Memories of July 4, 2004

That 4th of July is a day I will never forget.
I am so glad I brought my family with me, even
though we got separated right before the show.
I am so glad that I was able to meet up with my
Goo friends that day that made the show even
more memorable for me.  Charisma and I were
standing in only God knows what.  The trash from
the even the day before had clogged the drains so
we just kept getting deeper and deeper in water.
We watched shoes, backpacks, jackets and umbrellas
float right by us like we were standing in a river.
So it was the best show I have ever been to.
I am so looking forward to seeing it all over again on
the DVD.  My memory is crystal clear of the event. I
made mental notes that night to never forget any of
 it.

Thanks to the Goo's for giving us " A Night To Remember "
Thanks to the Goo Fans that  basically said WTF with
the band and just made the best out of it.
I know Buffalo fans are nuts...there is no doubt about
that. Take a peek at a winter Buffalo Bills game to    confirm that.
I know there were many fans that drove and flew in  from different states to be there.  Kudos to those fans as well.  Goo fans are as real as it gets!

 Love to you all!

I met up with some wog folks. It's always great seeing them. We tried to get a good spot. The crowd was horrible. I wish they would have charged something, even $5 for the show to weed out some of the yuck that showed up. I smelled pot everywhere.  There were some really cool folks there too please don't get me wrong but the nasty ones tend to stand out more in my mind. Anyhow the rain added that "Woodstock" feel to the show. It was like we were breaking all the rules to see the band we love. I truly enjoyed it. I lost my husband and son before the show even started. But later found them at the car..yeah! I have grown fond of them so it was nice to see them again. The fireworks were really cool. Especially the fireworks I took back to the hotel in my eyes, hair and clothes. NOT JOKING! I had to take a shower right away when I got to the hotel because I smelled like I swam in a canal. I don't want to know what I was standing in. The girl behind me said to her friend - "Do you think it would be okay if I went pee in my pants since I am already wet?" I turned around and said " NO IT WOULD NOT BE OKAY, but if I get cold I will tell you to go ahead." They laughed. But I did feel a warm stream..just kidding!
The crowd was not at all a normal goo show crowd. They were so drunk , high and totally out of it that they were actually body surfing during Sympathy. Give me a freakin break. It was not a Metallica Concert...no offense to Metallica fans but that tends to attract some wild groups like those at the show last night. The guy on the flag pole was great. It just showed that all caution had been thrown to the wind. It was fun! The DVD will allow all those that couldn't make it to get a better view than most of us. You don't  have to deal with the morons in the crowd. I promise you will not get wet and you will not have to deal with the smell. Oh, did I mention the smell? Thousands of hot sweaty people drinking oh my gosh....I can still smell it. Well I am going to try to post my pictures. They are from far away and they are not great. Kudos to those that got good pictures. I got a pic of people standing in the water, you will not believe the water. After the show my family and I went to check into the Adam's Mark...squish...squish..squish was the lovely sound coming from our loud wet shoes.  My mom uses a cane and she almost fell in the revolving door because she was too slow. Now I have a cruel sense of humor so I found that all too funny. But we made it up to the room so I was able to wash that crowd out of my hair. I have dye all over my hands and arms. I am hoping that is from the crepe paper confetti that shot up. It's strange looking. I think I may have a goo rash??? Hmmm? Oh well it's just another reminder. Glad I got to experience such a wacky time with other Woggers! Last night I started loosing my voice and today it's totally gone. My husband is loving it. Perhaps it's a make up gift since I lost him at the show...ha ha!

Yes indeed it was a "night to remember" and soon enough we will have a DVD to watch anytime to relive those moments.

Goochick,

Thanks for reminding me... I have tried to put those drunk fools out of my mind.

There were fans that stayed to support the band.

The drunk assholes were more of a problem before the show started and right up until the rain came.

Those assholes are the reason I lost my husband and my son.

When the floods came I think the drunks and non-goo fans bolted. So at that point when the real fun started we didn't have to deal with them.

I think there were a lot of non-goo fans there at the begining.

It was a drinking holiday, free concert and it was going to be filmed for a DVD.

I think all that stuff brought out all kinds of people.

The fans are the people that stayed. They are what made it so special.

The drunks were really bringing me down, they were just nasty.  People drinking all day in the hot sun can only lead to problems.

So I am glad the rain washed them out.

For those who stayed....and I haven't heard of one Goo fan that left the show when the rain started...they rocked.  The parking garage was filled with hundreds of folks that probably would have enjoyed any free show. But the folks that surrounded us were true fans!

I am guessing here but I doubt they captured the drunk fools on the DVD...so it's good times from here on out.

I was also at the private show which was great , just poorly organized by Buffalo Place. There was a bit of confusion going on before the show.

Silvergirl,

I am so sorry about your rib. I have never witnessed anything like that stuff at a Goo Goo Dolls show in my life. I am glad the shows we normally attend are just Goo fans. I am looking forward to seeing them in California this NYE. Now if it was a free show in Hollywood that would be a totally different thing all together. I am thinking the folks that went through all that hassle of getting tickets to the NYE Shows are really fans and want to have a good time. Hopefully no body surfing...hey we can't afford the injuries. If someone decides to do that just drop them, don't hold them up unless you really feel like having their foot kick your head. Let's keep it on the ground folks. No injuries this time  Wink
