I LOVE THIS VERSION.

Oh and FYI, MY BANNER IS UP! :)
It matches the layout oddly well..

I was listening to it yesterday. And, while I enjoy the more acoustic feel to it I feel it's lacking the passion the original has. Part of the reason I love this song so much is the guitar solo and guitar at the end. This version is missing what I love so much about the song. So I like the original better. It's more raw.

And the part at the end when John sings:

"I think about you all the time, I don't need to sing, It's lonely where you are come back down"

IS SO FREAKING AMAZING

I don't hate it.  But in my opinion, it was completely unnecessary.  If it ain't broke...

I just listened to it again. I think the vocals are superb. But in my opinion the best version of this song is from LIB. You can't get any more raw than that. It's perfection.

This one feels a bit more polished than the original. I don't like that. And I hate that the finishing guitar is missing on this one.....you know....that final strumming? It's missing on this version and that just completes the song for me.

They were on joint WBR/Metal Blade for ABNG.  I'll totally get behind the theory that they re-recorded Name to avoid fees, but the reason for LWD, Naked, etc missing is because they're not the 'greatest hits', which is defined by this album as the top 10 songs, not just whatever was released as a single.

And just for further discussion, it can't be that unaffordable to 'borrow' the original Name for this release.  They didn't seem to have any problems putting Metal Blade songs on EOAC.

I agree, it makes sense that they re did name to avoid the linscensing... Alas, they did not have trouble with EOAC. Hmm. Anywho, I really think the greatest hits CD is handy. I like having it :)

It has to be annoying to pay fees to use your own song...big business getting in the way again.
