I am from

I am from a military family
change of scenery came every 3 years
Beautiful landscape replaced lost friends

I am from Albuquerque
my final destination

I am from a phone call from home
sad news to hear after class that afternoon
never to be forgotten

Mom's doctor check-up
came with bad news
Cancer was the verdict
what a way to end the year

I am from a summer with my mom
seemed normal nothing exciting
chemo and radiation
Not a summer vacation I wanted to have

I am from a phone call another spring day
I just walked in from an afternoon class
My dad gave the news that my mom had passed on

I am from a heartache
a struggle to continue

I am from the last I love you
I am from the strength my mother had
during her fight with this cancer

I am from the memories
I am from the kind words she gave
I am from the criticism
I am from the praise
I am from the love

I'm sorry for your loss. Your poem is a beautiful tribute to your mother.
