At this point, I don't really care if I get flamed, but I want to back up what you said (and yes, this is meant for the entire list). Pardon me if this seems non-goo, but I feel it needs to be reiterated. I, myself, am 25...maybe a surprise to some of you, maybe not...but it bothers me that some of you 'OLD FARTS' feel this way about the younger people on this list...proably just the same as if I were 15 or so. Are you guys forgetting that 'teenyboppers', as you put it, are a big reason why the Goos are successful in the first place? How selfish it is for you to assume that this list belongs to a certain age group. I, for one, have met a lot of the 'young' ppl on this list, and I can tell you-straight from the heart-that they are not only true Goo fans, but ppl worthy of your respect and dignaty. After all, how many young ppl stray from liking the boy-bands, Brittany Spears, and the like? JR said so himself, and seems to be rather proud that he is reaching across the age barriers and getting through to the younger generations...they are, after all, our future. For someone to like the Goos music, ESPECIALLY at such a young age, shows some kind of depth and character...for the Goos music is just about as deep as you can go. Another thing, you all were once teenagers too, and would it suffice me to say you were once full of energy and raging horomones as well? And all these teenagers will someday be in their 30's and 40's too...I'd hate to see them become bitter and resentful to the generations below them because of the examples YOUR setting. It enrages me that ppl of your AGE and WISDOM can make wisecracks at everyone elses' expense...have you forgotten that they bleed too? Talk about your Karma...LOL *Flame Away* ~Traci~ >From: DizzyEyes@aol.com >Reply-To: goo@mailinglists.org >To: goo@mailinglists.org >Subject: [goo] [GGD] Age and Stuff >Date: Fri, 1 Oct 1999 19:24:17 EDT > >Kay, y know, this really pisses me off. Although his heart remains in that place of modest means... he has since gone on to big and better things Yes, his footprints lie along the paths of the broken and the weary... but his soul flies high where Angels sing And others trace those footsteps on that road to hope and glory... only to find out, it isn't what it seems Because dreamers are dreamers, but heros are different things... and with every soul that he touches, so shall he fly high with Angels' wings. Now you might say he's just a boy from Buffalo... but he's much more than that to me He made me feel alive again... he taught me how to see © ~Thank You Johnny~ With Love and Admiration, Traci D. I have seen children her age at the shows but, you should try to get to a venue that is seated. When it is General Admission its hard for the kids cause everyone is crowded together, unless she is fortunate enough to have someone put her on their shoulders. Good luck and I hope if you do go you guys have a great time!!!!!! Message-ID: <19991003031445.65999.qmail@hotmail.com> Ok... I have been to both types of shows... seated and general admission. The show at the Jacksonville Naval Air Station was gen admiss. It was no place for a kid. Heck, it was no place for me. If you are taking a kid to a gen admiss show... I would go as far back as possible. In Jax, some little 6 year old's Mom pushed him up to the second row of people before the concert even started. When the crowds started pushing and shoving, I took him in front of me so that he wouldn't be crushed against the railing. The Mom got out and me and this other girl were left with this little kid. It got too violent and I picked him up for security to get him outta there. I stayed for Sugar Ray, and then the Dolls came on and it got horrible. The girl next to me passed out cause she was being pushed against the rail so bad it knocked the wind out of her. I left during Dizzy, not on my decision though. Some girl got picked up and her spiked heel hit me in the head and I started to pass out and fall... someone saw me and hoisted me out of there... so, my opinion... if it is gen admiss, leave the kid home, or go as far away from the crowd as possible. Otherwise... the concerts are peachy keen... Apology Message-ID: For all on the Goo list, I sincerely apologize for the multiple postings last night. Those messages regarding the Morehead and Louisville shows were supposed to be private to a single individual. As a matter of fact, the Louisville review has been kept private since May and was to have never been posted to any site or list. I was very upset that it was, and also upset that I got alot of flack for the multiples when it wasnt my fault. I would have simply replied to that individual, except that her addy was not included in the heading, only the Goo list addy. So, in replying to her message, it went out to the whole list. Combine that with a server problem, and well......you guys saw the results! Again, sorry to fill your boxes with reviews that alot of you read a long long time ago. The individual I was writing to is new to the list and was interested in taking her 5 year old to a show, so I thought it would be wise for her to read what happened with Jared and the Goos. If so, and you want to stand up and be counted, send me a note: Where you're coming from, which shows, if you've figured out where you're gonna stay, preferred brand of rum, and so on. It really doesn't matter to me and I don't understand why it's such a big deal if you're 30 or 13. All that matters is if you're a real Goo Goo Dolls fan. I've been a fan since I was nine and I'm sixteen now. I don't want to be categorized as something because I'm sixteen and I don't think it's fair to judge anyone on this list because of their age. I don't think that the younger people here care how old the so-called "old farts" are, so quit talking about it. Half of my mail is "HI, I'm an old fart, too. I like the list, but there are some teenyboppers who ask stupid questions and post way too much." I really don't care if you people want to classify me as a teenybopper, despite the fact that you know nothing about me, and never will because you have a bad case of Holier-Than-Though Complex. But I do care that I have to go through seventy-five mails that were never supposed to be sent to me (hint: CUT AND PASTE) that are insulting to me.
