Message-ID: <19991102033350.14501.qmail@hotmail.com> Hey people! I hope everyone had a happy and safe Halloween, I know I did! I went to the Halloween concert last night in Atlanta and it was the best concert I've ever been to. I have to tell you guys about the Goos costumes, you'll all get a kick out of it! Robby's was far and away the best and most creative - for Dizzy they all come running out you know and you see this huge cardboard contraption where you think Robby should be and then you realize - Robby is dressed up like a PEZ dispenser! He had a cutout for his face that had a screen over it and his nose was pressed up against it, it was hysterical! He was a Batman PEZ dispenser and having the hardest time playing bass like that! I think after LWD, he lost the costume and had these pajamas on under it - so cute! I knew Jonny's costume beforehand but I can't believe he actually went through with it - he had on a JFK plastic head mask (the kind that goes over your head, not like the face with a string in the back, know what I mean) and the mask had a bullet hole in the back of the head. Johnny had an entry wound glued onto his neck and fake blood down his neck and chest - he had on the same outfit he wore on the American Music Awards. He explained later that he was JFK 15 minutes after he died - when he said it, it was really funny but I can't believe he wore that - or that they even made a costume like that! lol The mask didn't last too long either because as Johnny said, he was sweating like "a hooker in church." Nathan was a cowboy, Mike was Frankenstein with just a big green face mask and Dave was finally the Grinch! He had on Grinch socks and black pants, a green shirt with a stuffed stomach to look fat and his face was painted just like the Grinch - it was great! They were so funny and energetic, it was crazy! Robby kept running off one side of the stage and showing up on the other trying to scare Johnny and the crowd! I was front row right between John and Robby and I've never had such a good time at a Goo show. They were telling all sorts of jokes, I can't even remember them all but it was a small crowd, about 1000 people, in a hotel ballroom with the barricade pretty low and about 3 feet from the stage - we were so close and there was hardly any pushing or anything like that, just a little crowded. Cameras were allowed and I took so many pictures because they were all dressed up and I was so close! The only thing is that they had to cut out There You Are, Bulletproof, Hate this Place, and Two Days in February (Whats the Deal???) because they were running out of time towards the end from all the talking and stuff they did. The first 3 songs I named were already taped over on the setlists but I didn't expect them to cut out 2 Days but they had to be done by 11pm because it was in a hotel, you know? The show rocked and I left out A LOT but this a good representation of the night - I wish I could re-live it! lauren ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 1 Nov 1999 23:05:47 EST To: goo@mailinglists.org From: Dyzzichick@aol.com Subject: @ goo concerts... The charity idea would be great, the Goos would definitly do it. The only problem I have is the I'm on the west coast (California), and although I would LOVE to travel anywhere for this concert, I can't. I have no $$ for any air travel (or any travel for that matter) and would barely have enough $$ to buy a ticket to see the show. I was thinking maybe having two shows: one for the people on the eastern side of the US, another for people on the western side. Just a thought.... What do you think? If $$ wasn't the problem with me I would go almost *anywhere* to see the Goos with fellow list members. Maybe you guys could take pictures for me????.... Whatever the case, I'm willing to help out with anything, even if I myself can't go to the concert. Good luck to all of you. The Goos should be so lucky to have fans like us!! Message-ID: <19991102175319.87407.qmail@hotmail.com> Hi guys! I just want to add my two cents - there is no way the Goos are going to agree with doing this "list concert." First of all, can you imagine how many people would be lurking around the venue, all trying to meet them or get pictures with them? Everyone is a monster fan and would want to find them and give them presents or letters or get autographs - there would be major security problems. The Goos wouldn't even be able to wander around at all without getting swarmed by people. And every person in the crowd at the show would want to be up front because everyone would be huge fans! That cannot be safe but thats just my opinion. I do think it would be great to have a special concert just for us list members but its just not practical - flame me if you must but I'm just stating my opinion and meant no harm to anyone - just offering a different view point! I am not saying its impossible , but you would have to do alot , like first of all someone (maybe with connections) needs to get ahold of waner bros and find out if it would even be possible. Connections is a great thing!!!! About how many people are on the list??? You would need to get person or persons involved who has "clout" or famous people. What about a Goo convention-concert????? Do the Goos even know about the List??? Oh well I am not tring to say I know it all , I was just thinking about all of this and this is what came to my mind!!! It would be a fantastic thing if it happened!!!! By the way I am from Columbus ohio and I would go anywhere for this!!! Give it a shot!! BUT...(PLEASE READ) Message-ID: <0.cd27328c.25506580@aol.com> ok, i'm in San Diego, CA. i am TOTALLY willing to fly anywhere, and save up enough money for a plane ticket and a hotel room. BUT...**BUT**...i am very worried that my parents will be totally opposed to the idea. I am 17, and i begged and begged for them to let me fly up to just northern california...that's in the same state even! and they wouldn't let me, even though it was on a weekend, and i would pay for everything myself, icluding a ticket and stuff for whoever would go with me. but for some reason they still wouldn't let me. i'm sure i'm not the only one who would have this problem. i know a lot of people on this list are under 18 and their parents just don't understand how much we're willing to do to see our goos. i'm not trying to totally crash the idea of a private goo concert for list members only, don't get me wrong, that is THE MOST AWESOME IDEA EVER!!! but i'm just trying to point out the things people may not have thought of that would make it unfair and very dissappointing for some people. another drawback is that some people simply *don't have the money* to spend on plane tickets and hotel, no matter how badly they want to go. i suppose some very nice person might want to take in 20 people for the night at their house, if they live around where the concert would be, but there's still the plane ticket. please respond if anyone has any ideas to fix these overlooked points, and THEN we can start actually trying to get a concert coordinated. i just really don't want anyone to be left out on this. thanx :) -diana ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 02 Nov 1999 16:46:22 GMT To: mistyblueangel@angelfire.com, lac_des_cygnes@yahoo.com, goo@mailinglists.org From: "Oh Tara" Subject: Re: [GOO] Review of Temple Concert Message-ID: <19991102164622.47801.qmail@hotmail.com> Whatever happend to the days when you only saw Mosh Pits at Metal and HeardCore Punk shows? I think this whole concert idea is a great one! I particularly like the charity aspect of it. I was talking to another Goo pal of mine (we're both social workers and work with kids) and we thought it would be great if we all brought something to the show besides money. Maybe a toy or some clothes for the kids? Someone on the list mentioned that they are the vice president of a charitable organization that works with orphaned kids. I think it would be great if we donated the proceeds to this organization and maybe donated some toys to these kids as well. My friend and I have both worked with this population and we know how hard the holidays can be for these kids. I don't know who started this whole thing, but I think it's a great opportunity to make a difference and to see a kickass Goo show at the same time. I'm sure if we all band together, we can make it happen. Count me in. These guys have been on the road for over 14 months now, several more before they're done. They have busted their backs for everyone, to put on a wonderful, unforgetable tour. This is a job, a career to them. And it's a damn hard one. My god, if you're really fans, please, let them rest. This is insane. That's it, my one post ever. Go ahead and flame me or whatever. Message-ID: <0.5279bc1b.25507f37@aol.com> I agree. I haven't been online in a few days and I had a friend go on for me and delete all my e-mails that weren't letters from friends or family. I don't even know who came up with this idea, or even a ton about it. But I do know some musicians who, while on tour, are lucky if they get an hour of sleep every 48 hours. I feel bad for musicians and they tell me as much as they love being on tour and all, they get sick of it after a few months, never sleeping or having any time to themselves, give 'em a break! -Jill ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 12:54:13 EST To: Alohafer@aol.com, goo@mailinglists.org From: Kirbyq@aol.com Subject: Re: [GOO] Regarding Private Concert: Please stop! I mean this will be really a big thing for the people to put together. But I mean yes I understand the boys have been on tour for the past year and a half but it's not like we're like "YOU HAVE to do this concert". THey have every right to say "we're been on tour for over a year and want a break". If every venue was saying "oh they've been on tour for the past year and a half, lets give them a break and not book them" don't yah think they wouldn't tour. They are in this business b/c they want to be. Even John said, "I love to entertain". Sorry..I don't mean to flame...but touring is what comes with the business. kerri ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 2 Nov 1999 10:10:22 -0800 (PST) To: Alohafer@aol.com, goo@mailinglists.org From: Laurel Butler Subject: Re: [GOO] Regarding Private Concert: Please stop! We all understand your point, about them needing to rest. It isn't the point to try & make them do it in the middle of a hectic schedule, just something in the future. It could & may happen. I have planned these things in a local area several times(My husband was in a very popular Atanta -based band & I did charity fundraisers for them several times) I also did marketing for a movie theatre for 2 years, i know how to make all the necessary phone calls. anyway.....nobody will "flame" you for expressing concern for the guys!! We all want the best for them. ~R~ Alohafer@aol.com wrote: I have been on this forever and never posted, but I wanted to interject one thing into the millions of posts on this subject. They have private lives, families, other things to do, plus they need to actually rest for god's sake. Sorry it has taken so long to send the atlanta review & Stephanie's review was very accurate. I think Dave & Robby were in tie for who had the best costume. I have great pics from the front row. I was direct in front of Johnny & towards Nathans side. E-mail me if you want pics!!!!!!!!!! The jokes he told were the "Ricky Martin" joke & "Father Nelson"(which was hilarious & kind of racey, so I don't think he tells it to regular crowds, ~this was an 18 & up only show). He also told lots of jokes about Kennedy whenever he put the mask on. Someone threw a boxing nun doll on stage & he put it on & was telling catholic jokes from when he was in catholic school as a child. It was very cute. he also was introducing the band & he got to Nathan & he said he was "joe perry" from Aerosmith & the whole band began playing "walk this way". He said "stop it (realy loud) & said he hated aerosmith, at least after 1980!" As he was trying to talk the whole band kept trying to play it again & he was getting mad(as a joke, of course). It was a wonderful night all around. If anyone wants to k ow either of those jokes, let me know!!!!! (you really need pictorials for the father nelson joke though...too funny!!!!) Now.....I also have "meeting the band" stories!! This is long,k, so be prepared(but, it's all good!): my friend shana & I were staying the night at the hotel they were playing at, so we got to the hotel at about 12:30. of course our room wasn't ready because check in wasn't until 3, so we sat in the lobby to wait. the girl checking us in asked if we were there for the concert & we said yes & she was talking about the band & all. so, she knew we were excited. We decided to walk around & look at the ballroom where they would be playing. We talked to a guy who was setting up the stage & he said the dolls were already there & Would be doing soundcheck at 4pm. as we were going down the elevator, we noticed someone in front of us at the bottom of the stairs & as he turned around, we saw it was Mike. So shocked were we, that I almost swallowed my gum. LOL!! Shana just burst out laughung as I was choking & Mike was just looking at us as if we were crazy!!! He went on outside the hotel & walked across the street(There is a huge mall there....he was going shopping). We sat down in the lobby to await our room when the girl caLLED US & SAID SHE WAS GIVING US THE FIRST ROOM AVAILABLE. (sorry for the caps). A very nice bell boy asked if we needed help w/our luggage & took us up to our room. We were on the 18th floor!!!! As we were getting off of the elevator we heard some people talking & as the doors opened we saw a cute oriental girl & as it dawned on us who it was(Robby's girlfriendm Mioko~~we had met her 2 times previously at other shows & she was really nice to us), we looked to the rt & there was Robby!! We were so shocked we just looked & kept on walking. What!! They couldn't actually be on that floor, must have been meeting the guy they were talking to. After the bell boy left the room we just started screaming & jumping on the bed!!!!! ( I felt 15 again!! LOL) We changed & decided to walk over to the mall & get some food. As we got off of the elevator, there was mike in the lobby, going jogging now. He said hey & waved>(probably didn't want to do the heimlich(SP?) maneuvre if I choked again!! LOL)We went around to the rest. in the hotel to check out the menu....WAY too expensive & we went back into the lobby to go to the mall & eat in the "cheap" foodcourt!! As we walked around the corner, shana grabbed me & pulled me back around another corner. She was almost pale & said, "oh my god, there he is, did you see him??" I said who...cuz I had seen nobody!! (She LOVES Johnny!!!) Well, standing on the stairs in the lobby was Johnny talking to some guy!! She was very nervous, but I knew this may be our only chance all day!! I grabbed her & said come on!! I walked up to him & said " I am so sorry to interrupt, but I just wanted to say hello & I am so excited to see the show tonight." HE SMILED(AAAGH!!!) and said "well, I don't believe I know you, I'm Johnny" (as If I didn't know!!!!)and shook my hand. He then looked over at shana, who was creeping around the corner & looking very shy.....he said"and, I don't think i know you either, but I think I'm getting ready to meet you" and shook her hand. He asked her name & then mine, & when I said Roxxanne, he began singing(roxxanne). Cute!! I then asked him if he knew where dave was b/c I had something to give him from his old roomate in Buffalo(she's a friend of mine). He said no & to give it to the frontdesk. I asked if he could give it to him & he said "NO way man, i'm not taking responsibility for anything that belongs to someone else...i'll loose it or forget & you'll be pissed at me!"(NEVER!!LOL). The guy with him saw our cameras & asked if we wanted a quick picture. We said yea & went over to get with John. He draped an arm around each of us & saw I had money in my hand(I was trying to find our bell boy to get his tip to him). He said "good, you each have a $10 for me, right??" I said "no way, that's for later when you give us a table dance...(this is another story from another show, if anyone's intested, i'll tell ya laTER!!!) He laughed & said "hey, for $10 bucks each i'll give ya a table dance" I said well, I have a 20....what do i GET FOR THAT? He laughed & said, "well, for $20 each, I'll give ya a full frontal nudity shot". I then laughed & said I also have a hundred...what for that, he said "shit, for a hundred, lets go up to my room & NO, nevermind, I'm getting into trouble here!!" We laughed & were wALKING AWAY & WE TURNED & SAID THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE PICS & HE SAID, "NO LADIES, THANK YOU!!!!" he is so nice to his fans!! God, We love him!!!!!!!!!!!! we immediately went to the mall to get them developed & eat. We went back to the hotel afterwards & were in our room When we decided to go back to the mall pick up the pics. as we were waiting for the elevator, you will never guess who go t off on our floor.....yep!! Robby & mioko.
