Carbon Leaf's Latest Album, "Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat" Is In Stores Today!

Carbon Leaf's Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat, the long-awaited follow-up to their 2004 label debut, Indian Summer, and seventh album, is set for release Sept. 12th. The album was recorded in Nashville with producer Peter Collins (Bon Jovi, Jewel, Lisa Loeb, Queensryche).

The band's songwriting and musicianship takes another great leap forward on this record with compelling new tunes. Barry Privett, singer/lyricist for the Richmond, VA based band, states the disc's eleven songs deal with "the unseen forces that drive our lives-the seasons of the year as well as the human cycle of love and loss, life and death, despair and hopeThe title sums up its bittersweet tone."

The first single, "Learn to Fly," includes a 12-string riff and organ sound that "suggests an old R.E.M. or Byrds tune," according to Privett. The musical complexity the band is known for is apparent throughout the new recording, but the approach is more direct, with touches like the Celtic lilt, hip-hop flavor and Privett's deadpan vocals in the title track, the understated tension of "The War Was in Color" or Gravatt's soaring mandolin in "Comfort," which celebrates the importance of friends, lovers and families in these troubled times.

Love, Loss, Hope, Repeat comes on the heels of the band's 2004 Vanguard debut, Indian Summer, which featured their Top 5 hit, "Life Less Ordinary." The band performed the single on The Dr. Phil Show closing an episode about aspiring musicians trying to get their break in the entertainment industry.

The band formed at Randolph-Macon College in Virginia, starting their own label, Constant Ivy, and releasing four albums-'95's Meander, '97's Shadows in the Banquet Hall, '99's Ether-Electrified Porch Music and '01's Echo Echo, which, sold more than 45,000 copies. In 2003, they released 5 Alive! a double CD packed with live tracks that bear the Carbon Leaf sound - tight, taut, and intense.

Carbon Leaf is known for their non-stop touring, playing over 300 shows a year. They will be on tour throughout the year and opening select dates for the Goo Goo Dolls, Los Lonely Boys, Blues Traveler and Kings of Leon.

Head over to the band's label's site, Vanguard Records, where you can stream a couple of their songs.

Carbon Leaf is guitar maven Carter Gravatt, bassist Jordan Medas, drummer Scott Milstead, guitarist Terry Clark, and vocalist Barry Privett.
