Title: Getting Re-acquainted
Post by PattyGoo on Sep 18th, 2009, 7:42pm
Hi Woggers,
I've been gone for an eternity... but like a bad penny, I turned up again.
What has everyone been up to?
Me: My oldest got married a couple weeks ago.  The wedding was fabulous!  And now I have a son-in-law.  He's a great guy, and a fun addition to my family.  And I have gone back to school to get my MBA.  I dumped my business after 19 years about 6 years ago and have been gainfully (thankfully) employed.  I love my job, and I love being back in school.  Even though I was dragged back kicking and screaming.  I've been doing what I do (in IT) forever, and when the company CIO suggested I get an MBA, I thought 'what do I need a fricking piece of paper for? I know how to do my job.' But I am finding this experience personally rewarding.  How come I didn't like school when I HAD to go?
To anyone considering going back--- I thought I wouldn't have time to commit, but it's really surprising to me how much time I can 'find' to devote to studying.  It's never too late.  I started back at DePaul last winter, it's probably going to take me forever to complete, but I don't care how long it takes.  I'm a student now, and I am loving every minute of it!

Please post, whether you remember me or not.  I'd love to know a little about what everyone is up to.

Thanks.

Thanks for the update Patty. Good for you for going for your MBA. I'm so glad you're enjoying the back to school experience.

Let's see ... a little update on me. Not too much is new. My kids are in 7th and 4th grades now. So between the two of them, their school and sports, I'm all over the place on any given day. I'm still a stay at home mom. I personally think my kids need me home more now then when they were little. So until they're older, I don't plan to go back to work. It's a nice option to have and I'm grateful everyday that I have the choice. Nothing else really is new.

I hope more people will post here!

PattyGoo, congrats on your MBA. I know it takes so much to go back to school after all that time.

I put this in the 20-somethings thread, but then I remembered maybe not everyone reads that all the time :)

I got engaged in December......we are getting married May 2011. Gotta save up first, but I think it'll be a really pretty wedding. I am NOT a big planner, so it will all be very interesting. I've lived with my fiance for about 1.5 years so I'm really excited to finally make it official.

I've been at my job for 2.5 years and it's pretty good. I do PR in health care. I love (some) of the people I work with ;) which makes working with the others a little easier.

Um....I finally got my own cat about 2 years ago too and I just love her :) She is black and fluffy.

Congratulations to you! :nanner: :nanner: :nanner: Keep us updated with all the exciting wedding plans. We've had several weddings and births on the WOG and it's so fun to see the progression over the years.

Hello....

My name is Shannon.....I posted here a few years ago and then lost computer and internet access so been gone for a few year. Recently got that all fixed and found this site again.

So since I have been gone I moved to Wisconsin, which lasted 2 weeks. Went there with my sister and her kids.  I wasn't able to even look for a job during that time cause I had to baby sit my nephew.  So we ended up running out of money.  We managed to get an aunt to lend us some money and then we went to Virginia Beach, where we had family friends.

Well, stayed in Virginia Beach for about 10 months.  Got evicted from our apartment for doing I don't know what. So we had nowhere else to go so we moved back to the Land of the Boring.

I am now engaged and getting married next august. WOOHOO!!!!!

I made a lot of changes with my life and my surroundings and I am a much happier person now than I had been in the past.

So sometimes the Land of the Boring isn't such a bad thing after all...

Congrats on your engagement!

Whoa, I forgot about this thread! Everyone seems to be doing great :)

I had my wedding May 7 of this year and it was the best day ever. We did it at a vineyard and it was beautiful! Married life is nice and we are settled into it. Waiting to have kids so we can just have fun for awhile!

Btw, thank for the well wishes, Shannon :)
