Goo Autographed 8x10 Contest #1 - Best Cover

view enlarged version
The World of Goo is proud to present you with FIVE, that's right, five authentic autographed 8x10 photos of the Goo Goo Dolls. Each is genuinely autographed by Guitarist/Vocalist John Rzeznik, bassist/vocalist Robby Takac, and drummer Mike Malinin. These photos are in MINT condition and were personally given to the World of Goo's current main updater (me) Mike Cardosa by Robby Takac himself on March 9th, 2001. Robby's such a nice guy, isn't he?

Contest Number One: Best Goo Cover: This is a contest to see who can record the best cover of a Goo song. I know there are plenty of you out there who can play guitar, and now is the time to show off what you've got! The winner with the best cover will receive ONE Autographed 8x10 of the Goo Goo Dolls(pictured)!

Here are the only restrictions: it has to be a song from Superstar Carwash or a later release. (ex: It can't be a song from the first release, but it CAN be Lazy Eye or Naked. This includes all albums and songs after and including Superstar Carwash.)

All things will be taken into consideration when the songs are being judged: the difficulty of the song, the voice(you don't have to sing if you don't want to, but you could score better), the number of parts being recorded, the overall presentation of the music, etc.

To qualify your entry, you must send the whole song to [email protected] as an attachment(an MP3 file, a WAV file, or another standard sound format).

Very Important: If you choose to do the vocals in your song, you must replace the very first lyric of the song with the word "Goo" to prove that you recorded the song for this sole purpose. The rest of the lyrics are unchanged; it is ONLY the very first word in the song. This is to ensure that everyone is at a level playing field, and that no one has an unfair advantage. (For example, in Slide, the first line would be, "Goo you whisper in my ear," leaving out "Could"; in Broadway it would be "Goo is dark tonight," leaving out "Broadway".) If you choose not to include the vocals, you won't have to change anything about the way the song is played(except you might score lower without the vocals).

This Contest will end in two weeks - on Sunday, March 25th. The winner will be chosen the week of March 25th and will be notified via email. Also, the winner has a possibility of having the Goo Goo Dolls listen to his/her recording and receiving comments about it.

Good luck to all, and have fun recording!
