Title: Amazing Grace
Post by Country on Mar 16th, 2007, 10:33am
I saw the movie last night . It was really good .
The movie is so moving at the end to see what just 1 person is able to do . He changed history by making it possible to get the first law passed to stop the slave trade .

Synopsis: William Wilberforce led efforts as a member of Parliament in 18th-century England to end slavery and the slave trade in the British empire. Wilberforce was elected to the House of Commons at 21 and took on the issue of slavery, successfully assembling a diverse coalition that went up against the most powerful men of the time.

When you have time please go to the official website and read about the movie and watch the movie clips to the movie .
The last clip , the story of Amazing Grace is done to Chris Tomlin's version of the song .
Its amazing that the man that wrote this song was ounce part of the slave trade by the grace of God , than was partly responsible by his actions in stopping it .

Love this movie and love the song.

Isn't it also amazing how this song can just touch anyone?
My brother and I came up with this really deep blues way  of playing  this song so we did it in church and it was awesome.
Put a Dobro/slide guitar in with it and you can really make the guitar sing the words.

I saw Chris Tomlin live a few weeks ago . When he did this live it was so powerful .
Thats why i mentioned to listen to the last clip with him singing and also to read just how this song has been sung through history .
This is the vs that Chris Tomlin wrote -
My chains are gone iv been set free
My God , my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
  Unsending love , amazing grace.
