You can hear John mumbling some lyrics/melody during "We Are The Normal" and they don't sound like the ones in the final song. It's really quiet so I can't make them out, though.

Lyrics... differences in red, comments in green

Dont Worry About Today

Wading forward through the hours
Left my house by noon today, and I saw you standing there
No one spoke, but we both listened
Heard every word you didn't say
Dont worry about to day

And the sun shines all around us
Smells like summer's on the way, and I saw you standing there
Tell the story of a lifetime
Tomorrow brings a brand new day

Don't worry 'bout today, and the words that you said
Don't worry 'bout today, shake the world from your head
Least for a while

I hear the days keep getting longer
But my nights seem longer still, and my TV's off the air
Watching repeats on my ceiling
Another hour left to kill

Don't worry 'bout today, and the words that you said
Don't worry 'bout today, shake the world from your head
Dont worry bout today, shake the world from your head
Least for a while

Domino

Domino
If you never had it then
You don't know how bad it is
Having nothing, like it well
Needless talk then, I can tell
Here comes the day, I sit and wait
Oh, its always something      (Dominoes are falling still)
The bills keep coming, the car ain't running
Now I'm running home again      (As I know they always will)
Another day, oh, the mailman's on his way
Just sit and wait      (Dominoes a test of will)
Always pondering my fate too late
Another day goes      (Domino)

I borrowed from you yesterday
Lent a bunch to you last May
No one minds I can tell
Seems I've picked the wrong seashell, but
Here comes the day, I sit and wait
Oh its always something      (Dominoes are falling still)
The bills keep coming, the car ain't running
Now I'm running home again      (As I know they always will)
Another day, the mailman's on his way
Just sit and wait      (Dominoes a test of will)
Always pondering my fate too late
Another day goes      (Domino)

Awwww, awwwww, awww, awww

On the Lie

He burnt down a house one night
He had a loaded six-pack gun
He said that Jesus Christ was just like a cop
You know, you never know when they'll come

She said every day above ground
Was another dream come true
He said I'd hang and swap clichs all night (Robby and John)
But I'm not in love with you

And I never got serious
'Til everything went black
And I ain't so curious
That I'm ever going back

On the lie
On the lie
On the lie
On the lie

He said that you want to be Elvis
I said I ain't dying face down
He said you've got to die facing up in the world
'Cause there's too many holes around

He asked what was wrong with me
He said I looked like a Hollywood girl
I said that Hollywoods a joke and you know it man
'Cause it's the ugliest place in the whole wide world

And he never got serious
'Til everything went black
And I ain't so curious
That I'm ever going back

And in his room at night, those Polaroids hes stare
Its just some crazy dream, I didnt know or care (I didnt know Id care?)
And I must admit outloud, I thought theyd die by now
And for this old mans sake, Id make it through somehow

On the lie, he was
On the lie
On the lie
On the lie
It's all been a stinkin' lie

Second Time Around

Happy, smilin', cryin' outburst to my past
I guess those stormy gray skies simply couldn't last
And now I find myself a-tugging at your dress
The fun of holding you down, or seein' you frown, it's never gonna pass

Somewhere there's a place a soul can never go
I feel it in my head like a thought youll never know
All our postcards full of things I won't forget
And now it's coming down, all coming round, its all I ever get

Another second time around I've been runnin' from ya
Another second time around
Another second, one more second time Im runnin from ya
Another second time around

Woulda (Woundnt?) help myself
I felt like everything was gonna pass
It was an awkward time
I hoped it couldn't, hoped it wouldn't last

OMG CRAZY CYMBALS!!

Another second time around I've been runnin' from ya
Another second time around
Another second, one more second time I waited for ya
Another second time around
Another second time around
Another second time around

Already There

I look outside my window
Everything was blanketed in white
The neighbors pushing cars out
From snow that fell on us last night
Started thinking 'bout
The things we used to do when we were young
Back when things were simple
And getting up was fun

I couldn't care, 'cause I'm already there
I'm already there, I'm already there

Turn around and face the clock
I'd sit and watch, as time went hoppin' by
I'm still growing up
My friends are growing old before my eyes
Count the stars above
Wonder when the heavens will subside
Knowing our two worlds
Will someday just collide

I couldn't care, 'cause I'm already there.
I'm already there, I'm already there, oh

Just a boy who's young at heart
His smile was a bit like yours today
Had a wife, a kid, some strife
Never had to go astray
Happiness abounds?
Life was in full swing
At 17, all the things he wanted
Were things he'd never seen

It don't seem fair, cuz I'm already there
I'm already there, I'm already there, oh

Last message was too long.... Apparently, Drew, you should have made two blank posts....

Fallin' Down is the same

Close Your Eyes

I wish I had a saxophone
I'd play the blues 'til you came home
With a little sadness in your eye
Now that all my time was spent
In you walk, youre heaven sent
Thinking 'bout all the nights you cried

Had a certain passion
And I had surly dreams
All of those vicious actions
Don't close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Eyes to me

I wish I had a camera lens
To film the things my mind had said
Before they reached my mouth and got all bent
Looking at the skies of blue
All day long I think of you
Even after all the shit we've been through

Had a certain passion
And I had surly dreams
All of those vicious actions
Don't close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Eyes to me

Close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Close your eyes to me
Eyes to me

Right Next To Me

You changed my face, I think I like it better now
It doesn't matter anyhow, 'cause that's the way it is
You said hello and where the hell you been?
I said I feel like I've been off to war, and I may never be the same again

I made my bed, but now I can't sleep at night
Cuz you toss and you turn and you know, you know it ain't right
I'd love to beg, see, but I'm just too proud
And I don't even know what to say, so I'm thinking out loud

And when you dream 17
I ain't there, so I don't care
'Cause all my dreams, I'm 23
And she's the girl right next to me

See the girl right next to me
I lie in my bed, its running through my head
Going over and over and over, the things that you said
I'm caught in the trap, I'll run like hell right back to you
'Cause I'm sober with you and you know it beats drinking alone

And when you dream 17
And I ain't there, so I don't care
'Cause all my dreams, I'm 23
And she's the girl right next to me
See that girl right next to me

And when you dream 17
And I ain't there, so I don't care
'Cause all my dreams, I'm 23
And see the girl right next to me
See that girl right next to me

And when you dream 17
I ain't there, so I don't care
'Cause all my dreams, I'm 23
And see the girl right next to me
See the girl right next to me
See that girl right next to me
Shes that girl right next to me

No major changes. However, from this demo and even the final song, I'm convinced that sometime's he's saying "lyin' next to me" instead of "right next to me". Live, it's always "right next to me", but I can sometimes hear an extra syllable in the recorded versions. Anyone else hear it?

Youre Gone

You whispered in my mouth
And I spit your words right back
How good do you think I look
When the words start to break and crack

You beat your head upon your wall
You disconnect yourself from it all
'Cause you know that you're so beautiful and so untouchable
And I want to get in so bad, and I don't know how
I don't know how

'Cause you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and you ain't coming back

You held your hand so close
And I just can't push you away
I wished you could be my girl
But you're stuck in a grown-up world

You beat your head upon your wall
You disconnect yourself from it all
Well you know that you're so beautiful and so untouchable
And I want to get in so bad, and I don't know how
I don't know how

'Cause you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and you ain't coming back

You beat your head upon your wall
You disconnect yourself from it all
'Cause you know that you're so beautiful and so untouchable
And I want to get in so bad, and I don't know how
I don't know how

'Cause you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and you ain't coming back
Yeah you're gone, and I wish you'd come back

And then the new ones...These are my versions, they are in no way confirmed by anyone but me.  I encourage corrections or opinions

In Your Blood

Help me, help me to forget
Another day's mistake
I'd love to feel you (drift away?  dripping wet?)
I'd love to feel you shake

I'd love to feel you dancing here
I'd love to see you cry
I'd love to see you dance for me
I'd love to see you try

'Cause I'm dancing in your blood
I'm dancing in your blood
Dancing in your blood
'Cause I'm dancing in your blood
I'm dancing in your blood
Dancing in your blood

Help me, help me to recall
The reasons that I'm here
I'd love to see you dance
Without nothing in the mirror (I swear that's what it says.  I swear)

I'd love to feel you pirouette
I'd love to see you shake
Help me, help me to forget
Another day's mistake

'Cause I'm dancing in your blood
I'm dancing in your blood
Dancing in your blood
'Cause I'm dancing in your blood
I'm dancing in your blood
Dancing in your blood

I'd love to feel you dance with me
I'd love to see you try
I'd love to see you dance with me
The way you do inside (deep inside?)

And I stay there
Cuz it's okay there
And I stay there
Cuz it's okay there

In my blood x6

So The Story Goes

Right when I've found everything
And nothing can go wrong
There comes a time the sparrow's
Gotta sing a brand new song
Walk down to the corner store
To get some freezy pops
Thinking maybe red or blue or anything they've got

Oh so the story goes x3
Oh, and it never ends the same

[Leaning on the milk box?  What's a milk box?]
I've got nothing on my mind
Nothing but the sour taste
Of last night's cherry wine
I don't want to preach
But it's cheaper by the pound
I just thought I'd let you know
It's something that I've found

Oh so the story goes x3
And it never stays the same

Oh so the story goes x3
And it never ends the same

Because I have to do everything, right? ::)

I totally forgot it... let me see if I can dig it up from the old thread.

Tell Me

Well the grass is so green
On the other side of town
And the kids are so mean
When there ain't no one around.
'Cause I need some kinda way to make it right
And I see that it won't happen overnight

Is a dollar and a dream all they've really got for me?

Well how much can I take?
Well I can't take no more.
 Gonna hold myself up
And I walk out the door.
So tell me why I get no sleep at night
And I see, aw, that something just ain't right

Is a dollar and a dream all they've really got for me?

You can tell me,
Tell me something I don't know
Aw tell me,
Tell me something I don't know
Yeah tell me,
Tell me something I don't know
Make it fast, so I can go
Aw, tell me, tell me somethin' I don't know.

What do you think of me now?
Do I seem out of place?
Did the hurt in my eyes
Leave a stain on your face?
'Cause I need some kinda way to make it right
And I see that it won't happen overnight

Is a dollar and a dream all they've really got for me?

You can tell me,
Tell me something I don't know
Yeah tell me,
Tell me something I don't know
Yeah tell me,
Tell me something I don't know
Make it good, so I can go
Aw, tell me, tell me somethin' I don't know.

You can tell me, tell me somethin' I don't know
Yeah, tell me, tell me somethin' I don't know
Yeah, tell me, tell me somethin' I don't know
Yeah, tell me, tell me somethin' I don't know
Yeah, tell me...

The biggest learning experience was discovering how wrong some of the lyrics are on the WOG lyrics page! :D Add that to your list of stuff to fix.

YAY! More work to do. I can't wait *snark*

I did put in another email request to MFC today for the login info. I keep hoping we'll get that info soon. Poor MFC is doing the job of two people right now as her helper is on maternity leave. She's a little frazzled so I've been cutting her some slack. Especially after the nightmare of upgrading the entire forum site .... except ours. She had lots of debugging to do after that.

Are you serious about the search function?  It's right under the banner at the top.  I use it, like, daily.

And it was done quickly because I fully intended to go do non-fun stuff today, and then you made a lyrics request and my dad offered me free lunch and I just threw the whole day in the garbage.  :D

Yes. The 'search' button does exist. It's at the top between 'help' and 'members'. I use it everytime I post a new banner and need to look up who's next  ;)

A milk box is a metal container on the outside of a house in which the milkman would deposit milk, in glass bottles no less, for the family's weekly consumption.  As roads, cars and access to supermarkets improved, the milkman disappeared.  But I heard on the news this morning that he's making a comeback:

Brilliant! When I was growing up we had a milkman who delivered our milk in glass bottles. It was the best milk ever. And I didn't not grow up in a rural area. Then the poor dairy closed down and we had to start buying our milk and dairy products at the grocery store. It was devastating to our family who was used to pure non-hormone and non-antibiotic products .... *sigh* I still miss it. :(

I'm breaking the unspoken rule where you're not supposed to bump really old threads...

I've decided it's finally time to sift through my bootlegs and organize the setlists and stuff.  So I just put in a show where they are debuting SSCW songs and the lyrics are the ones from this demo reel instead of the final CD versions and I thought it was really really cool.

And I can confirm:

And in this room at night, those Polaroids hed stare
Its just some crazy dream, I didnt know or care
And I must admit out loud, I thought theyd die by now
And for this old mans sake, Id make it through somehow
