The charity idea would be great, the Goos would definitly do it. The only problem I have is the I'm on the west coast (California), and although I would LOVE to travel anywhere for this concert, I can't. I have no $$ for any air travel (or any travel for that matter) and would barely have enough $$ to buy a ticket to see the show. I was thinking maybe having two shows: one for the people on the eastern side of the US, another for people on the western side. Just a thought.... What do you think? If $$ wasn't the problem with me I would go almost *anywhere* to see the Goos with fellow list members. Maybe you guys could take pictures for me????.... Whatever the case, I'm willing to help out with anything, even if I myself can't go to the concert. Good luck to all of you. The Goos should be so lucky to have fans like us!! I am not some annoying little teenybopper who "loves" John so, much, and thinks, OMG, he's the hottest thing on earth. NO. OK, first of all, he's how much older than me? Yes, I love John, Robby and Mike, but not in the way most people think teenagers do. I love who they are, and what they stand for. OK, sure John is Cute, but I'm not going to fall in love with him, and start sending him love letters. Their music is great, and touches me in a way music never has before. That is the love i have for the goos. I just wanted to let everyone know, because I know some people think that all teenagers think the same way. It was cold outside the venue, but the Goo spirit kept everyone warm inside from beginning to end. It was such a nice evening. I got there early enough to secure my spot up front close to the stage where I planned to spend the whole show, right in front of Johnny's mic. It was worth it! In the line, some of us saw Johnny and Robby walk out the front gate to go eat with their girls. My fanettiquette didn't let me get close to them, it would have annoyed them I'm sure. Some girls ran after them for an autograph/pic. It was funny to see them try walk by like normal people, but not quite huh. I met some cool fans, Angie, Cassie, Ash, Michelle... hello gals. Once inside, people were well behaved to each other with or without alcohol, there was no violence, no conflict, only harmony. Lovely! The Goos were proud of us, you bet. Johnny commented a lot on what a great audience we were. Tonic sounded so great live, and I was getting a kick out of the guitar player on my left side. Woooho... Hot. Ok, they were very good and I am one to suggest you go out and buy their Cd! I'm gonna get it myself. They played a short set, but it was sweet music to the ears, Check them out. The Goos did this disco lights intro along with a 70's song which was totally cool, then Johnny stormed out with Dizzy. The set list was as follows: Dizzy Long Way Down Lazy Eye Slide Full 4ever Black Bslloon Naked Name January Friend 'Cause you're gone Broadway 2nd time around flat top acoustic #3 iris just the way you are burning up 2 days in february I got Johnny's set list with his shoeprints all over it. Someone might think that'll go down in history from the Hard Rock Live stage? LOL I also got a pic he threw. That made me happy. Instead of breaking his grand finale white guitar, Johnny gave it to this cute little kid in the front on my right side. That was starlight moment, I'm sure that kid was having a blast! Right before Name, he told us the extensive version of the original Name story, which I think most people know by now. It was hilarious, John is a comedian by nature. He also told the sarcastic lottery joke. My favorite part of the night was when Johnny sang "Cause Yer Gone." I could swear that was his voice on a pedestal. He sang it with incredible passion, feeling, depth, I almost cried. How he sang the last part of the song was magical. It was Johnny at his very best. WOW. YOU just had to be there to know what I'm talking about... I couldn't take any pictures because the security there was very anal and didn't let anyone shoot them. It was impossible for me to risk it being right on their face. I wished I had taken some though, because I was in the most prefect spot. But who cares, the memory remains. After the show I hung out on the side door for a while. My tiny Goo friends (Jamie and gang) went backstage again and got my Tampa set list autographed by Mike and Robby (Thank you girls). That of course, completed my Gooey night. Can you imagine all this? My 11th show was unforgettable. Well, now I can't help it wanting to go to another Goo show. Feud between band and its record label over ownership of Web site reflects a growing battlefront in the industry. By GEOFF BOUCHER, Times Staff Writer Goo Goo Dolls may be a regrettable choice for a band name--even the members of the rock trio have admitted that--but it's apparently worth fighting for as a brand name. The group from Buffalo, N.Y., which hit it big with the song "Iris" in 1998, is now fighting its label, Warner Bros. Records, for control of the http://googoodolls.com Web site, and the feud recently prompted the band to set up a competing "official" site at http://googoodolls.org that is nearly identical in the nature of its content. That conflict is hardly unique. Metallica, the Offspring and Aerosmith have all battled their labels for online control, and Rage Against the Machine is currently wrangling with its label on a similar issue. The issue may seem like just another battlefront in the endless struggle between artists and the corporations that sell their music. But to some observers, such as Marc Geiger, co-CEO of ArtistDirect, the quest to control Web sites is far more than a skirmish. "It's quite simply the single most important issue on the landscape today," said Geiger, whose company creates online stores for artists such as the Rolling Stones and Limp Bizkit. "The stuff that goes through the site--the music, the tickets, the advertising--that's the oil going through the pipe, but what's important is who owns the pipeline." Others compare Web site content to a hit television show, while the Web site itself is akin to the far more valuable network that airs that show. So, not surprisingly, across the music industry the ownership of artist-named Web sites has become a contentious issue as major powers such as Warner and Sony make a concerted effort to scoop up the valuable virtual real estate known as URLs--which stands for Uniform Resource Locater, the "address" of Internet sites. "The last month or so, these two companies have really started focusing on taking all URLs," said Peter Paterno, an attorney who represents the Goo Goo Dolls, the Offspring and Dr. Dre. "Why are they doing it? When you worry, you grab up everything." The worry of the record companies, according to Paterno and other industry insiders, is that the Web sites bearing the names of artists will become central hubs of music commerce in the years to come. Albums, concert tickets, T-shirts and all the other revenue sources of the music machine will be increasingly sold through Web sites, and that does not even include the Holy Grail of the great online music enterprise: the digital download of music, which promises to shift a huge chunk of future music sales from record stores to modems. The Web site value is more than potential, too. There is already its powerful lure as a marketing tool. The fans who keep track of their favorite bands online also can be potentially tracked themselves, creating huge mailing lists and instant taste barometers that make record companies salivate. The artists, meanwhile, see the Web sites as intensely personal creations and a direct link to their fans that might be despoiled by a pushy record company taking over the reins. Both sides of the dispute are visible in clear relief to Gary Gersh, the former president of Capitol Records who is now co-manager of Beck, the Foo Fighters and Beastie Boys. "I think for a long time the labels viewed the Web sites as fan clubs, they didn't view them as retail stores and for their real value," Gersh said. "The value is that it's a direct connection with the audience. . . . The content on the page has to be in keeping with the language and sensibilities that the audience expects and wants to see. It's extremely important." How important? Well, when Marilyn Manson was beset by criticism following the Columbine high school shooting, he responded with a statement on his Web site. When members of Morphine and Blues Traveler died in the past year, both bands quickly posted messages on their Web sites to reach out to fans. And acts such as the Offspring keep updated journals on their sites to foster a rapport with fans. The Band's Name Is the Brand Name To the record labels, however, all of that suggests exactly why the Web sites need to be in their hands. And because fans generally don't know what label puts out a band's albums, the artist's name is the one fans will search for online, making it the brand name that matters. "Our job is to promote these artists globally, to shape their images and do all the work that gets their music heard," said a Sony executive. "We'd be remiss if we didn't use this tool. And we also spend a lot of money on these sites, and we have to be able to control that investment, frankly." A Sony spokeswoman said the company does not comment on artist contracts or their content. But executives within the company confirmed that Web site ownership has become a clear priority of the corporate giant in its dealings with acts, although those sources differed in their estimation of how strident the company's stance has become. Likewise, a Warner spokesman said the company would not comment on the Goo Goo Dolls situation or other contract skirmishes. Privately, though, Warner executives point out that the company created and maintains the Dolls' site and--echoing the Sony executive's point--the company is loathe to walk away from that investment at the whim of the act. Acts of Wry and Sly Internet Revenge Managers and attorneys for artists say Sony has a new "zero tolerance" policy for new bands signed: Give up the Web site rights, or no contract. But the experience of a new act, Crazy Town, signed to Sony's Columbia Records, suggests that is an overstatement, if not by much. Crazy Town's debut album, "Gift of Game," comes out Tuesday, but because the young band refused to cede its Web site to its new label, Columbia barred the group from advertising its site on the album's artwork. So the band hastily added a 55-second song to the album that repeats the title over and over. What's it called? "Crazytown.com" of course. That's not the only quirky subplot of the roiling dispute. The industry is abuzz with word that the manager of a major band seeking wry revenge has reportedly registered Web site addresses bearing the names of Warner executives--but the manager did not return calls and it could not be verified at press time that he actually reserved those sites. Paterno predicts that the issue will resolve itself in the years to come much the same way merchandising, ownership of master recording and setting artist royalty rates became empowerment issues for established artists in past years. The record companies may wrest away Web sites from new acts, but as those artists become commercial successes they'll likely win back their online names in renegotiation. In the meantime, Paterno, who also represents Metallica, had a half-joking warning for record companies. "You try to take Metallica.com, you'll get a lawsuit." Cheers, -=SoNyA=- A BeAuTiFuL SiGhT ----------------------------------------- "If I could paint in harmony and colors were words I have sung, if I could climb my way up in the sky where the stars are carefully hung, there are flowers in her backyard that resemble the spots of the sun and there are times I look in her eyes and see the woman and God as one." - Hold Me Up ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Nov 1999 09:32:15 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Diva5134@aol.com Subject: MUST READ Message-ID: <0.65f61535.2556e76f@aol.com> OH MY GOSH! I went to the Columbia concert last night that definitely ROCKED! I'll type up a review later. Anyways, I felt the urge to tell about my GOO encounters! I got at the Township Auditorium at around 12 hoping to get to meet them. Asking around, I found out they should arrive around 4pm. I waited by the gate where they would pull in for what seems like forever and then they finally did. Johnny got off first and gladly came over for autographs and pics. I got my pic w/ him along with several other pics, and got him to sign my Guild Gallery, Buffalo Beat, poster from the BB Australian Import, and my Hold Me Up cd. He didn't even know what the poster was so I had to explain it was from the import. I also gave him a Elmo keychain which he was about to sign but I was like no that's for you! Then he was like oh cool ya know I taped sesame street w/ elmo last week , and I'm like I KNOW! So he goes back inside and we see Robby get out but he explains he's gotta go do soundcheck and then he'll be back. He came back and I got a pic w/ him along with he signed my Superstar Carwash and my shoe, lol. Then Nathan came out and I got him to sign my shirt. Finally Mike came out and he signed my shirt and I got a pic w/ him. I'm pretty sure Dave never came out for autographs, but I left to buy Pez so I wouldn't know. Ok well the concert was great, Johnny threw a guitar pic right at me, and then later he threw me his bracelet!!! It's one w/ Japanese symbols on it. Afterwards I asked the guy on stage to give me Johnny's setlist and he did. Then afterwards we left and ended up getting right behind the tourbus! They were going the exact same way we were so we were behind them all the way home. Then the bus got off at an exit and stopped at the gas station we did! I saw Mike get out but he didn't go inside. Johnny got out w/ a black hat and black DUTG jacket on. He went inside and I went inside too to get a coke and whatnot. This other girl I met off the list(hi Amy!) who lives in the town I do went in too, she had been in the car right behind us. We both got the newspaper w/ Johnny's pic in it. And she went back there to him where he was hitting a bag of ice on the floor, and she asked for him to sign the pic. He did and he signed mine as well. He was really nice about letting us get pics w/ him. Johnny was buying vienna sausages and all these other can foods, and this other guy off the bus was buying doughnuts. Well we all got back on the road and they were still going the same way as us. We get off at the N. Augusta exit and surprisingly enough they did too! They pulled into another gas station, but we went on home. Message-ID: <19991107193542.33638.qmail@hotmail.com> Hey kiddies: thanks for emailing me to those who did - I just wanted to let everyone know - I was a little off with my "everyone chip in $ for the concert" idea. Reason that I came up with those numbers was that several years ago (when I was doing my undergrad - I'm in grad school now), the Mighty Mighty Bosstones came to my school and I believe that we got them for like around $4000 - $5000 (prices have apparently skyrocketed since or we somehow got a HUGE break on them!). Apparently, I was slightly off (*sorry*). Since I wasn't around on the list when figures were quoted - I missed the 'somewhere between $15000 - $65000' that was quoted for the goos! Whoops. So - I suppose it's up to other funding and whatever break they'd be willing to cut for us! right??? I do like who ever's idea it was to ask them to hang around for another day if they were doing several shows in an area (I'm not sure if they are still touring in the summer though - I heard that they may go through Feb. or March and then take time off, then go into the studio again for a new record - who knows though). Anyway - Allie - excellent! I'm so happy that someone else out there respects them the way that I do! (Plus I thought that I was the only one to still use the word "teeniebopper" - ha!) You give me hope for your generation (my generation? I'm 22 - how do they work those things anyway? :) ) And to those 30+ ladies - don't feel bad! I'm 22 going on 40 - I feel exactly the same way! He's kind of mesmerizing, isn't he? Like you watch and listen to him and then just spit out this awestruck, "wow!" The guy's got it - it's a shame more men out there can't be like him in that way! ;) Be GOOd - take care- Frosty! ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Nov 1999 15:49:11 EST To: karen_bio@hotmail.com From: Krisal11@aol.com CC: goo@mailinglists.org Subject: Re: [GOO] list concert and other... Kristen turns 22 today and is from the Chicago area. (hey, my aunt lives there!) the question i asked her was: if u could name acoustic #3, what name would u give it and why? what does the song mean to u? (if u can relate it to your life, that's awesome, or if not just what do u think john was singing about?) and here was her response: "first of all i have a hard time naming songs that are already named, cuz they're that way for a reason BUT i think i'd go with something like "unfeeling eyes" (there's nothing real left about her) What does the song mean to me? someone's living a lie....she knows it and he knows it...but she won't acknowledge it.....in fact she's accepted it as truth. anything she's ever dreamed of was thwarted by reality...and her true being slips farther and farther away...all the talk about being true to yourself doesnt affect her anymore....she's no idea who she rally is.....she is becoming unknown......relate it to me? i can't say i exactly can...i try to be true to myself...but there are always certain situations where i benefit from being someone other than me....BUT that only lasts for the time being...not for the rest of my life! *grin* " Have a wonderful birthday Kristen! I AM NOT saying this is true or even that it's any of my business. I was told by these girls at the concert that they had been watching MTV (some news portion - I rarely watch MTV so no clue what they were referring to) and that they reported finding cocaine in his room. I was shaken by this because of the way I (and all of you) feel about the Goos, and given all the questioning about John's drinking lately, it made me concerned. A request: Please read at least the begining of each paragraph if you bothered to look at this...you might have an answer to something =) thanks.Although the rumor may be true, the person at the concert was positivly lying about it being on MTV. How do I know? Because everytime MTV does a little tidbit on MTV News they stick it in article form on their website. There's no lil' article on the site saying anything about that They even put up the articles before the thing airs sometimes..., so it's probably just that, a rumor. Why do people make up these? I don't know. Maybe because they're so BORED that in order to have a little fun in their lives they have to spice up someone else's. Either way, who cares. What some people say is not worth listening to. As for me, I still love their music, and still feel they are giving people, and them doing drugs would not change that opinion nor my opinion that drugs are still bad. So where should you all be? Right where you were before you read all these e-mails on this subject. Okee dokee. Yesterday I had to go through all my 410 e-mails ..anyway, I'm straying as usual. This whole list concert thing... Jewel did something similar for people in her official fan club, but I would think that this is going to need a lot of organization and so on and so forth. I'd like to do this, but I know my 'rents wouldn't let me fly to see the Goos. I'm in California, too, so I believe having an East Coast and West Coast one is a good idea. However, I know absolutly nothing on this subject 'cause I deleted all my e-mails, so could some kind-hearted person please give me details in where this all stands right now, what's going on, so on and so forth? Oh, I know, I'm picky, but could that kind-hearted person make it a short e-mail? What can I say, I'm a hypocrite, I write long e-mails, but I hate reading 'em. I don't actually expect most people to read all my rambling...just the actual points. Go further down if you're not her: This message is for the person planning to have the tailgate party at the Irvine Show....I forgot who this is. Anyway, umm, how long is this going to be? I can't get there by 1...no possible way. THe earliest I can be there is...hmmm...2 probably. It's a neat idea....maybe we could all form the front of the line and stick together and get the front rows and pad each other so we don't get killed. I like that idea...I'm still paranoid about being stomped...at the Galaxy show in '98 my friend's dad was protecting me from behind which is why I didn't get killed...this year it's my mom, and since she's shorter than me, it'll be sorta' hard for her to do that. This is my last thing. Does anyone have a transcript of the MP3 interviews? Would anyone be willing to do this for me? Thanks, it would mean a lot. E-mail me privately. Now I need to go. Crap, it smells like smoke in here and the appliances are making weird noises out of nowhere. My house hates me, it's eeeeeevil. I hate this house. Shhh, don't tell my house, it might eat me. Tell it I love it. I love you house, I swear, I do. Okay, Prozac Nation is having a bad influence on me. Good book. You should read it. Yeah. Okay. Buh-bye now. ~Ani "the chick with the 'Can't sleep. Anyone who's got any clue - please fill us in! Just wanted to say that I love you guys! (figuratively speaking of course :) ) I kept getting blasted for my love of the goos (since '94) - my friends thought that I was nuts, then, little by little, I met some people and thought - hey - there ARE others out there like me who get these guys! Then I got on this list - ha! You all are a riot (in a good way)! Thanks for making me smile and not feeling so out there! I think that it's just great that the goos have loyal fans like me and you all who support and love them so dearly! You guys ROCK! To the girl who emailed me who's 25 (sorry, I missed your name) - thanks - it helps to know that there's others out there who think the same way you do :) ! Finally - about this possibility of John doing cocaine. I wouldn't be surprised if that is the case. Not that I know anything about it, but, remember kids - if you watched the Behind the Music - he point blank stated that they used to do pot and some other drugs until they were so messed up they couldn't hit the record button (Ok - well - Robby said that - but John did say they had a lot of truck stop pot). So - John and Robby did drugs at least once in their lives - so don't be so shocked to hear of the possibility that it's occurring again or that he's drinking a lot again. It's his life and hopefully he'll realize (at some point) that he's hurting himself and others around him doing that (I hope!). That's all I'm going to say about that because I don't want to beat the subject into the ground. OK gang - thanks for always making me smile - this has been a cool first couple of days for me! This wasn't exactly the way I expected my first post to go, but I just wanted to make a few comments about the rumor which many people seem to have confirmed ISN'T true, but anyhow I still wanted to comment on the whole issue of idolizing John etc. Amanda made the comment about people worshipping John and taking everything he says to heart, which I agree happens, but I think the reason that the rumor got posted here in the first place was because of concern... not necessarily because it was something that would make John seem like less "perfect". Personally, when I heard it I was concerned- not because John would seem like less of a person to me, but because I've seen the effects of drugs and it can really f**k up lives, and not just that of the user/abuser. It's not a pretty sight and not something I'd want to happen to anyone, whether I worship them or not. So it may be none of my business, but I still care about him and hope for his sake that it's not true- even though it now seems pretty much certain that it isn't. Goo Goo Dolls and Tonic were in the gymnasium of St. Vincent College, with 4 other bands, in the Mp3 Music and Technology Tour. I experienced this on Friday, October 29. As each band hit the stage, the crowd got more energetic. When Goo Goo Dolls hit the stage, about 9:45, everyone was full of life. They played various songs that they released on all 6 of their CDs, but the songs that the audience sung and dance to the most were "Name, "Slide," "Black Balloon." (their current song on the charts) and "Iris," one of the biggest songs of 1998. I've been to two of their concerts in the past and they seemed to interact with the crowd more than ever for this concert. John Rzeznik, lead guitar and vocals, seemed to joke around with the audience more, since it was a Catholic school and that's the type of school that he grew up in. The only negatice thing that I found about the concert was that since it was in a gymnasium, the sound system echoed and in a lot of instances you couldn't understand what they said. After the show, I asked a friend what she thought of the group and the concert. She responded with, "I've loved Bruce Springstein all through high school and college because of his song writing and John Rzeznik could even top that." Early next year, they will be recording their next album. Until then, I would reccomend picking up their current album, Dizzy up the Girl, at any local music store. Here's the second one: When I fortunate enough to meet The Goo Goo Dolls, before the concert, it was an experience in itself. After being my inspiration for 5 years, I finally got to let them know how much their music is appriciated and loved by their fans. I was so suprised when my cousin, who took me the concert, told me that we got backstage passes. I had to hurry and think of a question that I wanted to ask them. The first thing that came to my mind was advice for teenagers growing up today. When I finally got backstage, I couldn't think because I was so excited. But, I got through the experience because their personalities were so warm. They treated me as if I were a life-long friend. I finally got the courage to ask them the question, what advice they would give to teenagers growing up today. John Rzeznik's response was a simple, "Hang on to it!" It was definately an experience that I will never forget! ~~Bon Bon ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 7 Nov 1999 16:24:21 -0500 (EST) To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Jossel@webtv.net (Stephanie Riddle) Subject: silly but Goo related Message-ID: <16560-3825EE05-8471@storefull-273.iap.bryant.webtv.net> HELP!!! (Hey Lindsey!!) We met john again out by the fence & he signed one of my halloween pictures & I^Òm going to see if it will copy!! The show was good, but the guards up front were very anal & we couldn^Òt take many pics. I got about 20 before they threatened to take the camera away!!! So, I got them back today & they are pretty good. We drove from Atlanta only to find out that the tickets I had ordered were not on the floor as I had requested^Åbut on the balcony..OOOOH was I mad. As I was standing there bitching to the ticket guy, another guy named Travis ( We love you Travis!!!!) stuck his head out of the main door & said he had 2 floor tickets for me (He was working & didn^Òt need them). He was a sweetie. He told us which doors to get in front of that they would be opening later (there were 5 sets of doors). As it turned out, we were in front of the wrong doors when it came time to open the doors. We had been there since one o^Òclock, along with theses 3 guys in front of the correct doors.(and were shortly joined by Nicole & Kathy from Atlanta, Aimee from Augusta & Lindsey & her mom Donna from Augusta , also^Å.hey girls!) Those 3 guys were from Raleigh NC & were so sweet, they said we could get in front of them because they had balcony tix & they knew we had floor tix. Being considerate, we asked the girls behind them if we could get in front of those guys since we had been the first people there & they pitched a fit & said, basically Tough luck!! I was so mad, but didn^Òt want to cut line *& cause a big scene. So, I went back into the main doors & asked Travis if we could come inside & just wait until the doors opened & get in first because we had been there all day.(Those other girls said they were there as long as we were, but they had actually arrived at 5pm) Travis, being the sweetie that he was said 2 of us could come in & we^Òd have to try & save seats. We secretly pushed open the door our friends were in front of & when the guards let the other people in, our friends rushed the door & about 10 people got in before they closed that door again!!!! Needless to say, the guards down front did not want us to save seats, but there was Travis again coming to our rescue. He told the guards to be cool, it was ok & withing a few seconds, all of us were seated on the front row. WOW , someone prayed correctly & we were all taken care of) The MP3.com bands were very entertaining. I thought 6-gig was ok, Thrillcraft was ok, but, the singer was a bit full of himself. The most wonderful band (to me & my friends) was FONO. They are from England & are more than great. & nice. We bought the cd & they signed it for us. Singer (Del) is very hot!! Anyway ~ if you read my Halloween review, you know that I have met Miyoko (Robby^Òs girlfriend) several times & I gave her a present for her & Robby (It was a ^Ópower Pez^Ô^Å.it^Òs really cool & I can see it entertaining Robby for hours!!!). We talked for a while & She asked if I was going to be at the show the next night in Murf. TN & I said yes & she said she^Òd look for me!!! I told her I^Òd be up front^Åagain!!!  She is so cool!! Robby is a very lucky guy!! Tonic was very good, but I was psyched to see the Dolls again & was antsy all the way through Tonic. When the guys came out they had these flashy colorful lights & funky disco music playing & I swear it sounds like the girl is saying ^Óeverybody say GOO^Ô, but maybe it was just bad hearing!!!!! They were great, of course, but Johnny looked so tired. He needed to rest. No new stories or jokes that havn^Òt been heard yet. We left right after the show, to get home to Atlanta & get up for our 3 hour drive the next day to Murf. TN!!!! We got to approximately an hour & a half down the road when here came the tour buses up on us (They caught up to us after the charlotte show, too & were going about 95 mph^Å.when we passed them again they were pulled over on the side of the road by the cops^Å.hahaha^Åwe should have stopped, that would have been some great pics!!!!!) My friends car has a personalized tag which says Dizzy up the girl on it & when they passed us the bus honked & flashed the inside lights. Cool!!! We had to get off at the atlanta exit, but we would like to have followed them to TN!!! We stopped at a gas station on the way out of town & picked up 5 extra newspapers with Johnny on the front page of the sports section playing baseball, with an interesting story about the ball game they put together on their day off there. If you want one, E-mail me with trades please!!!! On to TN show^Å^Å^Å^Å^Å^Å^Å^Å Mufreesboro Tn show at the MTSU center: Well^Å.we got about 5 hours of sleep & were so psyched that we had to get up & go. We got there at 12:30 & were the first people there. We placed ourselves in front of the doors & looked around a bit at the MP3.COM stuff. We noticed something there called the Gallery Guild WITH THE ABSOLUTE BEST PICTURE OF MR. RZEZNIK. I have ever seen. He looks absolutely beautiful!!!! There is an article, too. I wish we had known about this the first day, but we grabbed all the mags they had left (5) and I am offering them up for trade. So go ahead, flock the e-mails to me!!!  While walking around, there was the band I had loved from the night before: FONO. I was excited to see them & Del (singer)& Andy (drummer) remembered me & I got some pics with them.^Åthey are absolutely SO nice!!!!!!! Check them out on MP3.com!!!!! we met some girls there we had met at the Knoxville show ( Hey Cathy, Terri, Carolyn & Jenny!!!!! ) and made some new friends with Allyson (her birthday was that day) and Jen & Rachel^Å..great to meet you. Happy birthday Allison. We all got up front & stood through the bands again ( I loved FONO of course) Tonic was ON!! They sounded great! BUT^Å^Å. I don^Òt think I have ever seen the Dolls put on a more fabulous show. At one point someone threw a condom on stage at john & he laughed & took it out & blew it up(we have pics of this) and said :guys, did you see what I just did??: Don^Òt ever try & tell girls that they won^Òt fit!!!) Ha ha ha!!! LOL! He was so damn funny. Our frineds from Knoxville made a ton of signs & John took 2 of them up on stage & showed the crowd. One said (you guys fucking rock)^Åhe loved it!!!! The other one was a pic blown up of him on stage grabbing hid ^Óstuff^Ô as he put it^Å^Å. He laughed because it said ^ÓDo the crotch Grab again & feel free to use our hands!!!) he kept the sign!!!! They were full of more energy than I have ever seen & to make the night even more special^Å. Before the show, Miyoko came over to us ( Me & My friend Shana) and we gave her a card we had bought her(we won^Òt see her for a while on this tour) and she handed me a card^Å^Å I almost flipped. It was a thsnk you card from her & robbie for the pez machine from the night before. Robby had signed thank you really big ^Å.. in PEZ- like letters!!!!!! I couldn^Òt believe it^Å.how sweet!! I will treasure this forever!!!! That he even took the time out to sign a card for me, much less draw out thank you in pez candy shapes!!!! They are definitely on ther top of my list . It was a great weekend & I have tons of pics! (6 rolls) I^Òll scan them tomorrow & let everyone know where to see them. Hope you all have some wonderful experiences like wee did. ~Roxxanne~ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? There was just no way I could leave out even the slightest minor detail about a show that was that AWESOME. --Lindsay The Columbia, South Carolina show on November 6,1999 was by far the best Goo Goo Dolls show I've been to. I arrived at the Township Auditorium at 12pm so I could try to meet them. I waited outside the gates where the tour bus would pull in. Eventually 4pm rolled around. The tour bus backed in and Johnny was the first to get off. I screamed his name and he gladly came over. John came directly to me and began to sign my Buffalo Beat, Guild Gallery, and Black Balloon Australian Import poster, he said " What's this?" and I responded " it came from the Black Balloon Australian Import" and he said " really, that's wild." He took my camera and gave it to some guy and I was able to fit through the gate to get right by him for a great pic. I stayed in that spot and called him back over to give him an Elmo keychain. He was about to sign it when I was like " No, that's for you" adn he said " oh thanks, ya know I just taped Sesame Street w/ Elmo last week" and I said " I KNOW!" Then I moved out of the way for other fans but slid back through and got my Hold Me Up cd signed. He left and I waited for the others. Robby came out but said he had to go do soundcheck but would be back shortly. Well I waited and waited and a window opened from the building and it was Nathan sticking his head out. I yelled at him and got a picture. Mike was the next to come out. I got my pic w/ him and he signed my Goo shirt. Nathan came out shortly after and I got him to sign my shirt as well. Later a girl I met said she saw Robby. I was like no way because I thought he was still inside but I eventually saw him walking towards us from between the tour buses. He came over to sign my Superstar Carwash cd. I was at a loss of words bus was like "you rock!" and " I met johnny earlier, he's awesome too" and he said " yeah he's one awesome guy." I got my pic w/ him then saw a girl getting her shoe signed so I was like what the heck and stuck my shoe up there. Know my shoe says Robby! on the toe. he left and I went to the front of the auditorium where my mom was waiting to get in w/ some people from the list (hi!). I went w/ one of them to go buy some Pez and returned. Soon after returning we found out that the security guy that had told us that door would be opened was wrong. Thankfully Roxanne (hi!) had known someone that worked there and he let her inside early. They cracked the door where were we were standing and when the time came to go in we all rushed in as we heard the security yell "get the doors"! Front row, wow, what an awesome place to be(thanx again Roxanne!)! The mp3 bands were alright, they were Fono,Six something, and Thrillcraft. Fono was the best, the lead singer of Thrillcraft was "feeling" himself too much. Tonic was pretty good too. Finally, the Goo's. What can I say? AWESOME!!! They did their usual setlist of Dizzy, Longway Down, Lazy Eye,etc. Johnny threw a guitar pic right at me and I eventually got one of Nathan's too. Johnny also threw me his bracelet! It's beads w/ Japanese writing on it. What a guy! They really put on a great performance,no surprise there. They interacted w/ the crowd more than at the Atlanta(9/2)and Augusta(3/3) shows which was nice. After the concert I got Johnny's setlist, and when we went outside this guy came up and handed me a pass for a Goo aftershow, but I found out from security that there had only been a preshow. We left and ended up getting stopped to let the tour bus exit! We were behind them all the way home. The bus got off at an exit in Lexington and went to a Texaco station, where we stopped too. I went in to buy a coke and whatnot, and Johnny was looking at the newspaper w/ his pic, buying canned foods, etc. I wasn't going to bother him till Amy (hi!) went back to him when he was breaking up a bag of ice and asked him to sign the paper. He signed mine as well and then we got our picture w/ him. He went to the restroom and when he came back out I asked him for another pic because the first had not turned out and he gladly put his arm around me and let my mom take the pic. We left and were behind them all the way to North Augusta(where I live) and when we got off at the exit we were surprised to see the bus did too! They stopped at ANOTHER gas station, throwing away the doughnut boxes they had bought at the Texaco, but we didn't go up there to the bus, we went on home. All in all, the ABSOLUTELY BEST night of my life. One that I will definitely never forget. --If anyone read this far, thank you, once again, sorry so long-- ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 18:31:54 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Curly110@aol.com Subject: hey Message-ID: <0.687564a6.2558b76a@aol.com> hey...i mgiht be completely brain dead but does this page say what city the pix are taken at or not cause johns wearing the same shirt in these that he wore to the latrobe show...i can't get enough detail on the other one to see whether or not it the same out fit...here's the link The MP3.com Music and Technology Tour - Scrap... ~~Bon Bon ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 18:37:56 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: GooGooDolIs@aol.com Subject: Kinda off topic but hey... read it man :) Message-ID: <0.113ea9f9.2558b8d4@aol.com> I just wanted to say that MP3 did a great job picking the bands for the MP3 tour. They are another reason to go see an MP3 show if you haven't already, of course the other reason and more important reason being the one and only Goo Goo Dolls!! P.S.
