Title: it's snowing!
Post by pink boa lady on Dec 11th, 2008, 9:07am
so it may not be that big a thrill for most of you, but in new orleans...it's awesome!

it's really coming down right now. supposed to last until lunch time.

i was the only one in the neighborhood outside taking pictures and playing. hubby had to go to work. :(  the dog was like wtf and went back to watch under the patio.

our backyard is "tropical" (i haven't had time to get rid of the previous owners crap) so it's weird seeing cactus and banana trees covered in snow!

our local tv station has pics up www.wwltv.com cause, well that damn camera cord is still missing. guess i'm going to have to break down and buy one.

Wow ... snow in New Orleans is amazing. I bet that was really exciting to see. Did they say when the last time N.O. had snow?

I've lived with it my whole life for nearly 4 months a year. If I never saw another snowflake I'd be good. I just don't like the cold anymore. I do enjoy the beauty of the first snowfall and then I'm done and ready for it to be spring or summer again. I think it's time for me to move south  ;)

last time it snowed was christmas day 2004. it was magical for new orleans and probably my favorite xmas ever. it's not every day you see snow on xmas day here.

Don't you just love your Mac laptop? I love mine too. That built-in camera is handy. You'll have to get a good belly shot with that camera ;)

I love your house. It was surreal to see palm trees and snow at the same time. I guess it's similar to how we feel here when it's 60-70 degrees in December. I LOVE when that happens.

I'm sitting here watching the noon news broadcast and what does our weather man show us? Snow in New Orleans!!!! It looked like a blizzard. It almost looked like your neighborhood that they showed on our news too.

I'll gladly trade you some snow for some of that tropical weather you've got going on in N.O.  I had a foot of the damn stuff fall the day before Thanksgiving.  We've pretty much had snow since the beginning of November, and there's probably no end in sight until at least mid-March.

<sigh>  I've gotten so I hate winters 'round here.  >:(

Amen. I hate everything about winter. Especially when it shows up on my door a month earlier than normal. It's gonna be a long winter. **SIGH**

it was just 70 yesterday, but this is a nice change!

all the snow around here is melted. :(

this is a record for us...earliest snow of the year ever recorded and in some places (across the lake from us) had about 8 inches.

it's suppose to warm up over the weekend i think.

I am sooo jealous!  It's too freakin hot here for it to ever snow.  It just doesn't feel like Christmastime when you can still walk around in shorts & a tank top in the middle of December.

Wow, "lake effect snow" in Louisiana!!
So bizaare.
I hope you had fun playing with the snow for the little while it lasted.

Are you just trying to make me jealous now ;)  I'd give anything to be walking around in shorts and flip flops. That's my favorite thing. Some people who move away from the north say they miss the seasons and winter. I wouldn't look back. I'd be so happy to have the sun out and be walking around in shorts and sandals....ahhh heaven.

We got a gas well in our backyard, and as a result, we have free heat (YAY).  So I can crank the heat up as much as I want to, which is pretty damn awesome, I gotta say, especially when it was down to 6 degrees last week.  Anyway, I think we should have a tropical winter party at my house.  Everyone come in their loooooong winter coats, hats and scarves that you strip off at the door to reveal shorts and bikinis and tank tops.  We'll play tropical music, drink Mai-Tais and turn all the lamps on full blast in the living room and pretend we're outside basking in the sun.

Anyone up for it?  ;D

OMG .... that sounds like a blast. I'd love to crank my heat high like that. As it is it's set to around 68-70 degrees and it's still freezing in here.  It's funny how 68-70' in the spring and summer feels warm in the house. I'm shivering right now and my hands are numb. WHY DO I LIVE HERE!?!

Wait. You've got a gas well in your back yard?

Welllllll, doggies!

~~Then one day she was shootin' at some food,
And up through the ground came a bubblin' crude.
...Oil that is, black gold, Texas tea~~

I know, it's gas, not oil, but jeez.

As for that party, I'm in.

It's nice now...but on Christmas it kinda sucks.  It's been cold (for us) the past couple of weeks, ranging from the 40's to the 60's...but it's supposed to be 80 again tomorrow, so there goes our winter.  LOL.  I'd love to have just a little variation.  You get tired of 80-100, humid, and just hot all year long.
