black pants and (suprise!) no shoes. John was wearing a tight black shirt and tight black leather pants, and mike was wearing dark blue i think. The only thing i would have changed about the actual concert was putting in There You Are and Just The Way You Are. they cut both of those songs from the list. ah well, still a great show. also, i noticed whenver Robby sang John wouldn't really fade into the back and let Robby have his glory. But i love Robby so i screamed/sang twice as loud. oh yeah, in the beginning, there was this little kid who was crying because it was so loud so Johnny was like "Someone get this kid some earplugs." and at the end of the concert when they smash the guitars, Robby smashed his, and then John lifted it, as if he was going to smash it but then turned around and ran to the edge of the stage and gave it to that little boy. So after that, everyone piled out and i was a nervous wreck. i was shaking. lol. so we had to wait in line against the wall and i was next to this guy and this woman who was his friend or something and they didn't have passes. she was determined to get in though. the guy said he used to be in band and he actualy played at the HRL. so then the guards came and they checked our passes. we got into and elevator and went down, into the backstage area, where they took us to this room with a tiny stage. The guitarist of Tonic was there, as well as the drummer and they were playing twister with these 4 "teeny bopper girls". it was pretty funny. my dad and i went and sat on the stage. about 15 mins later Mike walked in. and no one even looked at him! i was ecstatic, i mean come on, it's MIKE! so i went over there and i was like "hey Mike" and he turned aorund and said "hey" so i asked him if i could sit with him and he said sure. so we were talking and i told him how great they were in concert and then i was goign to go back the were i was sitting to get my camera, and he said i should hang out with them at the buses later. i was like oh my god!!!!! HE asked ME to hang with HIM by THEIR busses!!!!! ahhhhh!!!!!!!!. lol so i went back with my camera, and i was like "hey Mike, can i bug you again?" and he was like "no." and then he smiled and said "sure, what do you want?" and i told him i wanted a picture with him so i got one. then all these girls started noticing him, so i went back to the stage and was talking to my dad admiring my autograph when the door opened and out walked Robby!!!! (with his girlfriend) he walked ontot he stage and right in front of me. so i was like "hey Robby!" and he said "hey how are you". so i asked him if he could sign my cd slips. and as he was signing, he was said "wow, you have all of them!" he was soooooo nice and he treated me really nicely. i was so happy. and he even talked to my dad and they were talking about the upcoming tour overseas and Robby said that they were playing on a certain ship and he couldn't rememeber the name and my dad knew it! (he works for the Foreign Service) so that was cool. my dad was talking to him and Robby said something like "Johnny gets all the kisses and the hugs" or something. so then i asked his girlfriend if i could have a hug with him and they both laughed. they are so cute! so i got a hug and i got a picture. then i told that i was the one who had won the contest and that his parents had told me to say hi to him and he was like "oh, yeah they're great." and he laughed. so then Robby went over to some other people who wanted autographs. so then we waited, and waited, and waited for John to come out, and somebody said to Robby "where's Johnny?" so Robby went back to check. then like 2 mins later he came back with Johnny, and all these girls just rushed towards him!. he came and sat on the edge of the stage and signed that little boy's guitar. then finally there was a break in all the people so i walked over to him, and he was like "hey!"so i asked him to sign all my cd slips. he did (except he missed one by accident, Jed) and i told him that the show was great. (by the way, the had all changed clothes. Mike was wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt, Robby was wearing a navy blue or black shirt i think, and John was wearing a black shirt and his green drawstring cargo pants. he wasnt wearing any shoes. and i noticed he didn't tie the string in the front.) so then John told me he had to go talk to this guy in a wheelchair. before he left i was like "John, come back cause i need to talk to you" and he said "what?" so said it again and he leaned closer and closer and then he was reeeeeeally close to me and our cheeks were touching and he said really quietly "what?" so i said it again (lol i think he was teasing me) and then he grabbed my wrists and said "dont move, i'll be right back, i promise." so i waited and finally he came back after he had said hello to everyone else. so i told him i had a couple of things to say to him, but first i gave him the friendship bracelet that i had made him. he was like "oh cool! that's so cool!" and he asked me tie it on him cause he said "i'm stupid with things like this". so i put it on and i have having a hard time cause i was sooo nervous. and then i asked him if i could get a hug and a kiss (cause other girls were getting kisses form him on the cheek), and he said he sure. so we talked for a while about stuff, and me winning the contest, and he gave me a hug (he is soooo nice!) and i saw his tattoos, but then dave (the manager) said they had to go. So i gave Johnny a hug goodbye, and then he turned around and kissed me on the lips! i was so happy, casue i didn't think i was going to get one, but i still wanted to ask, you know? i would have been perfectly happy if it was just on the cheek, or if all i got was a hug. it was cool cause all the other girls who asked him he either kissed them on the cheek or not at all, i was the only one who got a kiss on the lips. (sorry, i'm on cloud nine!) it was great. then when they walked out of the door, John turned around looked at me and smiled. ahhhhh!!!!! i'm in heaven! sorry if i'm rambling on but it was a great night! ~Ki ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Nov 1999 20:42:56 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: STORMYGooDoll@aol.com Subject: Orlando Review and Goo Encounters!!!!!!!!! ~Ki ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Nov 1999 20:46:54 -0500 To: From: "Pat " Subject: Pictures from vh-1's before they were rock stars Message-id: <19991113205449.75cd593998f111d39f9c0008c7b205a3.in@osiris.bboard.com> Hi i just added 2 pages of pictures from before they were rock stars. They can be seen on my goo goo doll digital pic's and waves http://www.fortunecity.com/tinpan/piano/204 Rag Doll......Pat ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Nov 1999 20:58:13 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: RobbyTfan@aol.com Subject: great photos Message-ID: <0.b4b4b613.255f7135@aol.com> I wanted to brag about a good friend of mine's photos. Message-ID: <0.39e74804.255fb48e@aol.com> Hi everyone! I went to the austin concert last night and let me just say it was way cool! Firstly, all the shirts were $8-10 cheaper than they were at houston concert, so i thought that was cool. There was no live cd everyone has been talking about. the sound system was the loudest i'd ever heard, which was great for the goos but we went outside for the opener and about 1/2 of tonic. the crowd was truly the most boring crowd i've ever seen. no one stood up for tonic except us and like 3 other people. then it was time for the goos and everyone got a kick out of there googaloo song. Does anyone know what the song said to say? our guys looked like they were having a blast! it was the most fun i had ever seen them have preforming. A thousand words totally rocked, i wish they would record it. everyone stood but no one was into it. i was threatened to get kicked out by three different security guards but it never happened for dancing on the seats and swinging my glow sticks in the air (did anyone there see me?) and a poster. while johnny was telling the 2nd part of his ricky martin joke. he was holding his crotch the whole time, and as my friend put it, "There was major grippage going on!" During acoustic #3 it was so quiet i could have sworn the whole arena heard me and her singing w/ johnny. they did the encore w/ towls on there head and i love when they start jamming during 2 days in february. the entire band had a case of the giggles and it was so funny watching them try to sing. i really hope someone recorded that show on austin tv...i'm in houston so i couldn't do it. i took a roll of pics and hopefully they'll turn out ok. it was well worth the 6 hours of driving to go! ~laura~ ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Nov 1999 02:10:52 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Michel2517@aol.com Subject: FERN On tour with the Goos Message-ID: <0.2031fa6e.255fba7c@aol.com> Hello everyone.Well, if you went to one of the MP3.com shows lately, then you probably saw Fern open up for the Goo Goo Dolls. In '93, I saw the Goo Goo Dolls with the Muffs, a decent pop-rock band that has gone through some line-up changes (for the better) since those days. In '95, the Goos toured with a lineup I'd *love* to see now -- I was unfamiliar with these bands at the time, but now I like them both. It was a triple-bill with the Goos, the Smoking Popes, and You Am I. The Smoking Popes are sort of like Morrissey crossed with the Ramones -- punk-pop with crooning vocals. They didn't really impress me back then, but their next CD had some really good stuff on it. You Am I (from Australia), on the other hand, are one of the greatest damn live rock bands around! Their CDs have never quite gotten it right, but when they play live, they're brash and funny and amazingly energetic! And I love the early Kinks overtones in their stuff. Later on in '95, a band called Universal Honey was opening for the Goos. Female vocals, good pop-rock sound . . . I got their CD and didn't like it much compared to the live show. I noticed that they thanked the Goos in the booklet for their next CD, but I never bought it (just looked at it at a used CD store). The Goos picked a terrific Boston band called Buffalo Tom to open for them in the fall of '98. I *really* wanted to see one of those shows (I've been a BT fan for a long time, too!) but couldn't -- and by the time the tour hit my area, the opening band was Kansas City's Frogpond, who I like but who I've seen 20 times in local clubs. Frogpond also opened some of the Fuse Tour last summer. Then you've got Fastball, Sugar Ray (the only Goo opening act I really hated), and Tonic and the MP3 acts (though I didn't see the MP3 tour). I've gotta drop a plug for Fern, from Springfield, MO -- another young regional band that I've seen a few times in clubs. Good band. Surely there are countless others. The Goos opened for the Replacements, Kiss, and the Rolling Stones, and I'm sure they played with dozens and dozens of bands in the early days before their tours were package deals. Message-ID: <0.39e89981.25602e60@aol.com> Hey Goobers, I have had a few questions about me picking things up at the Buffalo concerts so I am going to post a couple answers up in hopes that it will make things clearer for everyone, here goes: What are the prices and what do they sell? They usually always have t-shirts (s, m, l, xl) $20-$25, sticker packets (4 different designs) $10, silver ball chain necklace w/ round pendant the says on one side "the goo goo dolls" and the other side says "dizzy up the girl tour" $10. I have seen "dizzy" baseball hats but I have not seen them at any venues I have been to. I have heard about the new beanie HAT and live cd, if they have them I will get them. What are you charging? I will only charge the price of the item + shipping (your choice of shipping). I am not looking for profit, I just thought I would help anyone out who wants something. If the item is not there I will REFUND your money. If the item costs less than what you paid, I will REFUND the difference. Again, I hope I can be helpful and if you have any other question I'll be glad to answer. I would like to put it on the news section of my webpage. Also, for those of you who wanted a copy of the 1st release CD, please send 6.00 to me, in whatever form is most convenient, (check, cash, MO) to: Lori Hamilton 108 Maple St. Homer, LA 71040 This covers the cost of a high quality Sony CD-It cassette, shipping and cost of a bubble envelope. If you don't have something to trade, we can still work out something, I'm not going to charge a million dollars either, I'm not really looking for profit. I will still make cassette tapes of: Live in Amsterdam CD Black Balloon, live, acoustic single The Goo Goo Dolls first release I still have many copies of November's Rolling Stone. I have the Fly2K on video tape if anyone is looking for it. Also on video tape: Loveline, FAnatic, BIOrhythm, David Letterman "Slide", Jay Leno "Black Balloon", Behind the Music, Backyard BBQ, Rosie O' Donnell "Black Balloon" + interview, "Slide on the American Music Awards, CNN clip, "Black Balloon performance on the GQ Awards, 1996 "Snow Job" concert in Banff, Alberta, VH1 Hard rock Live 1998, Before They Were Rock Stars, and the following music videos: Iris #2 on top 10 love songs of the year, We Are the Normal, Dizzy, and Black Balloon. I have some harder to get magazines including Backyard BBQ L. A. newspaper, HOWEVER, I am out of original copies, but if you want photo copies, I will enclose them for free. Among the magazines are some Buffalo articles and the HARD TO FIND British addition GQ magazine the Goos modeled in. I think I covered everything, please email me privately, thanx for being patient enough if you read this far. Message-Id: <4.1.19991114090353.0097bc40@mail> Hey gang, I have some friends who are in a local band here in Phoenix called Stone Bogart, and they're really great. If you like cool music that's sort of a mix of alternative/rock/pop, check them out at . I also have a plug for them on my personal website (along with some pictures - these guys are cute!) at . You can also listen to some of their songs for free at . Download their songs and give them a listen - it's great music. Plus, every hit they get to their songs and website is one step closer to a record deal for them. :-) These are really great guys, so if you find yourself with a free moment, check them out...and if you like them, drop them a line and let them know via the email addresses on their website, they love to hear from people (and you can let them know that I sent you!). Thanks, and back to your regularly scheduled programming... :-) -Christine -- Christine Edwards cedwards@home.com http://members.home.net/cedwards - NEW AND IMPROVED - Check it out if you haven't seen it in a while! http://members.home.net/cedwards/chrissy.html - My very own page all about me! ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 14 Nov 1999 11:24:39 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Kyrieluv@aol.com Subject: Goo Merchandise Message-ID: <0.ceb02319.25603c47@aol.com> Hey Goovers! For those of you interested in Goo tour merchandise, chances are that everything they have at the shows is also available at their online store. Go to www.googoodolls.org and click on the store link. They accept money orders and checks for those of you without credit cards and it would probably be less of a hassle than trying to find someone on the list to buy it for you. As far as I can tell, the shipping costs are about the same as what the post office would charge. It has been my experience that each venue has had different merchandise. I've seen some things at one show that weren't available at another. Using the Goo's online store eliminates this hassle as well.
