Title: New Album
Post by buffalowing43 on Jan 21st, 2005, 10:21am
Maybe i'm jumping to conclusions but its been over a week since GGD updated their GALB Journal...does anyone think that this means they have started on their new album? I reallly cant wait till it comes out and i wish i knew when they start(ed) recording and when it comes out

I think I remember Robby saying they were going to start recording some time in January but you never know what is actually going on. I'm not sure the GALB journal really has anything to do with whether they have started or not...there once was a time when they didn't write an update for like 4 months!

nah I doubt it will take that long. I think they only spent about a month in the studio for Gutterflower, so I think that gives them plenty of time for a 2005 release if they are recording now.

I really hope that this is NOT their last album.  I would die if it was!  Hopefully it will be out by the end of this year.  I can't wait much longer!  It's hard being a Goo fan and in such suspense....

I think John is gonna go solo. It may be the last album, but John will release his own stuff and personally, I think he might be more successful as a solo artist?

yeah this has to be their last album based on johnny and robby starting their production careeers and Johnny already trying out the solo stuff. I'm not really sure how successful Johnny would be solo. I'm sure he would be fairly successful based on the sound of "I'm Still Here". Its kinda funny how he used to be so pissed about the success of "Name" because he lost his punk image and his sound has changed so much since then (far from punk). I kinda remember them saying that they would release a DVD of all their music videos after they're final album and that would be really cool

LOL, you sound like one of my housemates. ::) He watched LIB the other day and groaned loudly whenever Robby sang, and told me that it's a shame John hadn't gone solo already, because he could be "really successful". I agree if he sticks to the "I'm Still Here" kind of sound, then he should do pretty well in America. Probably not here though, the majority has no taste. :P

If they DO release a DVD of all their music videos, that would be great though!! I'm sure there are a few I've never seen, and never in amazing quality - I think the only one I've not watched on a crappy internet connection is "Iris", and that's still rare enough for me to get very excited when I see it on TV. :nanner: :nanner:

Hell yeah! I remember waiting for Gutterflower, the suspense was KILLING me for about 5 months!! I reckon it'll be about as bad, if not worse, this time!! :P

I love the months leading up to the new album, like when you find out the name of the new album and what the new single will be called. I remember hearing here is gone for the first time, i had such high expectations and here is gone completely blew me away, its still my favourite song.
I couldnt stop listening to it

Personally i dont think i'd ever be as much of a fan of just john rzeznik as i am of the goo goo dolls. The only reason i even got into goo is because of robbys songs. Actually without robbys stuff i doubt i'd own more than one goo cd. but thats just me.

anyway, I cant wait for their new cd......!!! :D

I don't think this will be their last album, I'm holding out hope that it isn't. I remember when people were saying that about Gutterflower...

They're doing too well to just up and quit. Although I suppose we'll have to wait and see how the commercial success of the next album pans out. But I still don't think this'll be the end.

well gutterflower only went gold after dizzy up the girl went triple platinum and boy named goo went platinum (i think) so i get the sense that if the next album gets the same sales numbers as Gutterflower they might decide to hang it up. I personally don't want them to keep making albums if theyre laboring to reach gold status beacuase in a way it could tarnish their legacy as a band that kept playing even when they shouldnt have. Might as well go out on top.

i think this statement came out as more anti-goo than i meant it to be but i hope y'all knows what i mean

I hope this isn't their last album. But I fear it might be... :-/

Saz, your housemate is lucky that I'm not there! ;) My ex-boyfriend used to Robby-bash all the time...anytime I would play the Goos and he heard Robby sing he would ask me "So why don't they just get rid of that guy?"

Get rid of Robby?  :o How DARE he?! Sacrilege... >:(

I don't think he liked Robby's voice. I have no idea why...I think his voice is great. I guess some people just don't get it... ::)

I agree that a compilation of all their videos would be great...but at the cost of the band breaking up? I don't need the videos THAT bad!

Emily, I'm with you by the way...I'm a big fan of the rockier style of Robby's songs and I could see Rzeznik going more down the ballad kinda route...which I personally wouldn't like as much...Meh.

I really hope they make a 180 degree turn and write some more stuff in the style of the old records. I have nothing against the new ones, but I'd like to hear some good rock tunes, rather than acoustic ballads again.  Robby is one of the best bassists recording music today, and if he went, then the band wouldn't be the Goo Goo Dolls anymore.
