I live in Toledo, Ohio, about 50 miles south of Detroit. We got snow yesterday as well, and it stayed on the ground until last night sometime. This is way too early for snow. I have a feeling we are going to have one last blast of warm weather. One can dream right? LOL!

Yes, dirty tired cold sore celebrities...
About an hour after gloating about my electricity it was taken away. A tree across the street snapped and downed the power lines and I was woken to that horrible horrible sound of exploding power lines. Never fun watching an electrical fire burning the trees across the street...
So... when we lost our power we lost hot water and we lost the sump pump. So no showers. And bailing water out of the sump pump hole in the basement every half hour by filling buckets and carrying them to the ground floor. Fortunately by the time we were losing the sump pump battle and water was flooding the basement my brother in law's father gave us his generator to power the sump pump and the refridgerator.
Very luckily our next door neighbor works for NYSEG, the local electric and gas company. I think for that reason my street got bumped up on the priority list. We got power back at about 1:30 this morning. I think we're in the minority having power. We have a list of people coming over to take showers...
It's such a mess. There are tons of trees down. Flooding everywhere. And my city apparently didn't get it as hard as the others...

Power lines down and starting a fire.
Fire truck at electrical fire
Tree that caused power outage.
Tree in side yard that split in half. Fortunately the half that fell fell away from the cars.

GEEZ!!! I can't seem to wrap my head around the fact that it's only October. Those pics remind me of late December/early January.
We get snow here in Detroit but I can't remember the last time we got snow to the point where it completely shut the city down like that....maybe the blizzard of 1980. We'll have pockets of areas that will get hit hard like that but never enough to shut the entire city/metro area down. That just amazes me. I'm feeling really grateful we were on the front side of that storm.

No school AGAIN for Monday. It's good because I'm sick and can use all the sleep I can get, but bad because I have an assignment due Tuesday that I have no idea how to do... 
Still happy I didn't get the damage some of the other cities did.
