Title: OMGoo **updated with review and VIDEOS!** Post by lionhill on Jun 12th, 2008, 4:25am So, I'm going to the Goo show in Liverpool July 11th, and that is pretty much the awesomest thing that could happen to me. Then I won a meet & greet pass. Heeheeheeheeheeheehee. So I thought, "whattheheck, I might as well do a proper report of this", and this I shall do. This post serves thus two purposes 1) To share the pure friggin joy of meeting the Goos 2) Report about the show (and the new song) I'm looking forward to it so much! |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 12th, 2008, 2:18pm Go you!! Have you ever met them before? It's a really awesome experience. Just remember (and I learned this the hard way), if you're short, hug Mike around the middle, not around the neck. ... You know what, just do that if you're average, because he's really freaking tall, and I kinda want to be the only one who's bashed him into a bus. |

I've never met them before and I've never been to a show before, so I'm doubly blessed with this. My first show and I get to meet them. I mean, wow. I'm pretty tall, like 5'10". He's like 6'2" or something? So I think I'll manage pretty well. lol, bash him into a bus. I'm sure he remembers you xD |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by nmf016 on Jun 12th, 2008, 7:08pm Congrats on the M&G. I've never had a proper one, so I have no advice (the 'don't assault Mike' advice is pretty good though). Yay for promising to report back. We WILL hold you to it! :D |

I met them at my second show, and it was the first show I went to since joining the IM, and I thought there was NO WAY I was gonna win. I entered my name, like, a month before the show, and immediately regretted giving myself that hope. Needless to say, I about died when I saw my name on the winner's list. Yeah, I'm about 5'3"...And I think he's 6'3". That's a full foot towering over me. Actually, he doesn't, cuz I met him again about two months later, and he wasn't afraid of me or anything. I would have been. And he seemed to be in the first picture. (totally shying away from me) On the other hand, I'm one of few people I know who have actually managed to get them all smiling in my picture. And the second time, I didn't bash anyone into a wall, and Johnny didn't smile. So the secret is cause them bodily harm = make them laugh. |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by d.e.n.i.s.e. on Jun 15th, 2008, 9:51pm Have fun, fun, fun. I've met them a few times and each time they were very nice and gracious. The organized M&Gs are usually VERY quick, so be sure to pay attention and enjoy it :) Looking forward to reading your review. |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by Shannon on Jun 19th, 2008, 9:14am Congrats on the Meet and Greet! Denise is right....it goes by super fast ... almost like an assembly line. So definitely pay close attention. I can't wait to read all about it. |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 19th, 2008, 10:02pm You can stretch it if you try really hard. Obviously don't take, like, ten minutes, cuz there's other people in line, but just remember to be sure you're done talking to them (if you can do that! :)) before you turn around, because they snap the picture and shove you off as soon as you do. At my first M&G, I don't think the whole thing lasted a full minute, but I talked to Robby and Johnny for at least that much each at my second. |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by lionhill on Jun 20th, 2008, 6:17am I was meaning to ask about that picture thingy. How do they do it with pictures? Do they take it or do someone take it with your camera or what? |
||
Title: Re: OMGoo Post by Shannon on Jun 20th, 2008, 9:52am One of the Goo staff will take your picture...usually Tara. You're not allowed to take a picture with your own camera. The picture will then be posted on the IM's m&g picture site and you'll be able to download it from there. I can't remember the address to the IM m&g pictures. Does anyone have it? |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by The Cerulean O on Jun 20th, 2008, 6:19pm I used to have it, but my computer sort of crashed and I lost all my bookmarks. But don't worry, Security Mike hands out cards with all the info. I cherish mine. ^_^ ... Oh. Wait. DUH! http://ggdphotos.phanfare.com The password is letlovein |

Title: Re: OMGoo Post by lionhill on Aug 7th, 2008, 6:14pm Sooo, I know I've taken my time with this. I do feel that this is justified because I've been travelling a lot and stuff. And this has turned out to be quite a long post. Anyway. The first thing that happened was that me, my sister and our mother arrived at East Midlands airport and, being the chatty kind of person she is, my mother talked to this Swedish guy who I pretty much owe the whole trip's best experience too. Y' see, we took the taxi with him, splitting the bill, and the driver had a hard time finding out exactly where the place the Swedish guy was gonna get dropped off was, before he finally found it and started driving us towards the city centre. I was really kind of bored and looked out of the window, where I see a hat which looks terribly much like Robby's hat. Turns out that him and Mike as well as an undisclosed female whose face I know I have seen before (she's the IM-video girl? Tara?) and Korel are strolling down the street, checking out the sights. I'm later told that I screamed "Oh my fucking god!" very loud, though I cannot remember this myself. The cab driver pulled off to the side of the road and I ran after them. They were SO nice. I was blabbering stuff like "Oh wow oh this is not real gosh wow" and they were asking me how I was and asked whether I was a listener and I told them that I was hardcore and that girl said she liked my hair and wow :D They didn't seem put off by the way I approached them either, probably because they didn't see me running like a madman down the street and over the road to catch up with them. I told them that I'd see them in Liverpool and that I had a Meet & Greet, and then I let them walk on because I really think that they (and celebrities in general) should be left alone. Was floating on cloud of happiness rest of that day, until around 9 PM, when I started crying outta happiness because I saw them play. We checked whether there were any tickets left to the gig in Nottingham earlier that day, there was, and I somehow got my mum to buy us three for that one too. Keep in mind, this was my first ever Goo-gig, so it's sorta hazy and mushy and what have you. I do remember, however, that the band that played before the Dolls, Slaves to Gravity, were awesome. I had heard one song by them before the gig, and they just blew my mind when they played. Their performance was amazing, and you should really check them out if you like alt. rock music. Also, the English crowd is/was way boring. Songs in (almost) no particular order they did were: Naked, drum solo edition, as the first song. Slide, and the whole place were engaged in singing. Was awesome. Big Machine, akdfjhakfk;dsdjak. I cried. I so didn't think they'd play that. Here Is Gone, another one of those songs I thought I'd never see. .. as well as Smash. Let Love In was great, Korel and Brad did a double-shred-solo-kind of thing. Black Balloon, including black balloons and a cheering crowd. Acoustic #3, which John made a comment about not fucking up but he started laughing, so he did. Tucked Away. My sister's getting big on this song. January Friend. Robby really kicks ass in a way I didn't think possible. I'm a way bigger fan of him now than before the concert. Dizzy. Feel The Silence. And then John stopped and held this speech about that life gives you shit and that he was happy that the band could help those who had had a rough time or multiple rough times before they started playing Better Days, and I started crying again. It really shocked me, because I've never been very partial to BD, so when I started weeping I was probably looking very weird. This whole band made so much sense suddenly, and what he had said was so true for my case. I have never been happier than before I started to listen to those guys; I owe them so much. It actually made so much sense that I cried through four songs they played straight after each other Better Days, Name, Become and Iris, I think. Stay With You caused more singing a la Slide. Slave Girl, which was awesome, no other words for that. And then they went off and came back shortly after. It was a dead giveaway that they were doing an encore, the light was still dim and everything. The last two songs were Real and Broadway. Real is such a kickass song live, wow. Robby recognized me from the stage from our previous meeting, to make the concert even better! He touched his hair as in a gesture of "Ey, blue hair!" and smiled this huuuge smile at me. :D Their performance was so intense and just amazing and it was a very very small venue. I didn't think I'd ever experience that. Liverpool was more or less the same. Small venue, same warm-up act, same setlist. I cried less (/nothing) and took a couple of videos, though. And I also had the M&G! My picture turned out pretty great in comparison to what I thought, and I totally love the way John looks, haha. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/msnnn.jpg Liverpool was the incident where John did the wtf?lala-song too, but I missed it :/ There were also some completely tone deaf drunk men behind me. Anyway, I think videos speak more than a 1000 of my words, so here you go: http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0041.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0042.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0043.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0044.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0045.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0046.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0047.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0048.flv http://s99.photobucket.com/albums/l297/alexa3112/RL/?action=view¤t=SANY0049.flv (Aah, I can't embed them!
